Everything in America has to be politically correct. Everything. Even our damn video games.

What is this about "unrealistic ideals?" First, Tera is a game set in a fantasy world. Every race beside human does not exist in reality. Unrealistic means it is not portrayed in accordance with reality. So is it a problem that the Popori are unrealistic in that they walk on two legs and talk, or that the Baraka do not exist, or the Amani, or elves...? Also, to say that the female character models are unrealistic while the male character models are not is to say that all females are either figureless or fat and that all males are super jacked. You assume that the male character models accurately represent men. I often find that the only people who want to see men in very sexualized clothing are a certain type of other men, not women. Also, I do not want to play a 20 lb overweight, balding male in a game, much like most people don't want to play themselves, rather how they want to see themselves in a fantasy world.

...Minus the crotch bulge, the easier thing to ask for would have been BODY SLIDERS.

I hate how slim the thighs of the Castanic females are. I want HUMAN THIGHS on my Castanic.

Body sliders would be great. Not all human males have to be buff, nor do all high-elves need to be stick-thin. (Their proportions make little to no sense. Yes, I know it's a fantasy game, but they look so.........alien. Long necks, huge [filtered] and god help you if they bend at the waist. They may snap in half!)

-clears her throat-
Anyway...

BODY
SLIDERS

Could we please look into improved physics animation for, say, Castanic male bulges, and give them at least as much impact as the Castanic female chests?

I've never gotten that notion for some reason, that bigger bulges would equalize with bigger breasts. One could argue for bigger bulges on the basis of a more natural look alone, if such a thing applies. Breasts I see as, well, females got 'em (and men do too, though they are rudimentary). If the idea is to fight fire with fire then one should demand that the males have bigger breasts! I wouldn't want that, of course, so I hope it's enough to argue simply on the basis of what is natural or too exaggerated. Besides, the males do get bigger breasts in a way, but they get them in terms of pecs. It's not their fault that they don't jiggle.

My roomie voted for Castanic females with crotch bulges. :trollfaise:

The men in this game are hotter than the females. Sure, skimpier armor on girls, but that's not what makes them hawt. The males have a better body structure and that is what makes them many times more attractive than that many of the females could be. Besides, the HAWT Castanic male in one of the trailers is what made me want to play this game.

This is a highly stylized fantasy MMO, a eastern MMO no less. Stupid costumes and ridiculously sexualized female (and to a lesser extent male) player models are the norm.

Although I do want to clarify something - while a lot of male character models are idealized - sorry no guy is going to look like "insert generic action game protagonist" without AT LEAST a personal trainer and several hours of gym time and a specialized diet - as well as steroids.

They are all ultimately what the character model designers think what we want to look like. They are supposedly, our idealized projections. It's why western games tend to have male protagonists who exhibit extreme machismo, while eastern games tend to have male protagonists who exemplify masculine beauty. Both cultures games usually have protagonists that exhibit what are typically male emotional ideals, stoicism, decisiveness, etc.

In other words, designers typically make male characters as guys who we would want to be like (or think we would like to be like).

Female characters on the hand, to put it simply not so much. They are, to put it bluntly, eyecandy, [filtered] and [filtered], or whatever fetish they are trying to include or appeal to. They don't design a female character as women who we would want to be like. They simply there to look good.

That is the problem that some people have.

This ,admittedly, doesn't have much to do with MMOs though, since avatars are usually just blank slates.

As for Tera, Castanics are the eye candy race, all they need are some more overtly muscled/bulkier castanic males and I think that would more or less do it for 99% of the males and females who play this game.

Cheers to this thread! Speaking as a female who was delighted to find mods that allowed all my DA origins male characters to play bare chested and even show some thigh, I would love to see more male skin in this game.

Yes those high elf females manage to fight with surprisingly little support. Perhaps they have helium in their glandular tissue. Or perhaps we are playing a fantasy game. If I wanted realism, I'd be playing World of Tanks.

I like sexy armors on both sexes. For those who don't, bring on the Tee shirts, then everyone will be happy.

A very well made point actually. I tend to see male characters with a personality and quirks to boot. In a way its an attractive quality in itself over bland female eye candy.

Female Aman should be a race that should be armored up like a tank when in metal armor just because they don't seem the type to mess around with looks and just want to be AWESOMELY ARMORED UP!!!!!!
