Bladesofwill's Post History

So, I haven't played since a little while after the release of the nexus, and the f2p change (along with some other RL stuff being resolved) has made playing again an option for me. I'm looking to catch up to speed on how stuff works, what gear to look for, ect.

My current gear: ilvl 147, +9 t12 swords (w/ dual attackspeed and damage to bosses), +7 t12 boots/gloves, +8 t12 chest. Jewelry is mainly rep stuff, along with the ToT attack speed necklace. Ive got about 2.5k gold from before I stopped playing, and I remember some of the good farming spots.

My basic questions are: What armor/weapons should I go for? t13 seems pretty cheap, but what I'm using now is probably going to be better until the t13 is +4/5, so I'm thinking it might not be worth the investment, especially when I see some t14 gear for 1-1.3k.

With the parry mechanic added to warriors, how do they fit into the current meta? Are warriors still considered good dps, and how are they treated as tanks? I did some tanking for my guild in fane/bt (at the time my guild wasn't geared for hard modes, so I didn't do much there), but outside of that few people wanted a warrior tanking.

Partly leading into the next question, does keeping boss aggro become any harder than I use to have to deal with in the new dungeons. I never had to use threat crystals/glyphs before to keep aggro.

What are the best crystal setups atm? Mainly concerned about pve since I've got catching up to do gearwise. Zyrks especially I am unfamiliar with, though I assume attack speed, power, and crit are among the top for dps, and threatening/grounding for tanks. I assume 4x anarchic or 3x anarchic and one warding are the best blues for instances (though, cant remember if warding was popular, but it did give a large shield when you needed it, so I liked it). As for reds, I used 4x mutinous when tanking (are threat ones needed now?), and savage/acrimonious/forceful/glistening for dps (never run low on mana with glistening, though maybe less needed now with no stance mana drain, I dunno).

Anything special I should know about that I wouldn't find by glancing over patch notes?
Sounds like the issue is people, not the number of guilds themselves. Limiting the number of guilds seems to be a poor choice, as when many people start new mmos, they like to create a guild along with friends they bring with them.

A much better option would be for the players who ARE active to band together in a few guilds and recruit those who are seeking an active guild into there fold.

Believe it or not, there are people who are fine being in a guild alone by themselves, or with a few friends who may or may not be very active.
Ok so, I have two stories.

First, there was this one time, the lancer didnt queue. So he left all of the rest of us waiting. Forever. Wuatajerk. And this resulted in my guild making me warrior tank fane/bt. qq

Second, there was this one lancer this one time who couldnt keep aggro. And apparently, he keeps doing server/name/race changes, because every time I see him, he looks like a different person. BUT I KNOW. Its the same tanking style that leads the boss all over the place in a wild pattern, and the failure to keep aggro even over small crits. IT MUST BE THE SAME GUY. WHY DOES HE KEEP JOINING MY GROUP?
Am I the only one who, when reading this thread's title, though of all the QQ over warrior tanks turning bosses by sidestepping boss attacks?

Anyway, I havent leveled my lancer very high, but here is my 2cp. Step back adds something to the lancer skill set that they dont have already. Assuming that the step back is the same as other stepbacks in that it doesnt provide invincibility for a time period, you are likely better off with a step back than a side step skill. Lancers have at least one skill (shield barrage) with a mobility component, that if used effectively, should be enough to act as a side step (very similar to a warrior's rising fury). But, because of their (*cough* overpowered for pve *cough*) block skill, lancers rarely need to avoid attacks in this way (because, if you have the foresight to avoid an attack, it should be faster to block than to move out of it). So the back step gives the lancer something new in allowing them to reposition and get some distance away from the boss without using another skill (like a charge) that is intended for closing gaps rather than opening them and taking a risk because of it (not able to block because you have to turn camera, may collide with the boss and do damage instead of moving).
Until i see some numbers about the uptime and cost of disabling pvp, all I hear is Q [filtered] Q. You might not be on my server, but what guild has disabled pvp in what area? Lumbertown? If you dont like it, then just dont vote for the guilds that do it. I think that, cost duration and cooldown pending, it is an ok system, especially for lower level areas suffering from bored higher levels oneshotting people.
I mead a thread about this earlier, but it was pretty much ignored :x

Its really annoying sometimes, and I hope it gets fixed (and is a bug, not intentional).
I hate posts like this. Seriously. I usually dont respond like this, but stop being a whiny [filtered].

