I am feeling some trepidation towards the idea of creating an RP server character when me and my friends already have characters on another server together, we all have agreed to migrate over to RP if I do. I am relatively new to TERA, I played the open beta but only recently came back when I heard it stopped asking subscription.
I have a few questions before I can decide if I want to move my group of friends over:

1. How much RP is around? Should we expect random RP in the streets, people staying always in character, complete abandonment of the game proper, or is the RP confined to interpersonal private groups?

2. What kind of RP should be expected? Lore centric, character centric, very loose, or does it vary wildly?

3. What's the population like? Packed to the brim or post apocalyptic wasteland?

tldr; Give me an idea of the RP server culture.

For proper RP, it's usually best to join an RP guild, or form a static group with individuals you know will RP. RP will extend your leveling sessions and you'll get more conversation and character building than levels, but personally that's something I prefer.

Actually these days all I log in for is to RP and chat at friends in game. ^_^u

Should you want to chat in-character, I mainly play Shooting.Star, my priest, or Nyddia my warrior. Also it's handy if you don't mind the presence of Elin. :D

To explain the process a bit, we need a new version of the game to port this. Building a new version of the game for this is not something that we at En Masse can do as a publisher. It's not just a copy and paste of another language either (although translation/localization itself is quite a handful.. Korean is just a very different language from English, not to mention one of the hardest to learn for non-native speakers). Each build for each territory needs to be built separately by BHS since there are other differences in territories. After it's built, there is testing, after it passes, the build is sent to us. Then it needs to be tested in our simulated environment before it can go live.

We tried really hard to get this for our holidays, but there just wasn't enough time for us (En Masse and BHS both) to go through all these. We wanted these available for our community as much as you did. :(

@FallenAnvil, Stop spreading rumors please. As for the crafting quests, it was never our intention to remove them (despite the community's feedback that requested them to be removed), and they were brought "back".

9/10 of the post was succulent, thank you - but I've got to stop a word real quick because it's not representative and I think it's important EME as the recipient of feedback not only understands, but lets us know they understand how they handle that feedback.

Specifically "As for the crafting quests, it was never our intention to remove them (despite the community's feedback that requested them to be removed), and they were brought "back".

That's why I sometimes see posts from people who advocate gaming mentalities of mid 2000's that even the games themselves that established them have evolved out of and fear EME will take them as legit gospel (because let's be honest now, things like offering a single Santa Cap as a reward for spending $25 on the EME as a promotion doesn't inspire confidence in the soundness of some decision making back at HQ when they make the Santa Caps worth silvers before 12/20 is even reached.)

Feedback from some Beta Testers led you to believe people did not want crafting quests. What kind of players were those beta testers? Since you guys obviously have the data it would be interesting to find out where those Beta testers are at at this moment. Are they even playing the game anymore? Because I can say from the get go, the moment we in game met the 250 crafting wall only a very very select few were able to breach it was kinda like general consensus in the forums from actual players outside of beta that crafting quests were needed.

I was one of the beta testers and crafting is one of the first things I really hammered on. FWIW I wanted to keep the crafting quests as there was actually a good point to having them in the game. I really wonder how much of a 'vocal minority' were these faceless other testers that cried for them to be removed, because not one tester that I spoke of crafting dailies with seemed to want their removal from the game.

I want that for my amani *-*
Excuse me while I go barf.
Seriously if you wanted sexy outfits maybe you shouldn't have chosen a hideous race that only a "scaly" would play.

And judging by the profile picture youve chosen your just another pedo thats into little kids. After all elins are a race that only pedos play right? :3

No im not being serious im just proving a point~

Seriously get off your high horse. Just because you dont like a race doesnt make it hideous and that gives to know right to insult the people who play it. Its all personal preference. You like to use little girls as your profile pic i like to use "hideous" female amani. To each his own.

QFT!

Heck, my main is an Elin, but I adore the way Amani males and females look. Back in the closed beta the first time I saw an Amani I thought 'Oh wow, that looks *so* metal!'. I even like the way they look so much I use one as my avatar. ...Now if only they had a smoother run cycle in-game...

its funny that they had to go through the whole censor thing when they are bringing those naughty costumes into the game. I know, or mostly assume that most of the censoring was because of the elin but at the same time they are giving those costumes to the elin anyways.

What was the point EME/BHS??

My thought is that it didn't turn out to be as big of a deal as the western management had thought, and then their desire for more money took a huge jump.

Incidentally the Elin swimsuits barely made it here, fortunately though EME was able to A) put a lid on that whole freaking out thing and B) saw the money-making opportunity.

I bought the 3 pack for my Elin main for RP beach parties. I haven't got any of the other suits or whimsical weapon skins since where the swimsuit stretches my immersion, a 'kill bill' striped jumpsuit and a pair of converse shoes completely smashes it.

I would however get a lab coat, as being a poison specialist is part of my RP as a Warrior.
We're active, healthy and always willing to meet new (and old!) players!

Yumie's a total doll too, BTW.

It's still nice to blend in with the atmosphere of a town. Guild Wars 2 had it added in fairly early on, so it's almost a bit of an insult on EME's part to have ignored the matter thus far.

They didn't ignore it, EME mentioned that they would like to work on adding a /walk toggle, but that it didn't have a very high priority.

This is too bad, since RP is practically all I ever do when playing TERA. I love the combat system, but loath the questing, therefor it's up to RP to entertain me.

TERA's RP tools are a bit anemic however. It's unfortunate that if I want a more robust setting and movement tools I have to go to another game for it. However both games lack interactive seating options... I'd really love to be able to simply sit in a chair at a table without having to hop over anything.

Especially if we could get innerwear on the shop *and* open world drop/crafting.

I'd buy the Midnight Maillot if I had the chance to again.

Your comment is pre mature. You said it yourself, you are new to this game.

Ask ANYONE who plays a Slayer, and a Berserker - if they are the same. In fact, I challenge you to find 1 other person, that feels these classes play remotley similar.

Priests and Mystic similarities?

About the only thing Priests and Mystics share is one lock - on type of heal. That is it. Mystics run Auras, which require constant in fight positioning adjustments to remain useful. Priests buff pre fight, with no in fight positioning requirements. Priests can heal up to 5 people at once via a circle. The max a Mystic can heal is 3. Anyone who plays either of these classes will absolutley tell you that the raw healing power of a Priest is vastly superior to that of a Mystic, but that if you are looking for more offensive output in your group, and less healing powerm the Mystic is fantastic.

Thralls? You are not experienced enough to explain how a Thrall of protection is used by a Mystic when PvPing against melee classes. We use them as a collision barrier against melee trying to pwn us.

Anyways, gotta love reviews by noobs.

4 Actually, the Mystic lock-on can heal four, but you have to spec into it.

Noob reviews are nice in that first impressions are informative, even if they do seem a little exaggerated at times.
Bring in leveling brackets: 15-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60.

Add in XP-locking, and suddenly more people get to have more fun.

That won't fix the BGs themselves, but it will make more use of the present system.
Rangers, as far as CH goes. We have just about everything else in spades, but Rangers are kind of annoying to play on the outset, so few people level them past their teens.

You'd think that given their party role limitations, Lancer would be a low population class, but there's actually quite a few of those..

Race wise? Baraka.

Race/class combo wise? Baraka Warrior.

Though... if you used the LFG system alone and formed your impressions based on queue time you'd think the game as a whole had a dearth of tank, healing and DPS roles...
