So, Lime Odyssey can manage this, but...TERA?

So I just found this video today, old news for some I'm sure, but. Wow. It's kind of depressing a game like Lime Odyssey can manage this (hyped though it might be) but one of the biggest-budgeted MMOs in years leaves Elin and Castanics locked in place.

Super lame, guys. :(

Yea, it is kind of sad that EME only caters to the action freaks, and seem to not have invested a single hour into graphics to appeal to those who like the characters in the game.

Sometimes I ponder if I should just pick up a 3D girl game, since those tend to be good at character creation. But they usually lack any real content to do after making those great characters.

Just to point out that game is gender locked in Korea. ON the game design i didn't saw anything much better at any point of that movie.. small girls with omoungous boobs.. go play aion slide it to tiny char and put the chest size maxed out and you get that...

I think the point is that you can change the ears and hairstyle seperately.

Unlike a number of our races - Elin: preset ear/hair/tail combos, Castanics: preset hair/horn combos, etc. To say nothing of the face specific eyes/facial features. Never quite understood why this game's character creator is like that, tbh.

i think OP is trying to point out the fact that the player in that vid is changing the ears of their toon without having to change the hair, unlike elins ad castanics (but horns for them).

but personally im glad BHS/EME spent more time on developing the combat and gameplay itself over the character creation. i mean the CC is good and has enough options to make characters unique and awesome, and in a game with already top of the line graphics!

basically im saying i wont QQ for something that not as important as whats already been given to us.

if it's only about the hairstyles, i'd say the devs at BH definitely will have to take a look at offering some more diversity and freedom later on. maybe starting with second part of QoA patch. it's pretty obvious that the character creation is lacking in several parts and needs some additional work.

given release of GW2 with its superior character creation pretty soon IMO adding to Tera's character creation is a VERY obvious choice. or should be...

...Because of course it'd be the art team working on gameplay and combat mechanics.

yes, the art team will usually work with the other developers to make sure it all fits together. if they did everything separately then just hoped to mash it together in the end we'd end up with a horrible game, which TERA is not as we've all experienced by now. the art team MUST work with the others to make sure graphics and animations fit together among other things, so putting more time into that "developing the combat and gameplay" from the art side of things and making sure it all fits together is more important then a small feature within character creation.

but, you obviously know more about game development then the developers of TERA and know where they better allocate their resources and time then they do, so who am i to offer an opposing point of view?

Pretty sure art team does not program the character generator or the way the game reads your character data. They make models and that is it.

Of course your quote was a bit general on the whole art topic so you aren't wrong in general, just not very accurate for the thread topic.
