Please fix Elin weapon range

I really try to avoid heated threads like these, but I have to this time, since I play both an elin zerker and an elin lancer. I don't play pvp so my experience comes from pve solely. Before I continue. For the nth' time, elins are NOT little girls. I would explain more but this is not the topic for it.

Anyway, continuing. I picked elin for no other reason than looks. The sight of seeing something that looks weak actually kicking the butt of a very large monster derives some satisfaction here. Sue me for that. :P ... I did note however a few things about hitboxes indeed. I also had an amani lancer, and as that race, I didn't have many of the hitbox and damage problems I have on an elin. I end up taking a lot of damage when for no reason, attacks go around my defenses if I am ever slightly angled. So as defenders, elins might actually be underpowered. As for range. I don't know. Never played a popori so I have no idea until this thread about their lack of range compared to elin. If the devs want to keep trying to balance this, good for them. Though I'd prefer them to increase the range of popori and other classes instead of reducing elin range, which would make elin melee classes next to unplayable.

EDIT: To add, the quickest solution, and the one I know would please the OP, would be for the devs to stop caring about what classes people would avoid or prefer and go straight for realistic, giving all races and genders their respective attack and hit boxes according to their size and animations. That would most probably make most elin players in the future chose ranged or support classes.

Overall game balnce in this game meke me sad. That is only of the examples how to not balance game. The smallest hitboxes + the smallest model + the longer range = just "great work at balance" game.

You know in PvE those make no difference correct? Small hit box means rush pushes you aside, take side damage. Long reach attack hit you from behind, having gone over your head. Reach make's no difference as mob will be will be point blank range regardless. Small model again make's no difference.

In PvP those make no more of a difference. Small hit box still get's hit in an ark or AoE attack. Long reach changes nothing, the reach is +1m more, if reason you are dead learn to play. Model again has nothing to do with things.

Long story short complaining, is for 5 year old's.

long story short, you're mistaken.

or you know this to be true and you're defending it anyway because you like elins

one of the two

Kind of funny that all the people arguing against the OP have Elin avatars.

Anyway, I thought the range of all the classes were supposed to be the same, at least, that's what they were saying at the start of the game.

They said Elins would have a shorter reach, but cover more ground each swing, while bigger characters would have longer reach, but cover less ground each swing, balancing it out to be the same range.

Conversely, because these races have shorter limbs compared to larger races, it is more difficult to attack enemies, and this would be a disadvantage. These elements would have a big impact on game balance, and certain races would then be preferred or avoided, and those who wanted to play the disadvantageous races would become frustrated with TERA.

However, simply ignoring the visual differences between races would create a potentially worse problem: lack of authenticity and immersion. This has been a large point of conversation and debate among TERA’s developers. In the end, we decided to make the hitboxes and attack ranges as close to the same size as possible across the races, although not completely equal, so that players would not get frustrated while playing the game.

For example, Barakas and Amani have slightly smaller hitboxes for their size, while the hitbox for the Popori is slightly larger than their size. There is still a difference, but it isn’t as major as the physical size of the model would lead one to believe.

The attack range went through a similar balancing process. The attack animation for the Popori is indicative of their slightly longer attack range, while Amani and Barakas hardly move forward. When they attack, the ranges for races have been appropriately modified and balanced to match their animations.

In short, we tried to make the game as balanced as possible while still maintaining the individual flavor of each class. Therefore, hitboxes and attack ranges have been configured in such a way that they are similar without being gamebreaking, but are not exactly the same size.

Range on attacks are still highly trivial. I mean, do you only see people attack at max distance, or do they happen to ever stand closer together?

What is the reach of an archer? Reach of a sorcerer? If reach is what makes or breaks the game, then I think I've found your PvP classes.

ACTUALLY range attacks on this game are NOT highly trivial, High end pvp between really good players deppends on these little things, All the while an ELIN zerker has the smallest hit box compared toa human zerker, they have a better block resulting in that. a human can be side stepped easily and get hit while an elin is more covered. and has a 8 Meter range on there smasshes. 8 METERS i have about 6-7 meters. which is a whole lot in this game. Better block ratio to there hit box and more movement with a small hit box, elins can LUNG everywhere and dodge very easily. they cover way more ground and get away a lot better. all in all ELIN's are the most overpowered class in terms of pvp and need a fix. My servers top pvpers all know this and they are starting to re-roll elins.

Not to mention on a side note - Yeah elins may be overpowered in pvp... but thats the least of my worries. Block and character lunging needs to be re-worked completely. Moves that lung you forward bug out and register dmg behind the player and block is totally negated and worthless. just another thing i thought id add to this so called "Best PvP game"

"EDIT" but for whatever reason when a elin is blocked and my character literally attacks over her and hits behind it doesnt register.

Oh and not to mention you cant even do a proper counter. sitting there attacking ona blocked character constantly i do a staggering strike and it doesnt register becuase it brings me forward and that person is doing a dash attack - i get hit, the person doesnt. please fix the dash attacks in this game and character collision
