RP and ERP are still roleplaying. Just like how a novel and an erotic one are still both stories, albeit with different focus. Same with fics and lemons. Same with manga and doujins. They encompass primarily the same things except, like I said before, they have a different purpose or focus. However, that's not always the case; it's not always porn without a plot. There are stories that have both elements and can pull both off (and yes, I have seen it done. Go look up some good visual novels for some good examples).
That being said, let it be. If they can find somewhere private enough or use a private chat, they have every right to and shouldn't be debased for it. While they certainly cannot do the ERP in public, they can certainly chat about it pubicly as long as they don't go into too much detail. Just how you would tiptoe or not tiptoe around the subject in real life. I do understand that there will be children playing this game, but they will have been exposed to more than this. Besides, this is a mature game and that kind of theme is still allowed to be talked about, even if it cannot be played outright. There's nothing wrong with telling people you are an ERP player.
I'm not an ERPer, but I think it is wrong debase them with insults and try to force a censor on them to keep them quiet.

I have no issues with people who Erp- its like a life pattern as in all story plots- and ye it happens.

Again kids read these forums and I would rather promote roleplay as an education to acting, writing and the arts - than a great way to find an online relationship.
Kinda funny, seems like people are really ready to split off and ruin and judge their own community and the game really hasnt even launched yet. Rping in a game is intended to be fun, sure there are some eye roll moments when people slip up and say your name before its presented, sure some people use some ooc info on occasion, and sometimes you see a couple in a dark corner doing some "things" that you never wanted to see (hear or read). Even the best of rpers slip up and make mistakes and the best rpers always roll with the blows and keep it all in character and try to generally make sure everyone is having fun and tries to keep everyone involved and keeps it in the game. If you have a preference of one thing or another, keep it to yourself and stand by your own rules and regulations of what you should and shouldnt be doing, unless that is your in character and your speaking out ic against the sexual acts done in public on your soap box... then by all means, have a blast! Im hoping that a rp community can be a lot stronger than this in game when launch time comes, on such a small subject, that is all.
The original post seems more like a troll in order to get the rp community to argue and throw fits at each other. Simple as this, you dont do it, then dont do it. You do it, then have at it. Your character wants to lecture at how they shouldn't, keep it in game and in character. If you want to argue back in character, then.... THEN you might start getting into some good rp there!

Now as far as the ERP topic, my wife and I flirt with each other in game (in private of course) with emotes, text, etc., despite the fact we're sitting right next to each other. It's just one more thing to the big list of things we do for each other and it strengthens our relationship and makes her want to pounce on me when we go to bed. /shrug Life is good. :)
I think people tend to take it a little far with public displays of...lewdness (it's certainly beyond "affection" when you're pretend-humping people in a game). Anything sexual should be kept to whispers, party chat, and guild chat (if it's an ERP guild).
I can certainly say that if I'm in a dungeon party with people who are doing nothing but dry humping each other in chat and not getting anything done, I will just leave the party - RP server or not. There's a time and a place.

Whats grand is that Im very opinionated, however Im very much for the freedom of rp and people in general. Im glad someone got the point, there are always going to be people who dont enjoy certain styles of rp. I -could- say I dont think tavern rp is real rp and insult it yada yada yada... does that mean Im right? No. Does that mean that if I dont enjoy it, I have the ability to avoid it myself? Yes, easily. Does that mean it doesnt happen and that other people dont take part in it? No. Should I dictate what other people can rp? YES! lol jk... No is the answer. If you find yourself trying to dictate that, I think you've already run yourself into a corner and signed yourself up for not having fun in the game or with rp, might as well not bother picking the game up or rping b/c you'll probably just end up quiting and being a very grumpy person.

To littleman, do you generally listen to people talking in depth about their escapades? (not sure if thats spelled right.) I dont. Even in a game like AoC, rarely saw or heard of other peoples sexual acts in depth. Ive heard of people being pregnant and having kids... and rumors of people erping... but no in depth descriptions i didnt want to see. Though to be fair, i dont have general/global chat up, simply b/c my character doesnt see what the world is talking about oocly. I mean I know I dont go around hanging out if I see two people standing almost on top of each other in one spot... I generally go the other way or ride by as fast as possible screaming with my eyes closed "I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING LA LA LA LA LAAAAHH" rofl, im jk about that last part.
Is it unrealistic of a world where no one takes part (even if its a fade to black scene) in romance or sexual acts? Sure. I mean alot of people I knew werent cool with it but they'd rp that they just came back from the [filtered] house or do a fade to black scene, and some characters were loners and hermits that didnt really take part in that sort of thing, or warriors who got their high from battle and killing. Some sort of explination of sorts for your character to dodge around that subject in character.
No (real) game was designed for cyber sex in mind (maybe aoc...) however it doesnt stop people from doing it, and it generally doesnt stop people from erping either. If you have morals against it, grand, Im just advising to express it in character and keep the community talking and in general friendly with one another oocly. From my understanding of it, this company doesnt think the rp community is large enough to support more than one server, so yes... if we start splitting ourselves off and judging one another and refusing to rp with one another at this point, we are in fact fubar'd.
So whats your aim to express your morals and dictate what rp is and isnt here? What do you plan to accomplish by doing so? What will you accomplish by doing so?