The endgame in this game is so [filtered]. Community is trash. Seriously, even worse than games like LoL.

This community is not that bad. I have seen MUCH worse. But every online community has people like you who show up and complain about how this one is so much worse than every other one.

Archers and berserkers excluded from all endgame groups, people bring along archers/zerkers for the trash/trash bosses then kick at the end boss, wasting ~1 hour of their time. Not just me. I've seen multiple people being treated like this.

Honestly, I have seen this happen ONCE. It happened to me, and Im not even an archer or a zerker. I have never seen an archer or zerker kicked because of their class (although im sure it happens). If you want to avoid it, dont group with 4 person queues, or dont queue at all. Group with people you know.

I've never seen a game where one class (lancer) can basically ruin the game for so many other people.

Again, your being a whiny [filtered]. No class ruins the game for other players, unless if its grossly overpowered. Players are the cause of the problem (partly due to the lack of players willing to play lancers, the lack of players willing to tank on warriors, and the lack of players willing to accept warrior tanks).

Basically all priests, berserkers, and archers are pointless classes at endgame.

Only if your an elitist pve-hero who has a panic attack if you take 5 minutes longer than normal to complete a dungeon. All classes are sufficiently powerful enough for all current endgame content that I am aware of. Do some classes have an advantage? Likely, but we have no solid evidence of how large of one it is.

Endgame is running the same 2 dungeons over and over again, then running the hard modes (which are basically rehashes of the exact same instance) over and over one more time.

Because for whatever reason EME didnt release Nexus and the training dungeon. Battlegrounds are being reworked currently. You also completely ignore the vanarch system, which is one of the main features of tera, although we havent seen yet how it will effect endgame yet.

IGN's review came out the latest, and they gave it a 6.5 Guess why? The game is decent 1-59, and then both endgame and community becomes horrible, because the game just becomes a pointless grind. Once you play this game long enough, the flaws become exposed.

Others have already covered why IGN is a bad source.

I initially bought a 6-month renewal for this game. I did this because I've usually enjoyed most mmo's I've played (DAOC, lineage, LoTRO, WoW, SW:TOR, and GW1) but this is now the first MMO that I've decided to just quit after just the 1 month trial period.

Grats to you if you picked slayer, mystic, lancer, or sorcerer. The game is probably (mildy) enjoyable, and you guys can continue grinding your dungeons 24/7 and pretend that this game's combat is revolutionary enough to put up with everything else that's wrong with this game.

Im sorry that you let an online community effect your playing experience to a significant degree. Unfortunately, you will find this in most online communities. I suggest you look for games like Hello Kitty Online or Internet Hearts, where you will not have to worry about this as much.

I become more upset each time I go to my bank and see the cosmetics bound to my black Aman, for when they are being worn, you can not see them.

Ask support for help. They will probably help you, even though the items warn you when you equip them.
They should also be available from HM fane/bt if you masterwork the drops with the proper scrolls.
Questing is the fastest leveling. Most of the time, you will complete quests and head on to the next quest hub for more quests. If you have a group and are interested in money as much as in xp, you could farm BAM repeatable quests, which has the added advantages of more mob xp and better drops. As you get into higher levels, the mob xp alone isnt enough for you to level off of, and you will rely more and more on quest xp.

1) Questing is faster, 100%. Because of the way xp (and well, everything) scales, if you grinded mobs only, you would want to change areas fairly often. Quests will direct you to new areas anyway, so constantly moving up through quests is faster than grinding one spot.
2) BAM farming will give the most cash. Doing this solo however can be fairly slow. Also note that gold drops (and quest rewards) increase dramatically as you increase in levels. So farming lvl 30 bams from 28-32 is not going to mean much at lvl 60.
3) Following the quest line from each quest hub to the next.
4) Storyline and achievements for the most part. Some quests offer very good gear (in that it is more than sufficient to level with and much cheaper than investing in other gear, as you upgrade in a few levels). So, skipping too many yellow quests will make it take longer for you to get to endgame.
5) You can skip redquests, however you cannot continue in the sequence of red quests without completing the prerequisites (each chain of red quests is seperate - i.e. you dont have to complete the bastion storyline to complete the manor storyline). Red quests will also often offer the best of all quests in gold/xp/items, and usually follow the sequence of yellow quests (you dont have to go out of your way to hit red quests if you are following the sequential yellow quests).
