here let me say this again, in as simple english as i can...

when a lancer hits you, you are staggered. you cannot move, you cannot use instant teleports (because its not instant, its really .2second cast time), and the ONLY hope for you is if you happen to get knocked down and use retaliate and teleport before they adjust the 2ft that you fell

this isnt up for debate, its a fact

and theres only so long you can kite as a healer... sleep is on a 30+second cooldown, and snare lasts 3secs with an equally long cooldown. and thats for the mystic... the priest is just screwed. after these two CCs are down, you cannot do anything but kite with teleport, while you are still chased by melees with charge. and since you cannot kite backwards without completely leaving the fight, you have to kite in circles AROUND the fight. basic geometry concludes that you will get caught with this method, i would draw this up in paint to illustrate the point, but i assume that you people have at least reached the high school math level, so thats a waste of time. then again im sure there will be idiots who claim this isnt true, which is an indictment of the american education system.

also, i STILL have yet to see a valid argument for not giving tanks defensive abilities that they can use for their group, yeah we really hate having options /eyeroll

either way, EME will remove the mass interrupt/stagger from the lvl1 ability, which will balance pvp. they arent stupid, they just havent got around to it yet.

So what you're saying, in actuality, is that your teammates refuse to peel targets off of you. All it takes is one stagger from them, one helpful CC, and you're back to kiting. How long does it take a Lancer to m1 you down? Forever? How long will it take once their DPS decreases at level 60? Infinite? Potions are instant-cast/instant-apply aren't they? I bet that would neutralize most of the damage alone.

Also, tanks don't have defensive abilities? So you can't use leash defensively? Warriors can't CC? Neither can get in the way and use collision to impede their progress? You can't use a stun defensively? What do you want, some AoE button that easy-modes some defensive thing?

Tanks don't have options? What is this, a logic vacuum?


no, what i was saying, in actuality, was the exact english that i typed, that you obviously need to reread. why would you think that dps decreases at 60? i played ktera to cap, and it sounds like you heard a rumor from some scrub in green gear.

and STILL, i have yet to see a valid argument for not giving tanks the ability to "guard" people in their group, like every other mmo has done successfully. i look forward to someone with intelligence coming to present some valid point, but its obvious that this wont happen

EME is gonna fix it anyways, so im not worried, and look forward to all the QQ about it from the unskilled masses who cannot even grasp the simple concepts defined on page1 of this thread

And a "guard" ability is babytown frolicks. WAR and SWTOR do something like that successfully, eh? Eh? Yeah.

the english i typed was fairly accurate, but i dont blame you for not attempting to debate it by quoting me, as you have no case

and yeah, warhammers guard function on their tanks worked out very well, and allowed people to play their tanks offensively and defensively, without overpowering them. i never mentioned swtor, that game is trash

Now, go down to level 56 and look at an ability called "Pledge of Protection." It absorbs damage from other people in your party and directs it to you. Sounds like a form of guard to me. You fail at researching classes.

no, thats a group buff that absorbs some damage from the group and transfers that damage to you, its not focused on any one player, and its a very small amount, and in no way can a tank use this to "guard" anyone. an example of a good "guard" is the warhammer version, which is balanced for pvp. in this system, the tank can toss guard on someone and take 50% of the damage, allowing them to protect someone sufficiently without overpowering the ability.

its ok i wont make fun of you for not knowing how the ability you linked works, maybe you havent played ktera to cap, but i have, and you are welcome to me educating you on this topic

Great, let's take a game that isn't even modeled in it's combat at all like WoW or WAR or SWTOR and put in a skill that those games use because, that makes sense. Clearly it would work. That's like saying "TERA NEEDS a stealth class because other games have it and people like it." This isn't any of those games. Your "guard" of another player is swiveling your camera to see someone is taking damage and either using that Pledge of Protection skill or get your [filtered] over there and protect them with your skills. Just because there isn't an ability modeled off of "guard" from WAR--or whatever other trash tab-target game you want to point out--does not mean TERA should implement it.

Thanks for the education by the way. Hope you enjoyed my "tanking in TERA 101" class. Otherwise known as "use your eyes and defend your teammates".

I was in a thread not too long ago where people cried saying berserkers can't win against ranged and now I find a thread where ranged complain about melee, including berserkers and their knock downs.

What a split community. Both sides calling the other OP. Normal day on the internet I suppose.

couple things...

your english comprehension is awful, as i already stated that the ability is a group buff, not something you "use" when someone is taking damage, and again you are welcome for me educating you on the subject.

and yeah war is a mythic game, same people who made daoc, the best pvp game for 2001-2005, so calling it trash just makes you look stupid. in war you could pvp from lvl1, you could do open world pvp or battleground pvp from the first second you log in. you dont have to kill a single mob, theres collision detection, and you get loot from pvping. and every mmo was tab target before tera, that doesnt make them trash, at the time they were good stuff. your comment just makes you look dumb
