Elin Censorship - Didn't help public perception, hurt it

I'm going to stick to my opinion, no matter how biased it may be.
There should be no need for censorship or profanity filters in a "M" rated game.

You have a right to your opinion, but having an M rating doesn't give you the right to put whatever the hell you want in a game. That's not how rating works.

There are some things that, no matter what rating you get, just can't be in a game or movie or anything like that.

IMO they should be censored especially the short skirt panty shots, its just creepy.
I understand some people think Elins are cute, but if covering up their chest and underwear suddenly make them not cute, somethings wrong with your mind.

Actually there is no point in further censoring the Elin race, as people will always troll them, ridicule the players who play them.

^ Pretty much this.
I think people aren't understanding this thread. Please read OP first. Then read it again slowly.
Some people are still posting, complaining about people complaining about the Elin censoring. Most of us are over that now. The point has been made and is not the point of this thread.

If the changes weren't made these 'articles' would be worse. But even if the Elins were taken further and pants were put on them and they were covered to the point that you couldn't see their necks or the shape of their bodies; haters gonna hate.

Take the Elin out of the game. What's next in the sights of haters? Castanic (strippers/[filtered]s/hookers/prostitutes ect) females.

Internet gaming articles are piss poor at the best of times; I don't waste my time reading them, but they know just like news of tv that people like controversy and these websites love fear mongering. It gets more people to the site and therefore more money in their pockets. Unless developers slip them some cash to write an article full of praise.

Most of the people I've seen trolling TERA in general haven't played it and aren't going to. I know in the next CBT if I see what I've seen in LFG/Trade chat I'll be making a party/joining a guild and only talking in party/guild chat. I'm not wasting my time interacting with these people

Did not read your garbage thread, but the "censoring" did help perception.

I agree, I really don't understand why how people are so adamant about letting Elin show a lot of skin. They look like young children, there's no way around that, and having young children in just underwear can't be in games, or anything.

And the whole "well castanics and elves can look like strippers and no one complains" is ridiculous. They don't look like children, and who ever has problems with attractive women in revealing clothes? Even women like attractive women in revealing clothes. By making that argument you're kind of equating half-naked women to half-naked children.

So your saying women being illustrated as strippers is fine?

I'm not sure you worded that corrected.
if you put things in a movie/game ect that weren't allowed, by the countries law, it would simply be refused classification, unless those things were removed.

TERA was reviewed and permitted a classification of (M). If the review panel thought anything in TERA did not meet those criteria for an M rating it would be given MA or R. If it exceeded the criteria of an R rating it would be refused classification [and probably investigated by the police]

Left 4 Dead was allowed in the US but refused classification in Australia. GTAIV was censored in Australia to meet a M / MA(?) rating.

Generally you are not jumped for understanding both sides, it is that you say the wrong side is acceptable.

I understand perfectly why the changes were done, just how I understand perfectly that some people rape others. The question is if I agree with censorship or rape, just because some prefer it.

Mmmmm... no. That's a fairly biased statement. If they're the wrong side, the other side is the wrong side too. No one gets to say what's right or wrong here. Beliefs =/= fact, though everyone likes to think that their belief is more rooted in fact than the other guys. Hello religion!

People really need to read the OP before posting.
So stop talking about the whole "people complaining about the Elin censoring" part and focus on what this thread is actually about.

I partly agree with the TC, I believe Elins have gotten a much bigger focus on gaming media because of the whole uproar over the censoring.

I think EME should had thought about this more carefully, their whole Elin blackout thing is probably a hundred times more effective (not showing any Elins on their homepage/media etc.). Because an Elin with panties or short-shorts are most likely going to cause the same kind of reaction from people bothered by this.

In the end, we can talk about these failure all we want, but we all know that there's nothing EME can do about it now. What's done is done and anything more will just raise more attention.

It's the setting/culture of the game. Absolutely. :3
