Oh, nice to see that some of the "White Knights" of EME are still roaming this forum, I thought you guys where extinct and funnier the fact that as soon as Knox post they stand all proud and mighty.

Learn what the term means before you use it. It makes it exceptionally hard to respond in a meaningful matter when you are calling me something that has utterly nothing to do with what I typed or the topic at hand.

Really? Would you like to explain it to me then? Or you know what? Forget that said anything to you and leave it like that so that everyone stays happy.

Let's not forget who on En Masse worked on Aion.

When developers don't try to communicate with their most outspoken player base (hell, we are on the official forums) - that says a lot about where you stand with support.

When that section of the player base is more or less just whining because they didn;t get what they want why would any sane developer bother communicating with them?

I am not saying all the Elin (anti-censorship) folk did but A LOT did.

Yes, they have being telling the player base here and there the changes where final in a few posts that where buried thanks to all the thread locking and new page layout and I honsetly didn't cared about them but it was nice to see that some people clinged to the idea that EME would be nice enough to listen to them, now it's clear for EVERYONE, that they won't, until new potential players come and ask about the edits wich will repeat the cycle again but I'm sure you will be there to tell them wrong.

I'm sorry for not seeing things your way and not having a fanboy blinfold but I'm sure your opinions are worth a lot more than concerns of many players that wanted to be heard.

The elin art you are seeing in beta is final for the launch of TERA. We made the changes based on what we felt was best for this market. Obviously not everyone agrees, but with art it is always a matter of opinion.

I am sorry that we cannot please everyone but this decision is final and we won't be commenting on it anymore officially.

There... was it really hard to talk to us?

It's cool to see that EME thinks that the horrible edits on the Elin are a form of art.... now I know where you guys stand in all of this and find it amusing really, basically you just said that this ticket where just balant lies:

Doesn't matter how much support can actually do, one of my biggest concerns was communication, not the Elin armor issue, and the support team and how they handle problems is part of that communication.

There is more to this back and fourth but none of it concerning this particular thread, so I'll just post the response they gave me to the Elin issue in particular:

Neurosys

I did look up the situation you were referring to and can inform you that the issue regarding that back and forth is being looked at and taken very seriously with us. We have no desire to disenfranchise or marginalize any part of our audience. As I said, large or small, everyone is important no matter their opinions, and trust us, we know our Elin players are among our most passionate and that means something to us! It can prove to be a very difficult situation to discuss as we understand we are unable to satisfy everyone easily, but we also know it is important to know how the community feels. We look at the many proposed ideas that the community offers and must weigh them internally to find what the best decision for everyone involved. It is a topic that we must approach very delicately as to not cause anymore dissent or ire than necessary (or already there). I can certainly pass your feedback up though, so know your ideas are not ignored in any fashion.

Discussing these issues on the forum, in a civil manner, does no harm and still let's us know this is something certain players cares about. We see this.

In case you are wondering how I phrased that particular question....

Thanks for at least telling us the stand on EME on all this, now I know why Aion failed and I hope that this game last more than Aion with the current marketing, at least someone was honest in this company, glad I won't be staying here to see more of this actitude against players. Thanks again and good luck with Tera.
I've read that making those options available will make some clipping issues, like letting the castanics choose the horns and hair style but I'm sure they won't try to change it and probalby never will.

2. I'm sure that there was discussion about ALL of the races when it came to whether or not any single race should be removed from the game even, with I'm guessing castanics being the highest on the list for "What are people going to think of this?" and with Elin and Popori probably being thought of as well. In the end, they opted to keep all the races, but change the one thing they couldn't be certain of how the expanded MMO playerbase in the NA would react.

I get what you mean but THAT right there might be one of the biggest problems with EME/BH, they are trying to get a heavy eastern game become a mainstream game on western culture, wich I don't blame them because every MMO company would like to have the biggest player base they can get.

But... the thing is, that Tera will never be that big in America, sure, sounds harsh and it's my opinion but looking at how the people react outside the official forums it's quite clear that the game will become a somewhat niche game in the long run, wich EME seems to think that the more they appeal to the avarage and potential player base instead of the core fanbase will bring them more subs, wich in the end most of those avarege players will leave for games like D3 or any other game that's "popular" at that momment.

Sure, I have amazing eyes that "can see into the future" but that's how I think things are turning out right now and I wouldn't be surprised if the game becomes F2P after 2 years, I honestly hope I'm wrong with this and my thoughts turn out to be crazy delussions.

This here is why i hate arguing with uneducated people.

EME/BHS have already stated that the the decision to change the things they changed was a business decision, and part of the westernization/localization of the game. The developers have answered the "Why?", as well as stated that the changes are none negotiable. Why people never bothered to get them self's caught up is out of my understanding.

Yes, I know that, I'm not talking about the reason behind the changes and I honestly don't care if they don't revert them or whatever, what is really bothering me is that people ask for a better option on the cosmetic appearance of said "changes" and no actual response is given and I don't know if anyone remembers but they did said that they where going to make an official thread just for feedback once the changes where done and that the community will be able to help improve said changes, wich I haven't seen and probably won't, since we are close to launch date and those words are buried under the huge pile of threads on the old forums.

