I'm curious... I've heard they're supposed to be immortal, ageless and whatnot... But then there's this quest:

So yeah. How long do elin - and popori since that questline is about both - live? Why does it seem like there are such huge inconsistencies in the lore when it comes to the age and lifespan of elins?

Ageless yes. immortal no.
All ageless means is that they don't age. When they die, they will look the same age as when they were created.

Makes sense, and was one of the possibilities I had thought of after posting that. It would make sense that they age 'invisibly' so to speak, that the changes aren't physically or visibly noticeable in any way. I mean after all, a god did just sort of make them appear out of nowhere.

But, I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere they can live hundreds of years as well. If that's true, and the quest dialog above is true... Do humans also live hundreds of years in TERA?

What a twist! Then again, is a year in Tera as long as one in our world?

I'm just glad us Popori don't go by dog years, like our non-awakened ancestors.

No, I think you read that the Elins, as a race, have been around for hundreds of years, but they as individuals do not live to be one hundred.

About their aging, I completely agree. The way I see it is that they are like flesh constructs. Seren puts a bit of Elinu's essence in a physical form, and then zaps it a bit with some energy to power it, and viola, you have a functioning Elin. Once that energy runs out, the body stops working and the essence (or the Elin's consciousness) goes back into nature (or the well of Elinu's essence) where it can be reused for another Elin some time in the future.

Of course that's just speculation.

Yeah the game says they don't live any longer than the other races. Same with Popori. They simply look young until their death.

You've got it right. Elin souls (?) go back to the common collective after death, at which point it adds to the knowledge of all new Elins. So Elins might have a lifespan of a human and the body of a child, but the mentality of a whole generation that has lasted hundreds of years right from birth.

If you read the class lore on the main site's Game Guide link, it has all the info.

Korean / Japanese lore states that they are immortal. America / Europe just likes to mess with ya. Hell a lot of the Elin NPC text dialoge is washed down. I believe one Elin said "I'd kill to save just one tree." Do you see that anywhere? NOPE. They made this Federation thing up that everyone seems to say. They changed an assassination plot to a war about a flag. Don't read ANYTHING in the NA / EU Questline. It's just a fat load edited crap.

Seriously... the further we go the more I down right detest how badly the english version is being handled. its watered down glitchy and just... arg. I wish I could read korean. id just leave en masse and frogster behind. im tired of being treated like a 12 year old idiot by a companies who clearly have no idea what they are doing.
