There are lots of appeals for alternate PvP rulesets, I guess it can't hurt for me to throw mine out here.
Though mine isn't so much an alternate. In kTERA, they utilize a similar PK system to the current NA Outlaw system, with one exception: only high-level players can be outlaws. This doesn't necessarily prevent rampant ganking, but it does make it so that it takes more than being any old level 20 fool with a spare Lumbertown teleport scroll to be eligible to engage in open world carnage. This would still leave PvP at end-game an option, something PvE sorely lacks, while also granting a little breathing room for levelling in the meantime.
Right now I dislike that I have to choose between playing Metal Gear Solid at the Lumbertown Bridge or living in a conflict-free wonderland where everyone holds hands and dances around BAMs. Especially when a more measured system already exists in the game. Hell, I'm watching it in a stream right now.
