I just love ranged complaining about melee for once in a game. Every other MMO ranged have an advantage and I think a lot of these complaints are centered around their idea of ranged classes from other MMOs. This is TERA. I've seen plenty of skilled ranged players who can kite very well stay away from melee for a very long time. Even 2 or 3 melee at a time.
Easy you assume a lot. SInce when is 30v30 "real PvP"?
Real PvP includes all sizes in random amounts.
What do you think exists between 5v5 and 30v30?
Do you think range will be at a significant disadvantage in 15v15?
TTK is way too short right now,
TTK is just fine. If you feel it's too long you're insane. It takes at least 4 seconds to solo kill an afk soft target, with a Berserker or Sorc's omega strike. About the same as in WAR, close to the same as DAOC.
It simply appears fast because you're not yet used to employing this game's defensive capabilities.
right now melee classes can lockdown anyone to ensure the burst far better than any ranged classes right now.
Pretty sure range have similar degrees of CC, at range. AOE sleep, roots, not to be underestimated. They also have backsteps, blinks to get out of range. If your blinks and backsteps are getting kd'd and staggered, you waited too long. Adjust and learn. Get some +attack speed. Use a PvP scroll (did you even know these exist?).
Seriously, the game hasn't even been released. Unless you've been PvPing in KTERA for the last year, whining at this stage of the game is completely asinine. The vast majority of players are playing at a terribad scrub level where the classes that have the easiest DPS execution are dominating until the other side of the equation (player defense) gets good practice.
Nevermind the part where the class progression is a bit sketchy with Sorcs getting twice as powerful exactly at level 48.
And, don't forget that capabilities like Retaliate get faster when you get attack speed on gear. Again, the game has not even begun.
Oh please, we're not even talking about CC. We're talking about the ability of the range caster to be effective in any capacity. In TERA, if you are being spammed in melee, you can't do much. In DAOC, it was pretty much the same thing. You basically had 1 QC root/stun and that was it. MOC was a longass cooldown for a reason, and not available until long after the game was released.
so basically your saying another game recognized the problem with this and gave their players a tool to balance it? good argument.

Don't worry, it's still the same in this game. Melee other than lancers are useless in fights bigger than 5v5. In smaller fights sorcs also have the advantage because CC is much more relevant and melee don't have any.

What MMOs were those? Can't be WoW, from what I hear its split between the rogue and the warlock for the title of most ridiculous class, with warriors waxing and waning depending on the weapons they can get.
Can't be Guild Wars, or at least when I still played/followed the PvP scene which was since release to a little before EoTN. Most team compositions needed Warriors, cause they applied the most pressure, were pretty sturdy, and had the best spike.
So those are two premiere pvp games where that wasn't the case, please enlighten me with your examples.

Ok so i dont know other melees as well as lancer since i play one.
Are most healers easy to catch? Yes. But not because of class disadvantages. Because i see alot if [filtered] healers (pve and pvp -.-). Good ones? Usually cant even catch them. Healers have low knockdown resistance, but if memory serves me correctly high stun resist. If i catch you with a combo(which is slow and also stops us) sidestep. Why do i catch [filtered] ones? Because they run in a straight line infront of my lance. Easy kill. Now if they sidestep the second that i combo attack, that is a miss, stops us and they teleport. Amazing how i watch people just make a straight run away. -.- you deserve to be caught. Hell not even just for lancers...do that while an archer charges penetratig arrow behind you or a zerker. Trust me itll be over much quicker. As lancer we have charge and thats it for speed. Due to leash having a long cd, a decent lancer isnt going to try while you juke everywhere. Andifhe misses...gg.
For group pvp. Lancer does get a guard skill later on for 35% damage taken. If the other team has someone making a line for you, [filtered] call it out! When we typically do any form of group pvp my sole job as lancer = protecting healer. But thats due to the fact i know my dps can do the job. I can easily keep 2 people off the healer. Talk with your team. Lancer has slows, leashes, guard, block, multiple stuns and combo attack flinches. Too easy to keep a slayer off a healer.
Im not one to say l2p, but comon. And its not all you. Your group needs to also. Hell keeping the slayer away from healer almost always ends with him dying anf he didnt do a damn thing in regaurds to the actual fight and keeps him from his healers range.
This game uses tatics. Can a slayer steamroll you? Sure if you let him sit on you. Can other steamroll that slayer? Yup. Let him chase you while he loses hp. Soubds like you are staying away from your group, letting someone steamroll you and blaming the world for your mistake.

Actually WoW would be the main one. Mages were dominant against most any melee for as long as I can remember playing. I played off and on from Vanilla even into Cataclysm. So if we're talking over the entire expanse of the game. Mages have dominated melee classes for the majority of WoW.
Guild Wars wouldn't even be on my radar as far as PvP goes. It was a game full of cookie cutter class combinations and I disliked the PvP. However your argument isn't about melee vs ranged and centers on the need for a warrior in team compositions.
SWG Pre-CU would be another one that comes to mind. Riflemen with crazy rifles kiting every melee player around like it was a joke. CMs with ridiculous mind dots not being touched outside of a Jedi Guardian and even they couldn't keep up most of the time.
SWTOR with their Sorcerers who spam lightning and Sages who spam rock throw. I don't even know if they've got a nerf bat yet even though pretty much every other class has. Even the Mercs with tracer missile which apparently they recently got nerfed to hell. That's about as far as I feel like going with it.
