RP Community Check List
-What would you like to see?
Run/Walk Toggle ;; This is a universal "Declaration of IC" that is common on multiple forms of RP. Unless you're in an RP guild, or General RP community where finding RPer's is easy - it can be difficult to get RP's started randomly if you can't let people know you are looking for contact. Having the ability to Walk versus running all the time, shows RPer's that you're wanting someone to interact with you - or just strut around showing off how Bad [filtered] your character looks. I still feel that a Run/Walk toggle is the most important immersion emote for RPer's. Considering the animation is already designed and implemented - its also the easiest to put in. Seems the only thing we are missing is the "on/off" switch.
RP Character Profile ;; Every loves to show off their character concept - before they interact with someone. Most players enjoy spilling the beans a head of the game, talking height, weight, eye color, hair color (even though its obvious). Having the ability to customize a small character information tab in your character menu makes for great RP meet and greet. Its nice to judge a few books by their cover, see how developed the character is, or ensure the interaction will go smoothly instead be dull and boring.
RP-PvP Server ;; This is the ultimate form of immersive RP. While text fighting makes for a good advancement of plot and story lines - it doesn't really show off combat skill or prowess based on experience gained in the field or prolonged battle exposure (questing and BG's). Lower recruit levels (lower levels) seek out great warriors (higher levels) for training and protection. Wars between houses, and factions or stopping outlaws from raiding go much smoother RP-PvP servers. Guilds made to Kill PKers would spread justice, and alliances would mean more than just casual dinner conversation. Its easy to say your character is bad [filtered] and can whip anyone - but can you back it up?
Underwear ;; For that awkward moment where Sir Gregory stumbles upon Illunia while she is bathing or changing her outfit. A moment to smile and laugh about how red he gets and how he trips over his words to avoid being caught off guard. Or when Dominic comes out. Ripped and strapping - causing Tianna to fall breathless at his physique. Yes sauntering around in underwear will happen, Pornshire would never be avoided. But good Rper's know how to ignore idiots. Creating these exotic moments is another immersive part of RP. I mean - a "T" rated mmo like WoW has bouncing night elf breasts in underwear - but "M" rated Tera can't get it? I've seen model images, and most characters are naked anyway, it wouldn't be too hard to implement this feature. I can see the bad of course, but I can also see the good...just please give the Elin nightgowns.
/Emote Command ;; This is always a great RP tool. To avoid the dreaded *hits in face*, we can move on to a more gripping interaction. "/emote hits in face" would translate to "Sara hits Regard in the face." I feel that this emotion maker would really help people who don't want to use "Walls of Text" to explain an action, and help them to avoid simple *post* actions that get lost in same colored text walls. Now, walls of text are not always bad, but even using "/emote" or "/action" (to be different) to explain how a person feels or something could be "Sara feels bewildered, broken up by her past and scared with the fear of her future. Her eyes depress to the floor as Regard's word stagger her gaze." I feel this is another important RP tool for non-community RPers.
Sleep Emote ;; Speaks for itself. The ability to lay down on a bed, or campsite. To rest your adventurous head in a nighttime zone allows for better immersion. Truthfully and emote I can see being the last thing implemented, but its one I'm sure people want.
Player Housing ;; Aahh...EQ. Player housing at its best from what I've seen in other MMO's. I again don't really think its a super important RP element, but it would be an amazing feature and probably shoot the RP side of Tera through the roof. The best way to get an RP community, is make Loot items that they can put in their house to make looks sexy and throw parties. Guild Bases are really good too, places for RP guilds to get together and discuss wars and raids, or host RP events. This feature would make the RP nation flourish, but is also the hardest piece to put in when EME is only importing Tera - control over this feature would be limited. But players LOVE housing.
Interactive Environment ;; Like all Traditional WoW Rper's love! An environment they can play with. Players want to be able to click on a chair and sit in it! Items that sit on desks that might activate small animations, or force your character into an RP friendly pose fitting for the situation. It makes dinner parties less awkward for the Castanic female with her leg on one knee, or the Elin that fiddles with the ground. The most common is sitting in chairs, and while I feel it will be something to introduce later due to needing to add in new animations that don't seem to exist, it would make sitting sooo much easier!
Please post any other RP elements you'd like seen in TERA, my goal is to make a HUGE list for the Devs to looks over when considering making the RP population flourish and last.
With enough responses, the Dev's might actually put some of them in!! They've listened to us before, we need to make it known what we as a community want from them!! Otherwise...RP will die.
