Looks fine to me, bro.

Me thinks thou dost protest too much...

You're telling me you think:

couldn't stand to use some improvement? To me those shorts don't look like they belong at all.

Bringing the original armor texture down lower, blending it into the pants so it looks like a cohesive unit would have looked pretty good... Doing something like turning the hip/side armor into a full skirt would have looked great, in my opinion. This just looks bad.

TERA before localization: â–²
TERA after localization: â–
What people want is to be able to choose: ▲ or ■ & the freedom to make it in to ♣ if they desire.

It's bot complicated.

You're right: the hue on the boots is different from that of the gloves. It also appears to be plate on the hips whereas the gloves are made of cloth or leather.

That whole outfit sucks. The shorts were probably just made to suck to be in line with the rest of the outfit's suckiness.

Well see, it could stand to use some improvement. Hell, if they want to redesign the armor around the shorts, whatever - I'd just like to see the Elin armor be a little more in-line with everything else I've seen from Tera.

1. It won't affect your enjoyment of the game because it has zero bearing on gameplay.

One of Tera's major selling points is that it's aesthetically pleasing, very pretty to look at. I feel the armor change ruined that factor for several of the Elin armors - and if you play Elin you'd probably be seeing those armors a lot. It's kind of like a dead pixel - relatively small thing all-in-all, but perpetually annoying all the same.

2. It was censored to make it less weird to the US audience.

Speaking as a player trying to get as many people to come over to Tera from my WoW guild, I'm PRAYING that no one looks at the Elins and says "WTF is THAT thing?!". The Elins being in panties would've made it that much harder for me to argue that it's nothing and they should try the game anyway.

I can understand that - doesn't bother me personally, but I can see that it does bother some. That's fine, and if En Masse thinks they can sell more copies with the censorship than without, that's fine too. I just wish they'd done a half decent job of it - and it does make me a little concerned for the quality of their "localization" of other areas of the game.

Which is why having an official "optional" patch would be an ideal solution. Your buddies from WoW can't flip out because TERA out of the box would show the modified Elins. If they want the original game all they have to do is download it from the official site.

In essence what EME is doing is supporting a mod on official terms which is not part of the TERA launcher. This mod has to be kept up to date by the individual user if they want to retain the original graphics.

There are other ways around this issue such as modifying the EULA to deny responsibility for applying KTERA assets. This would be financially cheap to apply if not free but personally I'd want to keep things official because EME can be public about their decision which could provide them with some positive publicity.

You all keep repeating the optional patch would be ideal but the fact of the matter is regardless of if it would be or not EME doesn't want to do it, or a toggle option. No matter how many times you repeat it if the company in charge doesn't want to do it then they aren't going to friggin do it.

I sort of wish EME would at least hand out some information regarding the armors.

It always feels so silly when they reply that they think this is the best decision, without supplying any additional information. If they have a survey saying 10 000 for changes and 3 000 against, it would be so easy to drop this discussion.

There really is no reason to hide the facts of how popular the changes are, unless that is a lie and they are hated.

The longer no information is shown, the more obvious it becomes that it was just a decision made over a cup of coffee one afternoon.

So, being a fan of strike witches, i'm deeply sadden of the American change of the Elin.
I mean how can En Masse be concerned about the Elin earning the game an M rating when you have the Castanic wearing practically nothing at all. Last time I checked sexual themes earn most games M ratings.

Lack of clothing, tons of cleavage, and huge boobs... I'm pretty sure that alone can give this game an M.

So why not just bring the old adorable Elin back. :(

Because the moment you have boobs you're over 18 :O, it's common sense!!

People claim they're "Mature" yet they're quite the opposite, Elins are the oldest race they just LOOK young. People need to grow up, next time you see a flat chested woman tell her she's a child and shouldn't show skin. Like I've said in many post Castanic's look younger then 18 to me, yet they wear a string for armor but it's okay because she has boobs :O.

Not only is it annoying that they censor something for such a childish reason, they make it look so BAD!

Also what child has hips like that? Honestly...
