He wasn't the target audience.

The problem is, we ARE the target audience for Tera.

They are trying to change the target audience to something else. What they are going to end up with is a game that does not appeal to either.

You are wrong here. Its not most, its all.

No one would have said anything at all if no changes were made.

did ANYONE complain before any changes were hinted?

Shift, don't say things you cannot back up with even a SHRED of proof, please. It's baseless statements like this that have kept EME from attempting to engage the elin fanbase: they're not going to argue with a group of people who are willing to make things up.

Also, EME didn't make the decision to censor elins without internal focus group testing (not the FGT players, ACTUAL people they invite into meeting rooms and ask them questions). They WOULDN'T make that decision without consulting focus groups and those groups MUST have said that they didn't like the uncensored elin armors.

This is how companies make decisions, mainly because it places the blame on people NOT in the company (ie the focus testers) so no one will get fired for making the decision without being informed.

According to one video some one linked in one of the threads the censorship was done for the most crazy of religious people, and feminists.. So targeting people that most likely will never buy the game? Right.

Most real gamers would never of given a damn if they were left uncensored.

Can you find this video?

EME didn't do it for feminists or they'd have censored 90% of the female armor as well.

They MIGHT have done it so the game didn't draw unwanted criticism from the media for sexualizing what the NA market would perceive as children, but I REALLY think they did it because the general NA market didn't like the uncensored elin in focus groups.

I found it ... and it's actually true XD

1. As I said before, anime fans have their thumbs on the pulse of the eastern MMO scene and will find out about Tera either way.

2. Tera tested well with mainstream MMO NA gamers, otherwise they wouldn't be trying to capture that market.

Let me put it this way, if Tera testing extremely well with HOUSEWIVES for some reason, that's the market they'd be shooting for.

The MMO-Fo ads tell us all we need to know about who EME found Tera resonated with.

Where is your proof?

DId you see any of these focus groups? Your assumptions are much more far fetched then mine.

In fact, I can supply proof, we can easily for back in the forums and see if we can find even 1 post complaining about it. While your "Proof" cannot be proven.

Now, that said, I agree with you. I believe they did get a focus group together and decide this. However, when dealing with such a volatile subject, you cannot trust a focus group. If i say its fine, and the next person says your a pedophile the entire rest of the group will bite their tongue because that is one of the worst things you can call a person. Even if its completely false, people don't even want to be accused.

I can't read or understand German...

And I think whoever said they were doing it for feminists was wrong. Feminists have ALREADY been up in arms about the female armors in the game.

Are you sure they didn't censor the female armors in the EU market and that's what they're talking about?

I like how I havent seen Destian post for a while, then choppagurl shows
Up and bam there he is. Someone seems to have a crush.

No, it's far worse than that.

Someone posted a complaint thread on the general forums about elin threads so I figured I'd take a look and see how bad it was, even though I keep telling myself I won't do that anymore.

It was PRETTY bad...

And folks, if you're willing to cancel your preorder over the censoring (which is very hard to see in game, FYI), then WHY did you have a preorder to start with?

If you're not playing Tera for...

-the amazing combat system
-the fantastic boss battles
-the intense PvP
-the political system

...WHY were you playing it? To stare at your elin in game? Would a PICTURE of an elin suffice for that? (again, no offense, but you could save $50 that way...)

Game developers have made FAR more drastic and unpopular decisions with their games in the past, like completely removing entire RACES from a game (which they could've done with the elin).

If you were only playing the game to dress up your elin, how long could could Tera have POSSIBLY held your interest, anyway?

Also, I think there are people who are going to SAY they've cancelled their sub to add weight to their arguments but actually haven't. Not pointing any fingers, but it's too easy to lie on the internet to prove a point.

Want to point out, I cancelled my order NOT because of the censorship, but because of how they've handled the entire situation, their incredibly inflexibility, and their disregard for feedback.

I could easily mod the client on my side, and I did mod both the Elin armor and Japanese voices in.(No, I don't care if it's dangerous to say this on the forums.)

My interest in this whole thing is NOT the armor changes, it's the way they handle problems.

And to the point that I might say I have canceled my order but actually haven't:

There ya go. Proof.

For a game that has roots in South Korean mmorpg standards, shouldn't the target audience be fans of South Korean mmorpgs and not the angry moms of America? I mean, who are we kidding here, pretty much every female character in this game has at least a few outfits that looks like it's meant for hookers working the corner, the original target audience was TOTALLY obvious.

Is EME really saying that they're trying to target non-gamers to play this action mmo game or something? Is that the reason why their changing certain aspects of the game? Take one look at this game, and anyone can see that it's made mostly to impress the people who grew up on games and animation of eastern influence, mainly Japan. This game is not meant to be a "gateway game" for non-gamers to get a foothold in the door, it's for people who already know how an mmorpg works, and how an action game such a Monster Hunter or Zelda works, and wants to smash the two genres together. This is not a pick-u-and-play sort of game. So again, who the crap is EME's target audience? And are they being catered to?

Lol, read a couple of articles.

This company isn't only trying to compete with WoW, but for competing they want to be as close to *WoW* as possible. Thus the whole "general audience" fiasco and westernization.

This is what players are use to playing! WoW! We'll hide all the non-western elements as much as possible because those are disliked!

It'll be nothing more than raids, water-downed patches that take forever, and raids until the "general audience" grows bored with it. Why? because all the unique functioning content is being gutted and removed from the game. There's three different versions of the SAME game now. and the NA/EU have been given the less content out of them all.

Tera is being changed into a different game. The butchering will not stop~

Now about pets it's fairly stupid. Players will have no alternatives to trade when a vanarch decides to lock their auction house up (or not even get it) and they have to go way out somewhere just to find a place to trade.

In the end=more work/bugs, more delays, less content but for asking price of $50+ and up!

Players here are just gonna get the slops on the plate that's been regurgitated and thrown up for gaming.

Is EME even considering these things when they just remove content? No. Woah, that's sad that the players can notice that first.

Stuff looks rushed/un-thought and content being taken out in last-minute fiasco's. Where were the tons of complaints about Pets during CB2? Now suddenly they've been taken out of the game.

Mischeft was taken out because someone at EME didn't like them because of the loose streak (when it could have been more tweaked for better outcomes). I used the boxes and yes, they failed on some items but on some items I was able to process up to 3x the amount I originally had.

All Tera is screaming for the NA is *We have action, but we're a replica of WoW WoW WoW!*
