I am really getting tired of all the complaining too.

For me this is the best and most exciting game to come out in a great number of years. I just don't understand what people want in a game anymore. Maybe certain individuals need to realize that either they have outgrown the genre, or just generally at it's core, have too high of expectations for a game just being released.

In our case, there will be plenty of content at the lvl 60 cap and more to come. For me this game is a dream come true and a breath of fresh air in the genre. 4.5/5 stars in my book.

The problem is, this game is NOT "just being released." It has been out in Korea for quite some time and this is basically a localized version of it.

Tell me, what are some of the features you most enjoy? Several of you heap large amounts of praise on the game and only mention combat being "fun" What are some of the other game features you like so much? Guild interfaces and features, crafting, questing, enchanting or raiding, any opinion on those? While I also agree that the combat is fun and different, it seems to be the only aspect of the game, outside the gorgeous graphics, that seems appealing. How far will that take anyone? Once the new car smell wears off, what kind of game lies beneath?

As far as I know nobody promised things like new enchanting system. They promised action MMO and did it well. Not perfect, but well. Actually Tera is best MMO in P2P market, at last for me.

I write only a 2 paragraph response and already there are 2 cases of reading comprehension fail in regards to it. I am complaining about the crafting and enchanting system. I never said they were specifically on any list to change or improve. I made a generalization about some of the things I read from developers about their freedom to develop the game as they see fit, and my expectation is that they would address these antiquated, purely Korean features.

I agree with many of your points, enough so that I am probably going to cancel my pre-order at this point, since it is just not the game they are advertising it as. They have stated that the plan was to bring a westernized version of Tera to the US, but I just don't see it. They have also said they have the freedom to run their own development cycle, and not forced to follow the Korean version or patch cycle, but yet the core game is the same exact thing as K-Tera. Un-impressive crafting and enchanting systems, straight out of free to play Korean games. Really? This is what your offering? I believe that enchanting system was first seen in Lineage, some 14 years ago! You can't come up with a better alternative in 14 years?

I mean really, name one Korean game that was successful in the US market.... just one. This is absurd of En Masse to think that a game like this will even make it out of the gate in the US and quite honestly, it seems to come off as a money grab to sell boxes and will inevitably be a deserted wasteland like Aion and L2.

Lol, you should set you expectations lower, that way you will never be disappointed, truth be told, this game still has the potential to do great if by launch time they release the t4 patch. IF the game launches without it then, they are in deep trouble. I am holding out in my pre-order to wait and see if they release it by launch.........IF they can't even release T4 by launch, then what was the point of the almost year and a half wait?
Lower my expectations? Asking for an enchanting system that is a little newer than 14 years old is asking too much?

After 2 closed beta weekends, I can't help but feel that the only differences between this version and K-tera is that it's in English.

Not exactly what I was expecting after reading about all the purported "westernization" of the game. What exactly does Enmasse expect to accomplish with this game, another stunning failure from a Korean-esque game in a western market? They don't work in the U.S. and the proof is already out there with Lineage, L2 and Aion and who knows how many more I never even looked at.

Crafting: Straight out of any typical Korean game, and not even as good as say, Aion, since there is no crit crafting available. The items are sub-par, its unaccessable to new players due to the costs and it takes more runes than metal to make a metal chestplate or weapon...

Enchanting: Also straight out of any free-to-play or better Korean MMO. A mini-game really while trying to get your items pumped up to high enchanting. Get a couple pluses, fail a couple times, lose a couple pluses.. back and forth all in an effort to bleed items out of the economy. While having an uber weapon you can pump up to +12 is nice and all, you would think enchanting an item would be a little more complex than throwing a couple weapons in a box with some powder and calling it good.

Combat: I do like the combat system and it does not seem to be clunky at all. and being able to use WASD, in an otherwise Korean game, is awesome! No clicky clicky clicky here.

