So I just read through the review and it seems like the only complaints he has are:
1. Only one starting area
---This becomes quite good later on in the games life for newer players because it means you are never the only person in the starting zone. Gives the game a better feel when you see a couple more players running around rather than be by yourself for the first 11 levels. It also takes 2 hours, 3 at most, so it really isn't that bad if you're rolling an alt either.
2. Quests are dull
---What mmo has OMG SO AMAZING questing other than TOR? I look back at other mmos that I have played and every single one has the exact same questing as Tera. Non-innovation in questing does not mean you take off 30%+ of the score. Maybe 10%, but yeesh.
3. The mobs are too easy
---The ony thing that gives me an idea on what level the reviewer got to was when he died at level 19 to a BAM, and that he did BoL at level 21. To this I have to say - do people really expect them to be thrown off a cliff regarding the difficulty level when they start at level 1? Sure every mob in the game could be the equivalent of Kelsaik, but people would quit after 30 minutes.
4. Uninteresting story
---I have to disagree, personally. The story is plenty interesting for an MMO. Of course it's not going to be as interesting to people as WoW or TOR, where they spent their childhood playing the games or watching the movies and the games have that previous experience and wonder to draw from and build the story off of.
5. Lack of launch content.
---While on launch there were only 2 realistic dungeons, we now have Nexus (however much people love to bash it), Kelsaik HM (people always seem to forget this), BT and FoK HM for gear, and ToT for glyphs. Four dungeons and an outdoor "raid," with more coming by the end of the summer.
While they are legitimate points, none of those scream to me "D GRADE"
Oh I forgot "some of the races are still creept though"
Really? They're only creepy because you look at them creepily. But I won't bother getting into this, it would just derail the thread.
And for the last part of this long post, I can't really get a base for what this reviewer likes in his games since he seems to have only done two other reviews for PCGamer, one that doesn't have a score and the other being a 65. Something to keep in mind, since certain reveiwers will always score higher whether they mean to or not. the line "the first 15 hours or so are insufferable" should show some of that, at least.
