Then again, she's not an American, and lacks the feminist ideals you want to impose on me. Your puritan roots are starting to show.
Thanks for the laugh. You know nothing about me and my ideals. For your information, I could write you an essay about the corruption of feminism. But thanks for the laugh nontheless. ;)
I think this argument has come full circle. Again.
I'd like to remind the race forums that calling others names and grieving, such as calling elin players "pedo" and other such derivatives, likewise those of us in the elin community that do the same to the none elin community, this is against the forum rules. It's also in very bad taste.
There has been a sort of factioning off of those whom are anti-censorship, pro censorship and those who simply want better quality censorship. A factioning I believe is the opposite of the spirit of tera online itself.
If I were a moderator I can think of a ton of threads started lately that are solely for the purpose of "trolling" others, on all 3 sides of the fence. This makes ALL of us look bad. I've been on these forums for roughly 4 days. I must say that I am disgusted by all of it. And I can in fact understand why some would skip this game entirely for fear of ridicule for their chosen races. No one wants to play a game where they will be made fun of for something as small as the avatar they chose to personify in a digital fantasy reality.
I ask that while everyone is entitled to their opinions that we treat each other with more respect, remember that someone that you perceive as trolling or aggressive may be doing so because you did something they perceived as the same thing.
All 3 sides have their valid points.
The anti-censorship side wants their views to be heard with out being called a pedophile(which btw is a serious accusation). Most of them (myself included) view censorship as if you are being lied to or are being with held something that others are freely allowed purely based off your location which is a sort of discrimination. We would have this view regardless if the elins wore panties or full length camo pants originally.
The pro-censorship crowd wants to disallow any possibility that an underage individual may be sexualised and removed of their childlike innocence until of age. They wish to protect them in any form. I assume many of these individuals are parents or care takers of children and are naturally so protective.
The artistic quality control crowd ( I call them this to differentiate them from the pro-censorship crowd) doesn't care if they are censored or not, but simply wants the quality of artwork to be high, rightly so considering the amount of money we all want to put in to this game. I can agree with this crowd myself.
WE ALL WANT Tera to be the best game it can be, but remember a game is only as good as it's community. We are the games first community. We set the standard for all of the future players as well. Let's try not to diminish our own experiences and those of others with such hateful behavior. We're better than that.
I am appalled at how everyone has forgotten what this thread was originally about. In a matter of a few posts the message was thrown out the window and is now filled with nothing but hate and pure garbage for 64 pages. Man you guys are disgusting. Is this what the community is all about in the end. No support, no acceptance and most of all, no respect for the feelings of others. its not the censorship that's going to be turning people away from this game it's the idiots in this thread. Heck, I'm probably an idiot to even try to redeem this thread. I wish censorship wasn't such a big problem here in the USA, but it is. People are just too overly sensitive on every side of this stupid Elin issue.
Also, you don't seem very fond of TERA. It was stolen, according to you. You find the marketing insulting, and your dislike the way the Western society works. So I have to ask you: Why are you here? Go play KTERA/JTERA. Or just don't play TERA. Leave the rest of us alone.
I'm fond of TERA, just not EME/BH. However, the more I learn about the company, the less rosy the future of TERA looks. And stolen is not according to me. TERA's lead designer was convicted and jailed, for stealing secrets from NCSoft. I read the New York based indictment, and it's pretty damning. Good luck with playing further than the beta.
As for Western society, what can I say? Destian is a perfect example of our society; never listens, refuses to review supporting data, is firm in his righteousness. You seem to have a problem with eye candy; my Eastern society wife picked through a hundred of my anime posters and instead of a G rated one, put a nude in her tv room and another nude in the hallway. Western society is too…uptight. It needs to relax and be more accepting of foreign ideas. This isn't the first time I fought this battle. Foreign movies, anime, should be a vehicle for expanding our horizons, yet we "Westernize" it to the point of being unrecognizable. TERA is an Asian game. It should not be ashamed of its origins or ideals. Saying TERA had to be modified to be more acceptable to our society is a joke, because it means that it had to be modified to protect us, no, you, from foreign ideas. Cute little fox girls in slinky attire, which is commonplace overseas, is a foreign idea BH is afraid to unleash on America's non-anime familiar society. So sad.

Come on, come clean. You object to eye candy, a mainstay of the feminist, no makeup, no fan service movement, stand behind it instead of trying to one up someone. Be proud of what you are.

I know I shouldn't be feeding you. But if you went back and read my posts, you'd see that I have nothing against eyecandy. I love the fan service in TERA, and I'm very proud of "what" I am. What I don't enjoy is when people abuse the concept of censorship to justify their desire to see eyecandy and insult anyone who has actually suffered from censorship in scenarios that matter. People that I happen to know very closely.
Before you make accusations and petty insults, understand your opposition and take the time to read their statements before swinging blindly in the dark. Have a wonderful day!

Some of the worst of community on display, yarr. You'd think they were arguing over something life-threatening with all the vitriol on both sides, but nope. Shorts on a character in a game. lol.

