Ok, correction, it seems it isn't right for Korean, or Japanese, and the Swedes are crazy. jk
it's odd that they used it in the English version though since neither of the languages they would of sourced it from use that version.

Threatening a smacking, yeah I would consider it good natured ribbing, and even actually hitting the other person lightly, like a light punch to the shoulder. To each their own though, still wouldn't consider it being offended.

A "good natured ribbing" includes smacking your friend around...
That's only excusable if you're utilizing of the "benefits" of having said friend and they like it.