I've been following this game long enough to create my own doubts on some inconsistency on the comunication with the players and the lack of it in some cases. It's like saying "Hey guys! We are doing the changes for X reason and we won't accept any feedback and once we do, the changes are final and no negotiable so ***** yourselfs, stop complainig and buy the game" Sometimes actions have more meaning than words.

This is what scares me the most, and what is at the moment most prompting me to ask for a refund. The actual issue of the Elin Armor is a client side fix, but what I find more concerning then anything is what appears to be a great disrespect for your fanbase when you won't answer their questions or give them any sort of answers what so ever. It's just not something good game devs or publishers do, a good game dev will respond, in some fashion, to their player base. But twiddling your thumbs and just wanting the problem to "go away" is not something a good game dev should do, ever.

They're kind of just coming off as children in denial to me at this point, and if they don't say SOMETHING about it before release, I'm just going to cancel my pre-order, because who knows how many various other issues they'll choose to ignore.

Yup! That's exactly what's making me doubt about buying the game in the first place, not because of some censored race but because of how they are adressing the issue, sure, they might be a new company and all but the way they handled the whole problem is what makes me doubt them.

Some people might think it's silly and in theory, it actually is but if I'm going to be paying $15 a month, I want te be sure that at least the company I will be paying is willing to listen to the concerns and "feedbacks" of the costumers, as I said before, I don't expect them to give to any demand the player base ask but at least show them that you do care and keep communication going.

It's true that if you want your voice to be heard, the best option will be not to buy the game but they know that people will actually buy the game no matter what if they are interested, although I know quite a few people that won't buy Tera thanks to the bad communication with this problem.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm still interested in Tera but if GW2 or D3 come out around Tera's launch, I'll be going for those games instead just for the simple reasons that those are "F2P"

But here's the thing... I want En Masse to succeed. I want Tera to succeed. And I think they can.

But if that's going to happen, En Masse has to realize that they need to really put some effort in. If the "Americanized" version of the game continues to be modified in such an amateurish manner I'm afraid people wont stick around or wont sign on at all. The voice acting was bad enough, these armors are a joke. I can't fathom how En Masse thought those would be acceptable, especially as a replacement for something most people didn't want taken away in the first place.

I mean... if you tell me I can't have silver, but you give me gold instead - I'm not going to be all that upset. But if you tell me I can't have silver and you hand me a steaming pile of... bronze... I'm not going to be happy.

I really do fear for the quality of NA Tera.

Came a bit late but this post is exactly what most people want and expect from EME regarding the changes, it dosen't matter if you love the Elins or you don't even care about them, you would expect ANY modification to be done with the "quality standars" of the game.

I'm sure that some poeple might think that EME isn't obligated to tell or do anything on this matter... yet... but the momment you start to pay $15 dollars a month, it's when things start to change in my opinion. I'm not saying they should bow to us and give to any demands we want but at least they should be able to show us that they DO care and listen to the community regarding THIS issue by taking a different approach to things on this matter.

I guess depending on how you look at it, we have gotten an answer. Thread locks, refusal to answer basic questions on it. Even the email posts are just a generic response. You could say they have said no. But the fact that they havnt locked this thread gives me a lil hope that they are at least reading it and maybe taking it into consideration.

From a neutral point of view (I don't care if they remove the Elins to be honest) they just leave one or two threads on this topic to ease the poeple and let them think they will probably "look into it" in the future while it's almost clear that they don't have any intention to make a better or detailed work on the poor edits that the "BH art team" did.

In some cases, I kinda understand why EME CR would be so feed up with all of this to the point of not wanting to respond anymore, since theres a lot of hate, name-calling, trolls, etc... on this sub-forum since day one but I think they could have prevented all of this if they the adressed the problem right from the start by being more "open" to the community on the reasons behind this poorly done changes.
God, I can't believe that this is still going, even to the degree that some people actually made rage comics to "prove their point" this discussion is going nowhere, EME already made it clear that they won't listen to any feedback, complains or suggestions that players give on this matter, sad but true, this is the company you are going to give your money. °3°

I've read some really good arguments about why this "censorship" is bad but I still have to find a good argument of why the lazy job they did is ok and why everyone should be happy with it, well... aside for one or two people that make some good points.

The main and most saddest thing of all this argument, is that everything that's posted in here it's most likely falling on deaf ears.

Argh! Why don't they release GW2 already so I can foget this game ever existed, Trololololo! :O

25 years from now folks might look at this Tera situation, scratch their heads and say "That was the problem?"

Actually, you don't have to travel in the future to see that some people are already doing that, when I saw the Elins for the first time, I was like, "Meh, I might roll one as an alt" but didn't care about them much, once the news about the "new clothes" where released, the whole deal was taken out of proportion turning the official forums into total mess (at least in the race section) it felt and still does like I'm reading youtube comments every time I drop in here.

I kinda understand why EME did this but I think that they could have done nothing and things wouldn't change a bit, haters gonna hate I guess?

As for the game failing on NA, we will never know until the game launches, it might drop dead in a month (wich I highly doubt it) or it could turn out to be a really popular MMO for the next few years but whatever happens, if the game fails, it's not going to be because of the censorship on the Elins, it's going to be because of bad managment on EME side.
