Unnecessary and Inconsistent Elin Armour Changes

Apparently EME was forced to censor Elins because of Feminist Groups and The Churches. I'll link the article when I find it. It was with an interview with the EU publishers.

Why? Enlighten me with your opinion on this subject.

No complaints about REAL CHILDREN at the beaches, but more clothed pretend children in a game is a problem.

Actually there was a recent commercial that was pro-green/taking care of the environment and people complained about the little girl being shown in a bikini.

I also do not put my little girls in bikinis.

You can find people complaining about just about anything, though. Just because someone finds something you do offensive doesn't mean you should bend over backwards to accommodate them (especially since then someone else will probably find what you just changed offensive to them, for whatever reason - the Elin issue is a good example).

I think the only valid reasons I've seen about this whole thing is that some people are uncomfortable playing with/as an Elin with the original armor, and there's fear of a media backlash. For the former, it's easy enough for EME to add an option that allows people to use the original armor textures; that lets those of us that dislike the poor quality of the censorship to use the originals, while those who don't like skimpy clothes on small (though not exactly "young") girls can stick with the modified version. For the latter, consider that this is an M-rated game; while there's still been some backlash about certain M-rated games already (hello, GTA), it hasn't exactly done a whole lot to dissuade those companies from making their games, and I think we've reached a point where "just another possibly offensive game" isn't really even newsworthy.

I honestly don't mind either way.

It's the other people's obsession I don't understand.

If you want to see how obvious the clipping is ingame here.
I took some video of the armour as well.
TERA Online - CBT5 - Some Elin Outfits (Leather)

Honestly most of the leather armour is fine and hasn't been changed. Most of the changes I can live with. But when something like that armour that was perfectly proper and modest to begin with get's changed or small amounts of belly get poorly textured over - that's when the line gets crossed between 'I can understand why they would do that' to 'why the hell would they do that?'

Just to remind everyone. This isn't a 'do you like the changes thread.' If you're fine with the changes then good for you, son! There's no reason for you to post in this thread.

This is a what's wrong with the changes (bugs, clipping, glitches, texture/dye issues), what armour needs fixing and how can we go about getting the quality brought up to an acceptable standard to make everyone happy. As I've stated before not all the armour needs redoing, so it wouldn't take alot of time or effort. Like the armour in the video the Korean armour could just be used (without the shorts) and that would fix the clipping problems. 5 seconds work. Same with the belly covering. Who cares if some belly is showing? And if they do they may have bigger life problems to deal with.

People said the voice acting was poorly done and then it was redone. People have been saying the same thing about the Elin armour changes in WTERA for much longer and nothing has been done about it. Not even obvious bugs and glitches that, for any other part of the game, would have been fixed a long time ago. I just don't get it.

I thought I'd bring up the fact that in Australia it is illegal for women who are A cups to appear in pornography and it is actually labled as pedophilia.

This is actually completely false. You shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. But hey, don't just take my word for it.

While i agree with you, currently this issue can be 'got around' by simply downloading and applying korean texture files and korean or japanese voice sound files. (many many many people have done this, dont worry about bans, EME would loose to much money if they did ban people)

Secondly, the addition of a new start zone should help, i cant see how they would add the new zone ontop of the IoD, the leveling would be out of wack, However if they re-done the IoD along with this new zone , it may well be possible that a BAM may make an apperance.

I gotta say.

When i first heard about Tera over a year ago, i knew i would buy it, then the CBT's came along, iv been in all of them, both Eu and NA, and irght now..i DONT want ot buy Tera.
However, that being said, i still reserve final judment till after OBT when we finaly see the game we might be buying.

Pretty sure modifying your client is against the rules.

lol so what was the point in adding shorts to that set?? It looks conservative enough...

I brought up these issues in a support ticket, and here was my response:

"While the textures you see now are the planned textures for launch, they are not necessarily the finalized art. The clippings and dye issues are filed as bugs and will be taken care of. It just may be a while before they are worked on because first bugs that affect game play, such as any quest bugs that may still remain, must be dealt with first."

It ain't much, but at least our Elins won't have to run around in the same pair of shorts that defy the laws of physics even if they still have to run around in the same pair of shorts. I completely understand them addressing game-play issues first since this is, in fact, a game. With that being said, there have been instances wherein support GMs have told the public one thing (LFD will only be server-wide, for instance) while the forum moderators have said another (LFD will be cross-server).