PvP: While there has not been an opportunity to test warzones, as they are not in, I did play all weekend on the PvP server. Plenty of ganking and griefing, as can be expected, but if you don;t like it, roll on a PvE server. It does seem far too easy to get flagged as a healer, which can be taken advantage of and there were a few instances where when attacking someone it just did not hit for anything (and no, it was not a tank class so they werent blocking) Maybe it was a lvl difference, but i was 24ish at the time and should not have been unable to hit a 27.

Grouping: While it's always fun to group and there is a small group XP bonus, there seems to be a HUGE XP penalty when grouping with people as little as 2 levels difference. Not exactly conducive to a group friendly environment.

Most of these are pet peeves of mine. I don't really care if anyone agrees with me or not. And if your answer to this is "theres nothing wrong with the game, don't change anything" then go [filtered] play K-tera and STFU, the game you want already exists.
Is it not rather silly to sit and wait on a Korean game that you won't like?
Not really, considering the entire premise was that En Masse was going to bring us a western version of it. They have already stated that they have the freedom to do their own thing and are not forced to put out the same content as the Korean or Japan versions (I looked for the link but didnt want to spend too much time and get logged out and have to retype this all. Cant find it). It is SUPPOSED to be westernized by design.

I agree with the root of the OP's post, which is it needs more westernization. For all those who love all the Korean aspects of it (KrisKris20, Leiloni and others), go play Ktera. This is US Tera. Korean games, historically speaking, have done terrible in the West. Facts are facts. I want a game with features that I like, not features that I loathe.

Again though, you're confusing gameplay features with art style. Most of the things the OP mentioned are the intended art and style for the game, no matter where it's released. They ARE the game. People who want the game to be not-like-that are the ones who should probably seek other gaming options if it bothers them, as it's not likely to change in that way.

No, I am not. I said the "root" of her post, which was the entire korean "feeling" of the game.

I agree with the root of the OP's post, which is it needs more westernization.
And those features are what? In every customization option there are components to the character that provide the "Western" look or appeal that you would see in rift or SWTOR. Face presets, makeup presets even to the feature adjustment screen with the sliders for jaw, nose, eyes, and mouth. All of them allow for the Weastern look or appeal of the game to players.

So really beyond refusing to use the system offered and demanding to have it burger king style in an MMO what lack of options does the cahracter creation or do the characters have that don't meet your desired appeal?

The op stated that he didn't like the ninja run in the game of the class/race combinations s/he tried. But that same ninja run style is in SWTOR for the Consular and Sith Inquisitor class. You could even add the Marauder/Sentinel run style. The animation for the characters when the weapons aren't drawn are actually overly feminine and almost comical since they basically sashey from place to place. But if that's the issue that you and the OP/others have then you mustn't like that armor looks or the boob physics.
Personally I don't have a problem with the animations. The OP also pointed out pets and vocal grunts. I would add crafting and enchanting system to that list. Too many features currently feel straight out of Ktera, which is great if you like Korean games. Go play that one, it already exists. I want a westernized version of it, with crafting that is viable at all levels and pets that don't look like pokemons.

I don't know about some of the posters gaming history, but I have been playing online games since MUD's and I have seen lots and lots of korean games come our way, or I have played the korean versions. I dislike them, I want a more western feeling game.

Paverunes should Never drop from gathering nodes, that makes no sense what so ever. Though they should be able to drop from extraction, since ya know, that is breaking down other gear to get the stuff its made out of. So this way, you extract weapons, ya get shara runes, break down armor ya get arun runes and so on.

Though titan runes would be a different story, maybe a more rare drop off extraction? or only from higher grade items within that teir? it would all have to be balanced with the farming of mobs to get them so. Now with the green higher grade runes should be left alone, cause you can either find them on mobs ( rare ) or craft them from lower runes. I think it was 5 shara+ something else for 1 geit or something like that.

I think this is an effective solution. I also do not think that runes should be given through nodes but getting them back from extraction, since they ARE a component of the item, is certainly viable. Blues or better for Titan runes would be a good solution as well.
