"De-sexualizing Elin?"

En masse is working on "de-sexualizing" Elin armor models? "...Which is a step in the right direction." Says Adam Biessener of Game Informer. GTFO I think it's a load of bull. I forgot this game was teen rated. All because the Elin look "young" and they dress skimpy now North Americans flip out because it's a violation of so called "gender politics." Most players of this game should be above the legal age and if not their parents "consented" for them to be able to view such "sexual armor models."

Now there might be different living standards in Asia and in North America but why can Asians look at such images and North Americans can't? Cause we (Americans) are all pedos and have dirty minds, and think their daughters are going to get abducted and raped just by playing outside right? Wrong. (You would be surprised what plays into a decision like this.) Now I'm probably going out on a limb here but I'm going to say It's the older generations of North Americans trying to "tone down" video games for us. (Who's creating this game = older generations. Who has the voice and the say in this country = older generations) I should be able to play and M rated game and look at "M Rated" content.

In order to appeal to Americans it has to meet an American standard of censorship which is bull.

Call me a pedo or what have you but I think it's outrageous.
Sorry to rant lol =)

actually the game is rated M which means in many places in america, you have to show ID and be above the age of 16 or 17 to even purchase the game (atleast i know that's the rules here in my city).

Also, that's an old article, considering the current Elin costumes ARE the de-sexualized versions of the elin armor. Panties were change from Panties to hotpants, and the bare stomaches were covered up. It's already in game.

I still find it funny that they did this, and yet RETCONNED the elin lore so that instead of being anchient protectors of nature that lived for hundreds of years and were the female version of the poppori, they became their own race and their lifespans were shortened to "just about the same as humans." making them more like humans in their lore instead of less.

my biggest problem is that Enmass thinks it's okay to censor some artists work because it makes some people uncomfortable. While it may not be on the same level, are we going to start censoring artistic nudes in museums because some people are uncomfortable about the human body? If people are made uncomfortable by a race, in a game, that is magical and doesn't even look human, just because they have a flat chest and are short, then they may want to examine the reason they're uncomfortable.

I know it's M rated. It was sarcasm. And I seen the article in Junes Game informer and didn't realize how much talk there was about this subject. I back you up on the censorship.

Why is it a problem for them to have more clothing on? Just railing against "censorship"?

The problem to me is the censorship. Not the added clothing. If they had allowed a choice between original texture pack or censored texture pack then that would be one thing, but they forced people to use the censored texturepack and that is what gets me pissed off since they did litterally censor several artists work.

Some of the Elins have the cutiest armor sets which let them be fully clothed and no panty flashes. the issue isn't that the elins have more clothing on, it's the issue that the selectively censored armor sets.

you can call it "railing against 'censorship'" but it's the truth. If a book was censored people would be up in arms. If an R rated movie was censored people would be upset (drawing an equality between R and M ratings) artistic images that get censored are just as wrong, so why is it okay for an M rated game which only ages 16-17+ should be able to purchase, to be censored even if it is a minor change?

And really the changes just make the Elin look MORE childish, counterproductive really.

It was an issue dealing with people that were creeped the **** out, not a nunnery.

Same goes for the Elin lore, only that was world-wide. Child-like females + animal people + bed/grove/bush? Pretty sure even BHS changed their lore to what we see state side, considering they're seen as separate races over there too.

What they could do, is have the old outfits be templates for people to use if they choose, and thus not forced into them.

they did retcon world wide, and i kinda understand that choice. It was a choice made by the company creating the artwork/content after feedback by their users. I also think that the elin lifespan was changed stateside, not sure about current k-tera lore but stateside elins only live the same lifespan as humans. Where as originally they were long lived mystical beings.

But the choice for the armor was made by Enmasse (not the company actually creating the game) prempting feedback from users because they feared the possible backlash, not from concreate feedback from users. That's censorship of someone elses product and not cool in my book.

And those creeped out by a ficticious game character that looks like it was ripped from some cartoon need to probably really look at why they're creeped out.

At the very least they should have given players a choice between censored and original k-tera texture pack. (woulda been nice to have the choice between english and korean voices as well)
