Castellan's Post History

As one of the people who were contacted by the GM, I'd have to say I find it a little extreme to ban someone for using the only global chat channel. Imho, En Masse should have thought about this in the beginning. I mean,..who plays mmos to talk to or play with other people. I mean honestly who could have thought such a thing was possible right?

I don't know a single person in my rather large circle of friends that plays MMORPGs to socialize with strangers or chat with people outside of their static group or guild. In my personal experience socializing in an MMO is akin to trying to navigate a dense minefield i.e. You are more likely to do yourself harm than find a safe route. In addition I have found Area chat in TERA to be deplorable. For the first time in well over a decade of playing MMORPGs (including WoW) I have had to disable public chat channels. The sheer amount of vulgar stupidity and off topic banter drove me to do something I had never found reason to do before in even the most populated of games.

They expect max level to be something easily attainable. Being max level is no longer an achievement itself like it was before WoW. It's the whole concept of "The game starts after lvl x"

That didn't exist before WoW. At least nowhere near as strongly.

This is so very true in my experience. When I played EQ people enjoyed the leveling process and most people I knew played for years and never came close to hitting the level cap. Take a game like EVE Online where it is literally impossible to max out all of your skills (last time I checked it would take a player just a tad over 20 years to cap every skill, IF CCP didn't add any more). I cannot imagine most people that play MMORPGs surviving a game like EVE Online. That is a game that starts almost immediately. I have never once met someone that said EVE doesn't start until you can pilot and a Titan.

I would do nearly anything for someone to create a fantasy game that used EVE mechanics.

Just to spite people like the OP I would remove PvP altogether.

My honest answer though would be to slow leveling significantly. It is far too quick and easy to finish leveling.

Why would you remove it as just relegate it to specific servers?

I totally get that some people do not like pvp or don't want to put up with it. I find the ballet vile but I am not promoting its elimination from society.

Just if you make a pvp server MAKE A PVP SERVER. No safe zones, rewards for pvp, ect, etc.

Thanks for wanting to spite me bro I still love you!

Since you asked I'll give you the simple answer. PvP always brings about unwanted changes to PvE. Balance issues cannot be avoided when it comes to MMO mechanics. I want a game to be free of not only those issues but also the players that are attracted to that style of gaming. The very thing you are requesting (rewards for PvP) circumvents the entire core design as envisioned by the developers at BHS.

If I had my way, level 20 - 60 would be:

1. Doing all the story quests.
2. Running all the dungeons several times.
3. Doing very very few zone quests, and doing a few some BAM quests.

This is a wonderful example of why MMORPG Developers can not make anyone happy. There are far too many extremes when it comes to playstyles.

In my perfect world the leveling experience from 1-60 would REQUIRE:

1. Completing all of the story quests.
2. Completing all of the side quests PLUS grinding 25%-50% of each level.

That way the player is exposed to the entire storyline and is active in the game world for significant periods of time.

I am highly disappointed that, as I level, I cannot complete every quest at the suggested level. By the time I am done with one area I have already outleveled the next area I am directed. I also am locked out of completing all of the repeatable kill achievements because I wanted to participate in following the story from beginning to end.
Shift and arrow keys will move your viewpoint.
My understanding was that content would be delivered to us six months to a year behind KTera. The Nexus Rifts were a rather recent update in Korea so I would imagine that we won't see them for a few months at least.
When you are trying to enchant your weapon you will want a vast supply of cheap and readily available high quality drops to throw into the fire. Without the ability for players to sell unwanted items to other players the economy becomes stagnant.
According to the blog link here:

An MMO launch is a very hectic time—the perfect storm of new players, servers, account management systems, and more means that even the oversized support team we've built may have challenges keeping up with demand. Our support staff wants nothing more than to ensure the best overall experience to all our players. Consequently, we will not be handling roleplaying "name review" requests for the first 60 days after launch. Once the launch frenzy has died down, we will increase our support for this aspect of the roleplaying server.

So there will be no name reviews for the first two months.
As an EQ veteran I always abhorred the use of DPS as a noun to describe a Damage Dealer. The roles were always Tank, Controller, Damage Dealer, and Healer. WoW pushed the concept of Controller out of the picture. It's as bad as when people use the term PST in ways that indicate they don't understand it means Please Send Tell e.g. Please PST me for invite. Apparently some people have taken PST to be onomatopoeia (pssst) instead of an acronym.
