Welcome to the beginning of the political system in TERA!

Starting today, TERA players who meet certain requirements can register as candidates for vanarch. It's not always easy to convince everyone to vote for you instead of your esteemed opponents, though, so we'd like to provide you with a place to discuss your plans, make campaign promises, and show that you are the best-suited character to become a vanarch.

Think of this thread as a televised debate. Everyone's eyes are on you and they're eager to hear what you have to say. They're all waiting for you to assure them you are their champion, and that you will work to make their lives better in TERA!

So if you are a vanarch candidate on Serpentis Isle, give a short introduction of yourself and your vanarchy platform. Heck, start an actual debate if you like. Has another candidate said that good vanarchs should look after their guild first? State why you think that's a bad idea! Do you think declaring war against a smaller guild is great way to promote PvP? Make a stance! The people deserve to know what you believe in. If you aren't running this time, this is an excellent opportunity to find out about the candidate to make an informed choice!

Better yet, challenge the other candidates with your own questions! This is a public debate! Here are some sample questions you can use as a starting point for political discussion:

• What are your priorities for using policy points? Skill trainers? Specialty stores? Raise or lower tax rates first?
  
• What would be your agenda as a vanarch? How do you plan to enact this agenda? With force? With rewards? Will your guild members help with enforcement?
  
• How do you plan to receive feedback or questions on your rule?
  
• If a conflict arises between what's best for the province and what's best for your guild, what will you do?
  
• What makes you the best candidate?

This thread is for vanarch candidates to discuss their stances on various political items. Feel free to address other candidates directly and answer their questions, but please remember to follow the official TERA forum rules. We want a healthy and courteous debate, so be respectful to the other candidates. Remember, the public is watching you!

I am Seikon, the guildmaster for Challenge Accepted. When I was leveling through the zones in TERA, the Velika regions were the ones that I loved most. That's where everyone met each other, had fun, and explored the game. After leaving those regions, I noticed that the game felt different. The community wasn't the same. It wasn't as fresh anymore. I think it still remains true to this day. That is why I wish to run for a province within the Velika regions. I love the community there and I would love to have an impact on it.

So why should you vote for us as Vanarch?

We're not going to campaign ourselves about how we're setting taxes to the lowest possible, or how we're going to activate shops everyday; those are a given for any region.

What we will pride ourselves on is the ability to help those in need. Any questions, requests, or just people who want to group up and have fun, we'll try our best to accommodate. These regions are when people first discover many aspects of the game. The classes and the glyph system, instances, BAMs, many different types of quests, even for level 60's. We want to be there with you all the way.

We also have no wish to keep the gold earned from your efforts. We plan on hosting events in our province where many can enter and many could win. Get your gold back, or even get more =)

Name's Brizyrr, Guild Master of Silent Warriors. I'll be running for Vanarch in the Arun Continent, specifically Ostagarth. Why do I call it Ostagarth? Simply because Ostgarath, in my opinion, pales in comparison as a name when it could simply be called Ostagarth. It slides off the tongue so much easier and sweeter. I'm a castanic, so hey, I am the embodiment of lust per say.

Now, I'm not running for the vanarchy in Ostagarth based solely on the reason of economics. That's kinda why I'll have the tax rate set at 1%, rather than the default 10% at the moment. I'm a firm believer in keeping what you work for, so that tax rate is a representation of me saying, "I don't want to take anymore from your profit than the hours it took to make it." Because really, let's be honest, why should I profit from a moderate tax rate off your spoils? Makes no sense to me.

I personally believe every player is entitled in this game to have trainers in every city as well as functional specialty shops and brokers. I'm not sure what specialty shops will be available (in meaning of type), but I'm sure if I ask in Area chat which ones you all want that I'll get a good consensus. Let's hope there's specialty shops with refined alkahest that don't cost 21g a pop, shall we?

There'll be player-made events hosted by my guild in the Ostagarth region. Perhaps Hide n' Seek, Tag, a weekly caption contest on the forums-- maybe even deathmatches. I'll be asking in Area chat at peak hours what kind of contest should be held, along with what the reward should be, and that event will be held at the end of the week. If we get enough activity from you guys, maybe two contests a week will happen. I'm definitely excited about working with the community. The deathmatches will have some nice reward pots as well, but if you intend on entering, please have respect for others. PvP should be an enjoyable experience, and since you can bet on deathmatches, perhaps a fun gambling experience.

