Because gold and other prizes would be easier to come up with and distribute...
While at the same time you are securing reputation for your guild which may or may not lead to people voting for you for vanarch...
You can have vanarch be a prize just leave it to be a bonus prize or something...like livestream the tournament.. or hold it in a location where other guild members who are not participating can watch...
This allows people to see your guilds worth and make their judgement based on how you do in the tournament...
