Roleplay Server Rules and FAQ

Don't anger them? We're paying customers, we have every right to voice our displeasure. Granted, it's best not to do so in such a negative tone (while I can relate), it's still our hard-earned money.

I'm quite upset to hear there's no RP-PVP servers, but I'm still grateful that En Masse is hearing us--and that means that they're still more than likely listening.

Please, give us a PvP server as well. Unless you really think we're incapable of it, like your advertising seems to point to. /eyeroll

GvG will be consensual for PvE servers, but otherwise the same. The exact specifics on how it is consensual is what we are working on.

So now a guild can't even attack another guild without permission? What the hell guys? Do your really look down on Role Players that much?

And to the others saying don't get them mad; it's OUR money, TERA wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for the customers, they basically work for us. You can be well sure that I'm going to be vocal about something I don't like in a game I paid good money for.

@Changels - Calm down, mate. EME is adding something that _wasn't_even_in_the_plan_ because role players asked for it. And it turns out, the beauty of Role Play isn't only in the ability to grief players smaller than you -- it's also the ability to immerse yourself in a completely different world for a while. And whether you acknowledge that or not doesn't change the fact of it. ;-) Yes, they are banking our money to pay for this game. But that's absolutely no excuse to be rude to them. And they're taking all of our money - casual PvE players, hardcore PvE players, casual PvP players, hardcore PvP players, and everything in between. Dictating to EME from the position of a single (or, honestly, even a couple dozen) player(s) is arrogant, rude, and ridiculous. If you have a concern, or would like to offer a suggestion or make a request, why not - just for the sake of trying something apparently different - offer it up politely, as constructive criticism, instead of ranting on the forum about how you're not going to engage? Coming from a software and hardware validation background, I can think of quite a few reasons to not turn on a RP PvP server during Beta, when they're still trying to shake all the bugs out of the game. And unless there's been a massive influx of "I'll buy Tera, if you guys support RP PVP at launch" emails with visa/mastercard info attached, there may not be sufficient financials to set up a separate RP server pre-launch. Unless you're offering to fund it yourself, perhaps? ;-)

@EME - Thank you -- it's awesome and amazing seeing a game company interacting with their players so deeply! Looking forward to checking out the RP server when it comes online.

@Dezmond- No. You. Are. Wrong. RP is about having ALL POSSIBLE options available to you; not forcing limitations on a gameplay mechanic so it always seems like your character is forever and always the winner. And no this isn't something that was needed; the RP community would have chosen a server on its own REGARDLESS had one been designated for them or not. All this does is split the community where the RP carebears will go PVE and the true RolePlayers who actually enjoy challenge will pick a PvP server on their own. All this does is make the population smaller.

I think you're missing the point of his tantrum-esque raging..

Just think of all the beautiful, delicious drama that we're going to miss out on if there's no OWPvP for the RPers..

RPing in an MMO, instead of, say, a forum, is supposed to make RPing more fluid, more organic, and more open for spontaneous encounters from the community. But without OWPvP, those who want to play the bandit, the outlaw, or the murderous maniac, have to first /w the guy and ask "(Hey, man. I'm a bandit and I kind of want to ambush your group, mind if we /duel?)" That really kills the flow of things, and pushes you outside of your character. Having to fumble around with in-game menus, and duel/deathmatch/GvG requests makes the world feel really artificial, which is exactly the opposite of what RPing is supposed to do.

Thanks, Roda - I did miss that (the forced artificiality issue). What I heard was "What do you mean, I can't slaughter lowbies because I chose to be a bandit? This game sucks! You are my developer slaves, and must do my bidding!"

And what I love RP servers for is that I don't have to endure relentless assaults of the latest internet meme, or the latest kid who discovered Chuck Norris jokes, or the other idiocy of RL being injected into the fantasy world I enter to have fun. It's not about "winning", as his rant declares; but rather about "enjoying the game world, without the intrusiveness of immaturity" (Which would include griefers who try to hide their bullying behind "It's PvP - if you can't handle it, go back to a care-bear server", which is what I heard in the ranting.).
