I know that gw2 is still in beta, with no definitive release date in sight. So please bear in mind, that the following is only based off FIRST IMPRESSIONS, and only consists of the 2 hours I got to play today.
#1. The game is extremely choppy. I am running on an overclocked 3.3-4.0 i5-2500k processor, with a 3gb GTX 580 and I am getting around 20-30 fps on high settings.
#2. The game is extremely difficult, for all the WRONG reasons.
* Mobs respawn almost instantly in caves narrow areas. So players (specifically cloth based) get destroyed just because of random spawns.
* Events reset, which cause you to DC. And when you log back in, you are suddenly in the middle of 50 enemies, who have already killed you due to the lack of an invincibility grace period.
* Elite mobs (not bosses) have countless thousands of HP, while doing 250-500 dmg a hit to players. (who have roughly 300-1500 life by lv 7). The chances of you taking one down, even in a small group without countless revives is slim to none.
*Mobs always outlevel you, so when you yank one near you, chances are 1-3 more will also chain it due to their aggro bubble.
#3. The event system is a fresh change, BUT doesn't provide the dynamic changes promised by devs. I went along with 20 other players and cleared an orchard from spiders, only to have the event reset 3 minutes later. I thought events would chain, and we would go into the nearby mine to fight the spider queen. But I was wrong in this case, and every case that followed.
Most "Dynamic events" took place like this.
-Clear out mobs while collecting xxxx and bring it to Npc.
~Event cleared, Begin harvesting materials while enemies are gone and bring them to xxx Npc.
-Event cleared, A new enemy is approaching from the lake, go repair traps along the banks.
~Always within the same area, never spreading outwards.
That to me, is not a Dynamic event, its just a fancy way of having a chained quest, which loops over and over after a certain point.
And there is no point where the quest "can" fail, because there are 500 people all around you doing the same thing.
#4. If you create a character on a server that fills up, you can't access your character until Players leave. But it doesn't give you a que, no, instead it completely logs you out back to account screen, forcing you to LOG IN all over again.
#5 And of course, the bug which is effecting many people. Where a good 25% of players are getting DC'd in the middle of an event, and then receiving a PERMANENT log in error, which closes down the entire game and asks you to send a report.
This error seems to happen when you lose connection during an event, try to log back in. And the game doesn't recognize the area you were in (due to the event changing the quest area) and prevents players from E V E R logging back into that particular character.
Again I understand its beta, but my god. I could write my thesis on the game's problems so far.
