Crucius's Post History

I had the exact same thing happen. I submitted a ticket, though I doubt it will result in anything. Figuring I'm out the money.

Gosh Daish is annoying. But I think it would be to everyone's benefit if

1) After new character creation a screen appeared offering the player to either do the prologue or go straight to isle of dawn (even if it's the first character) . And explaining that if they take their prologue it will be short with a sampling of higher level spells that could be confusing. It is sad it has to come to that but many people really do need that much handholding.

And hopefully will provide Daish with one less excuse to post his wit and wisdom.

Incorrect sir. When you make your first character, you don't get an option. You click play, and you go to "prologue", that is all. There is no indication of anything.

personally i think the only reason i didn't like the prologue was jumping into it right at the beginning. if i had done even the first quests where i went across the bridge and kill the trees first, i think i would have enjoyed it rather than found it a frustrating mess.

For me, all it would have taken was a simple notification that hey, this is temporary. After getting through this you will start over with your real character and be given a chance to learn how to play the game.

Then I wouldn't have cared about trying to figure out exactly how all these abilities I'm starting with are supposed to work with eachother. I would have known to just left click basic attack my way through everything and get to the real game.

No one is saying the prologue is difficult to complete. Starting with a level 20 character's abilities and a new combat system is overwhelming and feeling like you have to master it immediately is simply frustrating when you don't realize that it's only temporary.

Now that I know that, doing the prologue on any other characters wouldn't bother me one bit.

There is a good point to be made here, unfortunately the OP ruined it with ridiculous exaggeration and a 3rd person attempt at being cool/cute.

I think most of the people saying the tutorial wasn't at all overwhelming or confusing are people who probably played during beta where the prologue wasn't present, or maybe came into the game with more familiarity for the combat system from other games.

For me, someone who has strictly played standard style MMO's for the last 6 years... The prologue/tutorial totally sucked.

I create my character and hop into the game... Ok here we go! Wait... I'm level 20, what? Umm ok. So lets see what I have to work with here; uhh ok I have like 8 different abilities right off the bat, and why are they all rank 3 already? WTF is going on here?? Well whatever, lets go. Ok.. clicky the quest guys, ok here's how I jump, Oh now I climb.. blah blah blah.

"You will engage in combat soon, press alt to enter cursor mode and review your abilities" Umm okay.. well lets see, I have 8 of them... I have no feel for how this combat system works, other than that I keep accidentally attacking the air or blocking with my shield because I'm used to using my mouse buttons for camera and movement. So here I am, with a bunch of abilities that I don't really know how they feel to use, how the combat really works at all, and you give me like 5 zombies to kill before you dump me into a big pile of mobs, and then after that throw a BAM at me. It's crazy, but not in a fun way. It's frustrating.

Now, here's why: I have no idea that this is temporary. That this is just a little blurb and after this the game resets and I start a happy little level 1 noob in a pleasant meadow where I can kill tree-men and deer who take 10 seconds to swing at me, giving me a feel for how the game actually works and letting me get used to me abilities slowly as I gain them one at a time while leveling.

As far as I know, this is how the game starts and it's just going to continue this way; you slop me into the mix with 8 abilities and combos and this new weird combat system to figure all at once.

It's very daunting and frustrating to a brand new player. The presentation of it is just terrible.

En Masse should allow players like you two, and probably countless others considering the physical copy is sold out, an extra free 30 days.

Speaking of 30 days and subscription issues... I bought the $50 digital download on Monday. This morning, Thursday, I got a subscription renewal email saying that my monthly subscription was renewed and I was charged 14.99 lol... fail? Or is some common misconception thing and how it was supposed to work?
