Female here too, and I play almost exclusively male characters in games unless I have no choice in the matter. Most of my Tera boys are castanic (for the hotness) or popos (for the cute kitten factor!). If I'm going to look at a character's back-end while gaming, I'd rather it be a male one! The only females I actually like in Tera are the femani, and I have one of those as well.
I'd never EVER play an elin. I find them annoying and ugly to the extreme, and the thought of having to spend my gaming time looking and listening to one - ugh, just ugh. :P
Guy irl but play mostly female toons (male slayer though because they. look. badass.)
But my reasoning is so because when I looked through armors for both male and females and all races, I didn't find any armor that made me go "OMG YES!". There's a few leather male armor sets that look decent but the heavy armor just feels way too...clunky. I do like the higher level (like abyss armor) for female castanics though. Sure it's low cut but it's not just a flat out bikini. Also female sorc hips = hypnohips lol
I might change my mystic to male high elf though since I played around with the sliders a bit more and made one I was satisfied with.
Overall though when I create a character, I put in a lot of work, male or female, because I am HUGE on aesthetics. Everything has to flow from the armor sets to the skill movements. Just the one thing that bothers me about male castanics is the way they always kinda have that looking-up-sorta-cocky look lol but when you're playing you hardly realized that feature.
I have both male and female characters. I'm male in real life and to me I just pick whatever I want to play at the the time. No real reasoning other than that, I'm not playing for overly sexualized women or men. I just pick a class, race, and gender that works for me at the time. Simple as that to me.
Well I'm a female, and attracted to men and women, and play male and female characters, but generally I just play a certain race/gender because I like the design.
My first character, and my main is an Elin and I also play a male Cata. I'm planning to roll a Baraka, a female Aman, and possible a female Cata, Popori or High Elf.
I don't think I would play a female human because the skin tones are fairly muted and bug me, male humans because they look like steroid monsters, and male Amans because, while they have beautiful designs, they just don't seem to appeal to me.
As a female- I generally play females, but occasionally I'll play a male due to the fact that I have a tendency to rp myself.
Now- I rp with big personality- so my male High Elf sorc. is a walking oxymoron, but it's so much fun to talk about him and think "What would he say/do?"
Currently- he and my main are the only characters I have- and are the only characters I am allowed to have on the RP server, but when I get more character-slots I'll likely make another character and flip a coin to see what gender I'll be.
I play exclusively old men in MMO's for a couple of reasons.
First, I'm older than most of the people I find myself playing with, for some reason. (I'm not old, just I keep getting into guilds / parties with youngsters).
Second, people seem to NEVER pick the older, full facial hair model on human males, so I generally stand out.
Way back in the FF XI days, i think I was the only male human with the older gentleman look with a full beard. Everyone else was the multitude of edgy young pretty boy, or a mithra.
In Tera, it's even worse. Every party I'm in, it looks like I'm the grandpa of a traveling Elin group, or the crotchety old timer in robes while everyone else is a young, hip castanic male group with washboard abs.
