Do you honestly not get how open world pvp works. Unless people have reason to be outside in the field you're not going to see open world pvp. I come from Lineage 2 which is probably the only mmo that still has open world 7v7+ every damn day. The only reason this works is because players have to farm 8 hours a day every day in the top xp spots to stay competitive because the grind is so harsh. This games current state is proof that unless people have an incentive / requirement to pvp for something to advance, it will not happen that much. It's too late to change the grind for xp, best gear comes from instances/nexus and not world bosses.

Nexus is currently the only reason for players to gather in large groups and even with gvg enabled everyone absolutely hates it because this engine is not designed for anything bigger than say 15v15 in a small/medium sized area and it becomes unplayable. There's pvp afterwards sure but it's just random aoes and swings at red markers cos player models haven't loaded. So even if you took the route of making world bosses drop the absolute best gear and giving them fixed+random respawns so players had to lock down the area, nobody would find it enjoyable. It would be just like nexus currently. Neccessary but not fun.

I love open world pvp, don't get me wrong. But this game is not setup for it and you can't force it in a game where it has no place. Very few people use deathmatches outside of in-guild-tournaments. You could put the arena in tomorrow but I bet all it would do is take over Kanstria gate as the sometimes empty sometimes 4 guys are there official duel spot. Besides, where players can bet? Lol Do you think anyone gives a crap about a few K gold. Such a useless idea. I would love for you to prove me wrong but it's so easy and dumb to say "make open world pvp happens, bg sucks booo" and then offer absolutely no suggestions as to how to make 5v5/10v10 a common thing.

Pvp rankings are abuseable. Point based systems like ap on aion are abuseable. Gvg rewards are abuseable. The only way to make a game have solid open world pvp is world bosses (which we already said won't work on this engine / poorly optimised in general game) and xp grind. Bg will be fine and the whole attitude of OPEN WORLD PVP IS THE BEST ALL INSTANCED PVP SUCKS BY DEFAULT COS WHY NOT LOL is real immature. 80% of open world pvp is [filtered] ganks when you have clear advantages anyway and then people trying to justify that.

I dont think that OWPVP> Instanced is immature at all. Its more than clear to a majority of people that this game has alot of potential in terms of open world pvp and content, and like you said more people would do it if they had incentives to. If they keep going down the instanced road TERA will become more and more generic.
Channels need to be removed for so many reasons

OWPVP is so overrated. With all this talk about how great it is, no one flags up and everyone complains about level differences.

Stop being stupid people.

False, theres plenty of OWPVP going on 24/7 in TERA. They need to expand on GVG in my opinion.

At 60 gvg creates a lot of pvp, even people pking around the named mobs is great fun
It helps if your guild is declaring a lot though
Gvg is an amazing sysystem with so much unutilised potential, imo gvg should be the basis for pvp vanarchs not bg's

I honestly don't mind by's as they are great for that pick up and play moment but rewarding grinding these kills pvp . To those saying they want fair pvp.. you realise their are deathmatch options right with an inbuilt wager function .. hell I would rather deathmatches rewarding players

Yea, they need to reward Open world pvp, they need to focus on open world content. Im a fan of the battlegrounds they are implementing, but if they continue to focus on instanced content afterwords there will be problems.
"I hope they never implement the BG's and actually work on why this game is amazing with PvP.

The OW. Scrap BG's and make GvG more meaningful. Give us the SvS they spout off about at PAX.

Give us an Open World Arena. NOT INSTANCED. Where we can bet on fights etc.

Seriously this game has so much potential to be one of the greats. Lets scrap the idea's that made past games terrible." - Vunak

I saw someone comment this and just had to post it. Vunak is 100% correct and this game is the first in a long time to sport good open world content, they need to move away from the instanced bg's immediatly.
( Sorry for repost but I accidently posted in general discussion). As of now, alot of lvl 60 players ( and non 60's ) take part in extensive periods of open world pvp. With TERA's combat system, I think the focus of adding new content, and revising the current should be PVP.

- Remove Channels from areas, there isn't enough abundancy in non end game area's to have frequent pvp battles in lower level- mid level area's and overall degrade pvp throughout the game.

- Expand on GVG, - GvG In my opinion is a great thing but should have my benefits/rewards for hunting down, or killing a war target. In EVE online something great they have added is gaining LP from war target kills, you may use this LP to purchase expensive and powerful items. ( Killing for reward= win, incentive for players to do Open world GVG= win, however GVG will see less and less activity if channels are not removed as well )

- Expand on outlaw system- An outlaw should be exactly that, an outlaw. Not someone to attack and kill for no reason when you could be questing or doing something to progress your character. Players should have reasons to go outlaw, and take down outlaws ( possible bounty board idea?) besides pure enjoyment (now that may be enough for me, but not others).

-Add more risk, right now if you get ganked, or killed one can just get full stamina via cleric of restoration, get whatever crystals they lost back and go on with life. With risk comes reward, if an outlaw dies they should lose something, or the player could possibly receive money compensation for taking him down. If a player kills a player they could drop certain items in their inventory and some gold, this would also give pvp players more incentive to take part in the economic portion of the game ( Selling items they loot, storing valuables in banks etc).

To conclude I think TERA is a great game, and has a long road ahead of it and I'm hoping that the Dev's will look at what needs to be done in order to ensure a healthy lifespan for TERA.

Archers in solo pvp will have some trouble with lancers obviously, however if you can kite properly any other melee should be a pretty balanced fight. That being said solo pvp will never be an archers strong point, they are killer in group engagements.
You guys aren't getting responses because en masse is aware, and its more than obvious pvp needs attention.
TERA's combat> Any other

Now all we need is rewards, for skillfully using that combat to kill others in the world, and in GvG combat.
