I'm just a bit curious, but from what I've played so far, Elins seem very...under-represented and very poorly represented in TERA lore. Perhaps this changes in Kaitor and the 50+ levels, but up until now, Elins (and popori/baraka) have no memorable characters attached to their names, For all the other races: high elves seem to be the favorite pet of the TERA storyline with no less than two reoccuring major characters (Elleon and Fraya, both of whom kick all sorts of filtered) as well as Elleon's brother. Samael, Dougal, and Burke are all memorable human characters that played important roles in the Velika arc. Castanics and Aman aren't as well-represented, although Kaidun and Jelena each played their significant part in the storyline, each of which had their own dungeon (SM and NT respectively). Through the eyes of these NPCs, we see how grand each of these races are in the world. Never once, though, was there an Elin (or Popori/Baraka) that was featured as an important character in the storyline; those races seem to be relegated to random quest-givers at best.
Thus, the only way to even get a perspective on these races is from their respective stories.
Now, Poporis establish themselves pretty well to the player with Prefect Paka, who is quite rightfully concerned with all sorts of undead and mutating stuff going on outside of the city walls. For the popori quests (which are a major part of the story), players investigate mutating soldiers, plagues, and a lok conspiracy shrouded in vampir mysteries - you know, actual problems. Plus, the guy was respectful of your accomplishments and called Burke a [filtered], so that's bonus points for the cuddly little panda-man.
Barakas never really get their own story with Fraya taking over the Allemanthia arc, although the intro videos establish them very well as a wisdom-loving race. Perhaps they could have gotten a better treatment in lore as well, but the intro video, at least, establishes them as a wise race.
So what about Elins? The first and only time we focus on Elins as a part of a story quest is the events of Pora Elinu (which doesn't even have an associated instance like Poporia did). We were tasked with "something that requires finesse and diplomancy instead of force," and arrive on the scene to find ourselves mediating a silly argument over flag designs, with both of the Elin princesses acting like spoiled brats. Keep in mind that this is the first and only time that Elins are at the forefront of the scene, and the only impression that we get of a "race that's wiser than they look" are two spoiled-rotten children.
So, my question is this - what exactly are Elins supposed to be? Are they really mature and wise like their racial descriptions would have us believe, or are they really mostly like the princesses that we encounter in Pora Elinu? If it's the former, it's kinda difficult for us to understand the race when the princesses are the only time that we see an Elin in the spotlight.
And besides, why should the high elves be the only ones with badass, memorable NPCs =p?
