When Choosing Main Race...

What do you base your selection on?
Do you just like how they look? Do you relate to them, personality-wise or style wise? Do you take their lore into consideration? Does your selection closely resemble you or someone you'd want to be?

Personally I like having my main closely resemble myself either by lore, personality or style and then I leave my alts to "stepping into another's shoes", if you will.

I'm a guy but I always choose female, if this were any other game I would probably go with one of the human or elven females or something, but for this game in particular my clear choice is Elin.

I also really like axes and scythes, so berserker will be my class of choice. Which ultimately means I'm going to be an Elin with an axe that's twice the size of me, which I find to be incredibly goddamn awesome.

I am also a guy that always roles female. When making a character I love to make them look as cool (or in the elin's case, cool & cute) as possible. I do sometimes take lore into consideration but rarely. Int the case of my choice (the elin) I definitely did. I never usually make them look how I do or how I want to look, just how I want them to look. I'm very partial to casters (especially healers) and so I like to make my race correspond accordingly. So for me I'm rolling an Elin mystic and an Elin priest~ You dont need to be big and buff to cast a spell or heal a wound. ^_^

I always go by:
My Avatars made to be myself as different races. I'm male but make female Characters.
Even though I'll be RPing my main with share similar personality to myself but with some different things as well.
I've always been Healing classes. Healing out of the other two Roles has always drawn more interest to me than anything else.
I've planned on having a H.E. Priest main and an Aman Mystic Alt.

I am actually surprised voice changers are not used more. I mean if you are a guy playing a female character you can get a voice changer software package so your voice doesnt sound like the wrong gender.

That would add yet another fun layer of "no one is female on the internet"

In most games, I choose elves because I like their elegance and whatnot, but I have never seen something as adorable as an Elin, so I had to choose it as my main's race, and likely all of my alts as well.
Also, I'm a chick IRL. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever run into any girls playing Elin in-game. So far just about everyone I've seen, my own boyfriend included, is a dude playing as one. Lol.
My class is Sorcerer as I'm always a caster in all games, usually a DPS, but once I was a heal/buff caster, which was nice too. Nuking is in my blood though.

I almost always play female characters. I dislike playing a male characters, It just feels awkward to me. When I make a female character she either has to be sexy or cute. Ever since I was a child I've always tried to look my best. I found out about this game before the Elins were even announced as a race, so I was dead set on playing a High Elf Female. After the Elins were revealed I gotta say I fell in love, they were just so cute. I'll be making an Elin Warrior or Mystic as a main and making a Female High Elf Sorcerer(I love their animations)

I usually do as you do OP, make my character, in some way, relevant to me. I never play female characters(no offense I just don't get the idea of it *shrug*). This time I'll prolly end up pickin a High Elf Warrior (weird, I know..but I like it). Even if Elves tend to look feminine, they are usually classy and intelligent :) Great post man, CB3 comin up! :)

You and I are on the same wavelength, OP. I like to make my characters either as much like me as possible (Body-type, posture, or personality)
