Ceowulf's Post History

You may think tanking is boring, it's probably not for you if you wanna see BIGWTFPWN numbers.

Me, along with alot of others happen to think lancer is the funniest class in the game, and tbh we have a really good tool set, pretty well rounded imo.

I'm not sure what humour has to do with tanking? Why would it be funny? You've lost me here.

I find tanking itself to be very enjoyable, I've always been a tank. I'm not in it for the numbers, but every other tank I've played has a much bigger toolset. To be honest, block, counter, SB>SA and debilitate is not a tremendously huge toolset.

Edit:
Thank you Blerg! The new attack looks great! So does the warrior, what an interesting dynamic! I think I'll keep levelling the warrior and lancer in tandem :)

And yes we have debilitate and onslaught. But they both have a much lower base attack value than the quickly recharging SB and SA. So I can't see the point of using them often. Especially with onslaught constantly putting me miles away from the target near the end. It's like the server is running me from the target while I'm hitting it on the screen and near the end I end up 15m away from the target. A real P.I.A to be honest.
So is it just me, or does the lancer really have a pretty pathetically small arsenal of tools to use? Solo questing in between instances in particular is painful. The same two skills again, and again, and again, and again.

I've looked through the skill list, and there are no new attacks. It's just the same two basically throughout the entire life of the lancer (SB and SA). Yes obviously while we are tanking we block, counter and so on. But man, this class is really a bit dull isn't it? I'm only 40 at the moment, does it get better?
Well I can only speak from my experience as a level 35 Lancer. But already I'm finding that questing is slow... to the point of tedium. Especially when you are faced with mobs that are highly mobile and dance around you.

At level 35 you can tank the Cathedral... something? CR? Anyway after tanking BoK and SM a zillion times until level 33, all of a sudden there's nothing to tank. The instance matcher doesn't work for you anymore. You have to quest out the next two levels. I was ever so happy when I could finally queue up for an instance again.

Well, the instance was ok, though no one in the group would talk, it was like I was talking to myself. They were all level 38-40 and either didn't understand english or were just slightly stupid. I would ask if mobs where chain linked, no one would respond. I'd ask if the boss did anything special I should know about, no one would respond.

That seems pretty normal, and when you rely on groups to level at a semi decent rate it can get pretty disheartening.

But besides that, back to tanking in general. Tanking can be HARD. That last boss in CR... killed me... 3 or 4 times? One of his attacks would go right through my mana (while blocking) like it wasn't there and then 1 shot me. First time I've ever died in an instance but it was NOT fun. And still no one talks. We never wiped, I was the only one that died each time. It just sucked. Didn't have fun at all.

I don't really feel like I can go back to that instance until I hit level 38. That's 3 more levels away of... painfully slow questing. I'm not looking forward to it and am playing my sorcerer now until I can get some rest xp to make it go a bit faster :/

I've tanked in every other MMO, and this is by far the hardest (because it's so reactive and I play from Western Australia - I have a higher ping than everyone and that delay it seems is costing me).
lol I've been gearing my Berserker the same way Pondering.

I understand the limitation of the Zerker class, they really are slow (especially at low level) and it must be frustrating for them some times. Especially on highly mobile fights (probably nearly as frustrating as highly mobile fights are for tanks! :)).
Ah, silly me sorry I went to the website and had a look. Great work!
Good work, but what determines the Outgoing and Incoming Healing Modifiers?
I'll be working on getting my Lancer to 50 asap (32 at the moment). I'm instance grinding so it shouldn't take too long. Had to try out a fair few classes to ~20 before I found the one I wanted to stick with so I'm a bit behind.

Long time PVP'er and looking for another hardcore guild.
Yeah I'm with you on that Critique. I've never booted a Berserker that I've pugged with, but if I was going to join a premade I'd politely decline and move on. No harm done.

I do hope they make warriors good tanks, no problems, I'll be levelling one of those as a tank as well eventually :)

I have never booted a Berserker from a party as a Lancer. Though the few that I've had I've wanted too for the same reason I want to boot other retarded DPS. Meleeing from the front of the boss, or right behind me blocking me in. Knocking back the mobs constantly and forcing me to try to regroup them.

After only running about 20 instances (not many I admit) I can safely conclude that most DPS in this game are retarded.

See what a generalisation that is? :p Not all Lancers are douche bags, some may be sure but not everyone.
