If your a good player you wouldn't miss and you would pay attention to your timing when you go to hit just don't be a baddy and you know block is your best friend and then combo it up with a move to catch your opponent. That all, think 2 or 3 moves ahead and your golden.
No, its not that I am bad, its the class design is horrible. But that is fine, Ill just go play something useful, enjoy your end game experience of getting kicked from dungeons and being kited by mystics.
I haven't been kicked out of no dungeon in the LFG yet and if that's a problem its called a good guild get in one because i did and I run dungeons with them and i got all my gear and nearly 1 shot every class loving my endgame. A good friendly guild can make Tera 10 times more enjoyable =)
It sure sounds like it. Zerk's have to put a little more thought into how they fight than some of the other faceroll classes, and it isn't always just aiming more carefully (though that's a big part of it). Zerks have to play the bait game and know how other classes fight and what skills to be prepared for. We hit hard enough to break any non plate class in a very small number of hits and that's not even counting crits. We would be broken as hell if it was easy for us to land hits.
The player skill level breaks down to something like this for each class:
5% are experts with their class and know the other classes in and out as well
20% are pretty good with their class, but still make mistakes against other classes that they aren't familiar with.
50% are average. They can compete with other average players and usually aren't the type to concern themselves with being amazing at PvP. These are mostly PvE carebears.
25% are borderline hopeless. This applies more the zerks than some of the other classes. Zerk takes some level of competence to play effectively and these players just don't have it.
Pretty much everyone but that top 5% can be baited or manipulated into fighting the way you want them to based on how you move and react. You know what works for me in a good deal of fights, even against decent players? The old bait 'n whack. Only the most cool headed players will stay calm when a Zerk starts charging in 1v1, but even then if you hold the charge long enough and use careful distance management, you can get them to do what you want. Most often I wait for them to use their evasion move to dodge what hey think is a big charge attack, then I block cancel the charge and catch them with Stagger as they come out of the evasion. Time it right and you're set up for a free Flatten. Boom, there goes half their health.
Ranged classes are a bit different, but still manageable. Believe it or not, you want to keep your distance and wait for openings. A lot of Zerks forget what a great gap closer Leaping Strike is. Yeah it does crap damage, but if a Sorc teles away and starts casting you can close the distance and maybe land a Stagger before they know what the hell is going on. Stagger followed by a Flatten usually leads to a quick end for most Cloth wearers.
TL;DR - Pay attention, learn more than just your own class, and fight intelligently. Contrary to their name, Zerks in PvP are not mindless axe swinging maniacs. We probably have to pay careful attention than a lot of other classes because our damage comes from big single hits. Making sure you put yourself in a position to land those hits is your job. Am I saying that PvP is perfectly balanced? Of course not, but Zerks are nowhere near as gimped as people making them out to be.
Zerks are by far the most fun class in the game imo. They are the most challenging and take the most skill to play, therefore they are the most entertaining class in all of Tera. At least that's my opinion. I am level 37 and I am having a blast in PvE and especially PvP. The slow attack speed requires me to lead my attacks on my opponent in PvP which make it a blast. I frown upon easy-mode classes and the Zerker is far from one.
I am a PvP'r by nature who is in a PvP guild so I'm not the least bit concerned about not having a spot in a group. Zerkers wreck shop in group PvP anyway.
Zerker class design is not horrible, it's just not braindead simple.
I've dueled many zerks and normally the players just don't get the class -- same problem as you.. but now and again you'll run into someone that gets how they work, and it's always the worst beatings I ever take.
A lot of zerkers play pvp like they pve - they think the player will stand still while you unleash a 20k strike on them. Only an idiot gets hit by a TS. They key is to pick your spots to strike. Wait for them to burn their dodge, or get stuck into an animation and rooted. Zerkers are hard to knock down, if you can trade a hit for a hit you will always come out ahead, especially on cloth.
