Destian,

Give it a break. You are, have been and will continue to be off-base. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself by buying LaBlue Girl off of Amazon. You can burn it later in effigy to make you feel better. Give you a clue, when the video opens with the lead animated character sitting nude in front of the camera and the subtitle underneath her says, "Hi, I'm so and so, and I'm 21 years old", in Japanese you can hear her say, "Hi, I'm so and so and I"m 14 years old."

It's an adult video. It's in America. The sky hasn't fallen, anime is doing quite well here. And, no, I don't have the video, which is why I can't remember her name. Saw it at an anime convention and laughed my head off because I know enough Japanese to pick that intentional mistranslation up.

The point is, animated stuff comes into this country that is 100, no, 1000 times worse than the harmless Elin, and the backlash is? Nothing. I've brought anime art back from Japan (anime cels), some of which were very beautiful nudes in non-sexual situations. One Customs official got all huffy about it, the other laughed and told the first dude the video was available two blocks away, what's the issue? And the answer is, there isn't one.

Your concerns have not been substantiated by past history, which is why you are completely off-base, and this censorship issue is all much ado about nothing.

Then why, pray tell, did EME censor Elins in your mind?

you guys know the only reason they haven't locked this thread is because you guys are making yourselve's look so incredibly stupid that its like a day at the zoo for them...

they bring their kids in and say "hey lil billy, wanna go see the deranged monkeys?" "yeah!" *seats him next to the computer with this forum thread open* "wow dad! thats a lot of them! they seem angry though, are they dangerous?" "no billy, they are completely harmless." "are you sure? and are they still gonna purchase the game when it comes out? this one swears up and down that he wont, and these 2 are agreeing with him...and these other 5 are saying things completely unrelated to the topic"

"ha ha ha, billy, remember this lesson. the people on the forums only like to hear themselves complain, they will still buy the game, and if they dont then the only reason they wanted to buy the game in the first place was not for the many features we have, the many many months we put in making the game fixing bugs, planning and putting in new content, they just wanted to act out some sick fantasy, and those people are the people we dont want in our game anyways so a real loss? no, consider it a gain."

little billy learned a lesson about the video game industry that day. when he grows up he will make some angry monkeys of his own and point and laugh at them, and feed them more stuff just to watch you all whine more. and no, i will respect billy more for just that reason.

TL;dr: keep it up guys, a lot of us are having a field day with your unneccessary anger. but be careful, you dont wanna die of an an aneurysm you get from all the unneccessary stress and rage your putting yourselves under.

to the real tera fans, i'll see you guys in game, to the majority of the gripers in here, i'll ALSO see you in game...to the few or actually wont buy the game over ONE FRIGGIN RACE's armor, thank you so much, i reallly dont wanna take the time putting you on ignore for complaining in trade 24/7.

you all have yourselves a great flame war, i'll be back later to see the ashes.

Westernization. Even if it means stepping on other communities. There are companies that have been around who have published asian mmo's for years. They are still around and still publishing games.

Check out Podcast #5 Interview

There's a chick on there that "hates anime". Pretty much sums it up.

Elin-related threads get closed the most on the forums. A poll just got closed recently for the armor renditions. I don't think any reasonable fan would be happy if they saw the treatment elins were getting over here.

Hello, Welcome to GameShop.

Have you heard about the new MMO coming out? Well it's called Tera, features live action combat, no more pushing that TAB key, you have to be a real MMO-FO to play this one, i might even have to card you! (Awkward laugh with the clerk) So basically you have all these races and classes to choose from and it's built upon the Unreal Engine 3.

>>Sure that sounds pretty neat, i'll give it a shot, how much is it?

Well we have the regular edition for $49+tax, or the Collectors Edition for $59+tax, or even better the Collector's Edition w/ stuff $79+tax.

>>Oh, well i guess i'll just take that one

Ok, which one? The standard or the censored?

>>Wait... what?

I'd assume it was locked due to two reasons.

1. Complaints from all the Elin thread haters who are fed up with the new threads created all the time.

2. The replies were mostly just the same thing as in other threads and EME doesn't want too many threads with the same complaints.

Of course the poll showing EME is going against 80% of their customer's wishes weren't exactly what they wanted on the front page either. And it still confuse me how any company can opt for a decision that is hated by 80% of their customers.

Like is this how it is going to be? 80% of the customers ask for a new mount, and EME replies back "Sorry, not enough interest to add more mounts."