One, chill. Two, before you start swinging yourself, make sure your posts say what you think they say. I don't know you, so all I have to go on is what you post. I have read your posts and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong and not afraid to admit it. However, below is a post you made twice previously:
"What bothers me the most (and the reason for which I'm replying in this thread again) is that you use censorship and all those "big talk" concepts to try and justify that you just want more eye candy.
That, to me, is more corrupt and flawed than censorship itself."
I've read it a dozen times, and like I said, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but all I can glean from that paragraph in context to eye candy is negative. And being negative to eye candy says something about you, and you are the one saying it. The first sentence dismisses eye candy as simply unworthy, which is mild. But apply the corrupt concept is where I trip up. You might be only trying to apply it to the use of censorship and big talk, but if that were truly what you wanted to say, you should have left out the eye candy bit.
"What bothers me the most (and the reason for which I'm replying in this thread again) is that you use censorship and all those "big talk" concepts to try and justify what you want. That, to me, is more corrupt and flawed than censorship itself."
This is what you should have written to avoid the impression I have about you. It gets across what you say now that you wanted to say then. This thread is 64 pages long and I'm NOT going to backread every single post to ensure you just didn't post a poorly written post.
Again, if I'm wrong, I apologize. Just keep in mind that I can only ready your posts, not your mind. And bear in mind, implying that what we are doing is corrupt is saying we are corrupt, and that is a petty insult. You should have said: "That, to me, is more flawed than censorship itself." If you have a thin skin, then be careful how you phrase things. Again, I understand people don't think through posts for hours before posting, and if I misinterpreted a perceived insult, I'm sorry.

Obviously another person who doesn't bother to read the posts to understand the underlying discontent far exceeds shorts on a character. Nice troll.
This is all just dumb for the following reason; Rated Mature. What that means is that everyone should be 17 or older. http://www.esrb.org/ has the ratings guidelines. There shouldn't be any problem with the game having panties. Here is what it says:
MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
You see that part? SEXUAL content. Now there isn't any nudity or "nipple slips" anywhere in the game that is "REAL". It is best classified as artful nudity with regards to a few statues that show breasts in the game. I would argue that the art work for the races as originally intended is just that ART. It isn't graphic sexual content and nudity. It in no way fits that and should be allowed. It isn't pushing the grounds of "morals" in this regard. If you go that route then perhaps you should look at all the unprovoked murdering that goes on in these games first. In particular this one as you have to initiate combat.
I believe murder is worse than a little T&A and really there isn't any of that with regards to the Elin models. So before people think to address this perhaps they should take on the bigger issue of violence. (note the HEAVY sarcasm because of their hypocrisy being lost on them)
Now if you still wish to pursue that argument little girls are being portrayed as sexual underage HUMANS and not as another race that is far older, then bestiality should also be addressed as they have the Popuri. Some "furries" "might" get their jollies from looking at a dog person. So you should then remove them from the game just to prevent some one from looking at a toon (aka in game character) in a sexual way. Really this isn't an eC rated game. If that is what you want then get Hello Kitty online. If you are getting this game for your children then be a parent and not get it for them if you find it has objectionable material. That is one of the things about being a parent is about. You decide for your children NOT everyone else.
I think "pedo" is a very positive word though. It implies you love more humans on the planet than other people do. It is not that far off from being called a saint.
Naturally those who use the words have no clue and think it is actually a negative word. Works out fine for me. They think they are insulting me, and I just smile from the praise.
Actually, the term "pedophile" refers to a psychological disorder where a person is ONLY attracted to prepubescent girls. Then again there are people who are only attracted to the same gender, or anime characters, or fat people. Lol. It's pretty obvious that human beings don't consider sex, or physical intimacy, to be limited to natural desires- procreation. It's much more psychological than it is physiological.
The funny thing about the armor changes is that it's obviously attempting to disguise their sexuality, and make them appear more like children. Yet their long, developed legs, and shapely hips, are those of an adult. Making it contrary to that assumption. So ironically, the result is making people more "creeped out" for being attracted to them, since now they look even more like children.
Current social conventions preclude adults and children from sharing affection, through physical intimacy. There was a time when this was true of homosexuality, but not anymore. I suspect a similar change will occur between children and adults, in time. Ultimately though it's not about age, or physical differences. If two people love each other and want to share that affection through physical intimacy, I see nothing wrong. Although admittedly in what form physical intimacy would take, between a child and an adult, would be limited.
Personally, I find any relationship that is based solely on lust, to be repulsive. The desires are perfectly healthy, but to act solely on those desires without full consideration of another human being, treats the other person as less than a person. As a "piece of meat". When you act out of love, you take into full consideration of another person's feelings. It's acting on feelings that are shared; reciprocated.
When segregation was the norm, interracial sex was severely discriminated against, and in some states it was illegal. The same applied to homosexual acts/relationships. Yet in both cases, and even with this topic of "love of children", society says one thing- and does another. There's a legitimate reason why people feel the way they do, but out of fear of exploring and accepting it, they're simply shunned or even prosecuted. Interesting to note is that often this "say one thing, do another thing" situation, often involves a double standard. Such as, it's ok for a Caucasian male to have sex with an African-American female. But frowned upon when it's an African-American male having sex with a Caucasian female. (Not today, but "back then") Or it's more acceptable if an adult woman has oral sex with a boy (prepubescent, or under the legal age). Yet not ok and most definitely illegal, deserving of the worst possible punishment imaginable, if it's an adult male and a young girl. Ridiculous.