Also, unlike other Vanarchs-- I speak with an Irish accent.

Hello, Serpentis Isle!

Reave here. I am the guildmaster of The Older Gamers and I have tossed my hat into the ring to become Vanarch of Arcadia.

What this means for you is our promise to keep all the trainers, shops, brokers, etc open and available to you to make your gaming experience throughout Arcadia as painless as possible.

We chose the Arcadia province as our home for a simple reason - most new players will all start out there, and they deserve a helpful and friendly guild who is willing to put the time in to help guide new players in TERA, when they need it. This is something that falls directly into the values and aims of The Older Gamers and of The Serpentis Isle Coalition.

Can we live up to our promises? Yes, we can. TOG's international nature means we will have members working throughout the day to keep policy points needed to help the zone to the best of our ability.

I'm looking forward to seeing what a Vanarch has at their fingertips and what can be used to improve the gaming experiences of all in the area.

While I may not speak with an Irish accent, I can certainly put you in touch with quite a few Australian ones.

Hello Everyone,

Aqua here, Guild Master of Eternal. Candidate for Vanarchy :D

To start off, until now Eternal doesn't have any type of Alliance. It ruins the sense of the Political System, it just makes it a Guild Ally Contest. Stops being a Political System and it becomes an "Ally with me just because we will vote for each other and Rule for Sure".

On Eternal we don't think of only me Becoming a Vanarch, we think of the whole Guild Compromising together for the benefit of everyone. With this said, we will take the money we get from the Lowered Taxes and start off Public Games trough the whole province. As examples could be Deathmatches or Hide n' Seeks and some others that will be implemented :D.

Until now we have a nice group of "Addicts" wich will let us complete Vanarch's Quests as much as possible for having enough policy points to Open up Shops, Lower Taxes, Bring Skill Trainers and all the good things that can be implemented for the community.


I will not write a super message full of Empty Promises and since this is an Open Debate I am up for Any Questions you may have here or In-Game.

Why South Shara?
well, as me and my fellow culinarian traveling through the continent of South Shara, we were impressed by the beautiful scenary and richful resources that it got to offer. Right then, I want to make sure that everyone in the area will be able to enjoy it to the fullest extent.

Hello Everyone! I'm Aliandria, GM of ORLERAE and I'm proud to announce that we are running for Vanarch in the beautiful continent of Southern Shara!

We have chosen Southern Shara to make our political home because beside from boasting some of the most spectacular scenery in game, it is also the continent where the game really picks up in difficulty and we want to be there to help you along any way we can. We plan do this by making your leveling experience more convenient by having access to trainers and trade brokers, as well as offering assistance to players in our zone with things like BAM quests. We will also keep the tax rate low to keep your playing experience from burning a hole in your pocket!

Our primary goal is to enhance the playing experience of our server's growing community. We like to have fun, and we want YOU to have fun too! One way we plan to achieve this is by hosting events in our province! These events will give you the chance to win anything from in-game gold to bragging rights across the lands!

I want to keep this brief for you, it would be rude of me to encourage you to spend 15 minutes reading all the things that Legacy would do as Vanarch. So what I will do instead is present the bullet points with a single sentence description.

Goals:

-Cultivate community, and growing with it
The server is a community, our desire is to help that grow to the point you know each other rather than just seeing others as strangers.

-Create a Dialog
Community is non-existent without a dialog between a Vanarch and the people who elected the we are always open to discussing important topics or just shooting the breeze.

-Fun Promotional Events
During voting week we will be hold an event to promote the goals above, stay tuned for details.

-Help you get the best bang for your buck
We plan to utilize the money earned through taxes in our promotional events.

-Special offers in our zone, during Events
During events we will have special deals going on that you will love to take advantage.


All this is on top of the basics of keeping the shops open for community use. We lead with a utilitarian view for the greater good of the community as a first priority rather than our own.

No one knows how Vanarchy will turn out. Excitement, anticipation and nervousness is at an all time high. The implications of every guilds efforts regarding the future voting phase is still entirely unknown. What I can guarantee is that everyone involved in TSIC has impressed me greatly with dedication to upholding a standard of quality that will without doubt serve the personal interests of every gamer on this server.