It was locked because it was once again another repeat thread. Also 80% of their customers is a complete lie. More like 80% of the fans of a single race out of 7 on a forum for a game that's 2 months from release which has already been proven to be not even 10% of all their potential customers. The poll doesn't even show how many people voted. Just % of the choices made and you didn't even have the option of improving the changes as one of the choices. It was a completely useless biased poll that had no chance of getting any accurate reading. Considering how fast the poll got locked I doubt more than 100-200 people if even that voted on it.

Then why, pray tell, did EME censor Elins in your mind?

I'm not a mind reader. I don't have a fly on the wall of their offices. I don't know Korean culture. I do know that, about 12 years ago, or so, at the first or second AnimeExpo a Japanese company pulled a very funny sexual comedy because a local newspaper called it "Japan's latest export, animated child porn." The Japanese company demonstrated great sensitivity to image concerns, wouldn't even allow a third party company to license and release it here and it was years later before the video actually showed up on the market.

But, that was more than a decade ago, and a Japanese company, not a Korean one. Those image concerns should be past tense. Given the great influx of anime in this country, and the ready availability of adult anime in this country and the mildness of EME/BH's offering in comparison to that anime, some of which would bother me and I'm pretty insensitive to this type of stuff, their actions aren't very logical.

But, as I said, I don't know Korean culture. Chinese are viewed as aggressive. Japanese are viewed as passive and shy away from negative publicity. What are Koreans? It could be they wanted to avoid negative publicity and underestimated just how aggressive, persistent and vocal Americans can be, resulting in the very publicity they hoped to avoid.

I just know that if they had let the game fly under the radar, weathered the odd stuffed shirt article, there would have been no problems as the Elin are harmless in comparison to other public offerings found at Amazon and even your local Best Buy. The way they are acting, which is turning a stone ear, indicates that the backlash took them by surprise and they are not accustomed to this type of reaction, so maybe Korean society is more like Japanese society, which is heavily passive in nature.

You got almost your entire post wrong there.

The poll says 80%. And last I checked this section was not called "Elins" it was called "Races", so anyone had equal chance at voting. Claiming the "Races" forum is only inhabited by Elin players seem like quite a stretch, doesn't it? And even if it was only Elin players, it shows that at least next to nobody playing the race wants the changes.

And have you ever studied statistics? During American elections they do not have people go around and ask every single American "who do you think will win?". They ask random people at random locations. And forum users are pretty much random people from random places. I doubt we have 90 members from New York and only 3 from Los Angeles and it gets New York biased on polls. I don't need more than a couple hundred of the customers to vote, to get a decent estimation of what people think. We've already seen that the people on these forums consist of 70% not-Elin players, so it will not be biased in favor of Elins opinions, but reflect all races opinions on the subject.

The poll doesn't show how many voted, because I screwed up and picked the larger one thinking it would be clearer text, but missed that it didn't include voter count. I changed the settings now, and it is 83% of 136 voters right now. That means 23 forum users have voted for the current armors, and 113 for the originals.

The poll options are to reflect what we have. We have the armors EME wants us to have, and we have the armors EME had as base models that we could get if EME wished to let us. Theoretically I could have any amount of speculating choices. "If the armors have more details", "If the armors restore bellybuttons", "If the armors have camel toes", "If they add more shading"... it just wouldn't be an accurate poll if I had to include all possible future changes. I opted for only the real alternatives that we have. (And which we get by buying the game or modding it)

And the poll was in no way biased. You might disagree with the wording "censored", but it isn't like it changes which armor we are talking about. If I had written "The superior American version" or "The disgusting Japanese version", the results would have been the same. Thread replies could have varied though. But the thread was for polling, not discussing the same thing as in all other threads.

The poll is also external, so even if the thread is locked, others can still vote in it. So assuming people spot it before it reaches like page 2/3, the accuracy of the poll will just increase. However, I can at least assure you that I haven't personally spread this poll anywhere else, in an attempt to get some cheap votes. But I can't guarantee nobody else hasn't posted it at their local "pro-Elin" forum. Then again, I can't guarantee you haven't posted it on your Elin-hating forums either.

I play fair, but the question is if others do.

A non-biased poll would have had the choices "1. Original designs, 2. New designs, 3. New designs if they are improved upon". The word "censored" is always viewed negatively but "new" doesn't make it have a positive or negative bias. The 3rd choice is because if I'm to believe what so many people have been saying at this point there are more people who have given in to the reality that EME will never do a revert and simply want the designs of the changes to be improved which is reasonable. Not including that 3rd choice is going to cause those people to either not vote or vote on the 1st choice because it's the closest thing available to the choice they would of picked. Also for the record I don't hate the Elin, I'd even play as one if there was a male equivalent (the popori don't count to me) simply because I don't play female characters in mmos.
