High Elf is a good choice for the mana boost but I would suggest HUMAN. If you wipe (priest) and you get a rez from another party member you get the human health regen perk. May seem minor but being a Human healer also has it's perks in PvP situations as well.

As others have said...it's really up to you. I've got both on two differrent servers. Personally I like my human healer best.


Don't need the heal regen perk when our self rez rezzes us with full MP/HP and 120 stam.

I rolled a male human priest.

Why male? I like my main to be my sex IRL.
Why human? Human pride IRL + DR bonus at 30 % health.

To be honest, I feel that the high elf racial is somewhat overrated for healers. As a priest, I've almost never run out of mana in a PvE scenario, even in endgame hardmode dungeons. As long as I am using Infused charms and my group is not awful (forcing me to spam heals to repair their mistakes), I never even need to look at my mana in PvE.

In PvP, sustained healing over the course of a long battle can drain my mana though. 5v5s and 10v10s usually aren't drawn out long enough to put me under pressure for mana, but an extended guild vs guild skirmish can drain me. I have used my racial a handful of times in these situations, but they're fairly rare.

I would not roll high elf purely for the racial if you're a PvE player. PvPers may get some use out of it. But, here's a good argument for a high elf:

And even from a PvP perspective, it's on to long of a cooldown for it to be useful.

The racials are fun little perks at most. None of them are really worth choosing a class over.

Looks is the reason to choose a race in Tera, and it's one of the reasons I love Tera. :) I don't feel like I picked the wrong race to get the most out of a character (ok truthfully I never have), but one doesn't really have to deal with others that think it.

I had my mystic as a human female mostly cause i kinda liked the 70s armor look but then i got bored looking at her so i bought a race change and made her an Aman and she looks pretty awesome

I am happy to have returned to Aman after playing human these past few months.

Aesthetically, they have nicer outfits. Actual pants and coats. Not wearing a disgustingly short dress for every other outfit. Better bodies, claws and all. Faces... not crazy about it. Not that I want them to be pretty, but it is really hard to find the perfect combination. One face might have a nose I like, but no desirable eyes, for example. That aside, they are also the winner in the animation department, though just barely. Human female is still really cool.

In terms of comfort, I like Amani women. I identify with them better than humans somehow. Probably because we are both tall and hideous creatures with a large buttocks and blunt mannerisms.

Gameplay? Racial benefits are pretty much the same only universally applied. Difference between a 10% Defence increase VS 10% damage reduction un PvP works out to be... what, 0.4%? Also, since the camera positioning goes off the head of your character, it is just enough added height for me to be able to see the health bar of larger targets while I am up close.

Proud Popori priest! Love the race, it's preference. Racials aren't glaringly obvious like the Belves/Gnomes of WoW.
