HERD ALL THE SHEEP

What's this about:

There will be a community event hosted by the Vanarch of Ostagarth and our guild Silent Warriors at around 6pm PST. The premise of the event is to herd sheep. The sheep (Ram Elins at level 1) will be frolicking and grazing around the Vindicator Outpost. What you have to do is claim two of these sheep via beating them in a duel, and then herd them to the safety of Cutthroat Harbor. First shepherd to trade me upon reaching Cutthroat Harbor will win 1,000 gold. However, there is an additional challenge that can be taken. With those same sheep, herd them to Bahaar's Maw in Fyrmount. If you reach that destination With your sheep in-tact, you win 3,000 gold. This means if you won the first challenge, you can proceed to the second challenge and earn a total of 4,000 gold! Or if you don't win the first challenge, you can immediately proceed to go toward the second destination and win that 3,000 gold.

However, this isn't going to be that easy. Sheep are fickle creatures. They won't always run in a straight line, so you have to keep them that way. While on a mount or on foot, you must chase after the sheep that run from your mini-flock. As soon as you touch the sheep, they'll come back to the flock. Be sure to catch them quickly! Be wary of mobs as well. Sheep are not the sturdiest of animals, so keep them away from the Gulas and other nasties of Ostagarth. You may be able to resurrect your dead sheep and continue on, but how many times can you do that?



What's the point:

The person who herds the sheep to the first destination "Cutthroat Harbor", wins the first challenge. The person who herds the sheep again tot he second destination, "Bahaar's Maw", wins the second challenge. The point of this is to herd Ram Elins. If you don't understand this, please ask what the point is in either LFG or Trade in-game.

What's the reward:

1,000 Gold for the 1st Challenge
3,000 Gold for the 2nd Challenge

So allow me to repeat, it's a possibility to earn up to 4k!

This event will ONLY occur if I have the interest of five or more participants. Think about it this way, if there's only five participants, one of those five people will get the reward. You could join as well and make that six, as well as make yourself eligible for that reward. The more the merrier!

Sheep Instructions

For the most part, you want to be the douchiest sheep possible. As such, here are the rules to this.

1. You will be paired with either a SW guildie on their sheep toon, or another mercenary sheep.

2. You as a pair must agree on who would roam first. Upon being dueled and picked into a party, coordinate via whispers with your sheep friend the timing. Upon being picked up, the first one to roam shall count to 10 seconds. At 10 seconds, they will roam. Into BAMs, monsters, simply away, etc. The second sheep will then count to 13 as soon as the other sheep starts roaming, not after they're caught.

3. Being caught means this- your shepherd will run after you and touch his body to yours. This means you're caught, so go back to the herd.

4. The prize for sheep is the total amount of taxes collected since last Friday. The reward will be disbursed to you after the reset on Sunday, so you get a full week's worth of Ostagarthian taxes.

Are groups allowed? ill try to get people in my guild interested. they all cheered me on in the last one, but none wanted any involvement.

Groups ARE allowed. However, only in pairs. That would be the "Shepherd" and his or her "apprentice" per say.

In lieu of that, you must pick who the Shepherd is, the one guiding the sheep. Your apprentice can be there for extra rezzes for your sheep. Be sure to split the prize money with your apprentice, or work out a deal. I don't think they'd like following you for so long without some sort of compensation. =P

This could mean Priests or Mystics would give an advantage. That is not so. There are routes that lead through no mobs, and thus require no ability to rez. Also, the sheep are what imbalances this event. They'll be doing everything they can to get away from their flock in sneaky ways (mainly because the pair of sheep who are the biggest douches win their own prize money).

Now, that does not mean the sheep will run off at any point. They all have set times to roam while being herded, so no two sheep will roam at the same time. You'll have a good allotment of time to get the roaming sheep back into your flock. Just remember, you have two sheep, not one.
