that was on my old system
all tera settings maxed except lighting enrichment, at 2

gt 430 1gb ddr3 <~seriously budget card
phenom quad be 9600 2,4ghz
8gb ddr2
win 7 x64
aero and desktop comp on
fraps recording settings:
force lossless, full size, stereo sound

optimize your systems. while it wasn't great fps, it wasn't as horribad as what has been posted here. my old systems specs are far below any here and my current system. mayhap half to most of your fps probs are you. because according to the so called fps 'pros' my old system should have been kicking out 5~10 fps without fraps running and recording with those settings.

with fraps recording? lol, don't even want to know what the 'pros' would have though the fps would be.

yeah, UI needs optimized, but a lot of it rests on your systems. clean them up, optimize, tweak. if a 4 year old low budget system could do that...why is yours so craptacular?

1. sankakucomplex, may have been during korean beta.

2. not really, i'd check randomly to see what was posted on it until the CB was announced for NA.

3. 80 days rounded. 21 characters

4. started in cb, semi-enforced break after OB, eme's account firm screwed up my account. around 3 months off. wasn't real urgent for me to get it fixed, playing another mmo, and wanted prices to stabilize in tera, with more stuff on the broker.

being an altoholic, having a selection and cheaper prices to gear out alts is something i'll wait for.
most likely you have ffdshow or something similar attempting to play the video. you'll have to dig through what ever codecs or codec packs you have installed and find where you tell them to ignore or not be used for specific apps. tera.exe in this case.

this won't work for viewing the files independently though bhs it seems has made some modifications to the standard bik format and has it's own player built into tera. sorting out codecs on your system should allow them to be played by the games built in player again.
there's a few options to fix the downclocking, nvidia inspector, which i've used, and msi afterburner, which i haven't. a final one is NV powermizer, it will back up reg settings, apply new settings for high perf(no down clocking), but most importantly and what i mainly use it for, restarting the driver without having to restart the system.

since once the driver downclocks, it seems nearly impossible to get it back up to speed without restarting the driver.

@xicor, it matters, a corrupted or out of date ver, possibly modified version could all affect fps, getting the latest to make sure only costs a little time. but as it stands now, it's the gpu down clocking that's one major cause of the issues.

and do check temps when it's running under load at full clock speed, no need to OC it. they should be ok unless you live in an oven, air cooled can only cool so far as ambient air temp.

get latest drivers for everything, update all runtimes and directx, shut down non-essential or bloatware stuff.

it's not your hardware, something in software is causing the issue. you should be getting better framerates even at max settings.

one other thing, make sure your cards gpu isn't downclocking while you're playing, thought this bug had been fixed but it reappeared with the latest drivers i picked up. nice little buggy 'green' feature to save power nvidia introduced a few years ago...and it's never functioned all that well. auto downclocks the gpu when it thinks it can. or just flat out glitches and downclocks it arbitrarily. selecting high performance through nvidias panel often doesn't it stop it from happening, there are some after 3rd party apps that can help though

I couldn't tell you if STO was good or bad, I never played it. I just went straight through the first review and the reasons given for it being considered bad. It seems simply arbitrary. Both are f2p grindy MMOs with questionable end games but one is considered awesome but the other is not despite equally repetitive and lacking replay value. People don't buy XP boosts on Tera alt rerolls because Tera has awesome replay value.

Tera NA/EU is slated to be at least 6 months behind for any content or patch updates (still waiting on Jan KTera patch) whereas STO at least gets regularly patched.

ah, don't go by the review then, incomplete...think he was trying to find nice things to say, while glossing over several flaws. STO gets patched, then crashes, then hotfixes, then nerfs, more crashes, more hotfixes. played it since it went f2p, quit after season 7 hit and went back a few weeks ago because romulans were being added.

i have played no mmo with the kind of repetitive grind sto has...and i've played rappelz, sto tops it. at least in tera i can switch to alts if i get bored/burnt out...not really an option in sto as it costs so much time and a currency called dilithium to even support one character. and everything valuable cost dil...and you're limited to producing 8k a day...and to even reach that cap you have to grind for several hours. and it's not transferable, character only. the stuff you buy with it (all gear is bound)? 6k~45k and up, so figure 8k a day, several hours per day to hit that cap, and it will still take no matter what you do 6 days to buy something for 45k. talk about padding a game out. oh, wait, there is something you can do

that almost p2w thing i mentioned, you can by zen with real cash...and exchange it for dil pre refined, bypassing that 8k cap a day...

and that poll i mentioned, had people saying no that had been playing since beta...being star trek has been the only thing keeping it afloat.

why i kinda facepalm at a lot of the complaints i see about tera...some people don't know how really bad it could be. rappelz was an old fashioned grind for levels, sto is a new fashioned hit cap in a week and then grind forever for gear, perks, etc.

tera is at least a nice balance...and is younger. i don't expect it to have the content of older games, i don't expect newly released content to instantly arrive. eme has shown a marked interest in keeping the game running with minimal crashes...so their vetting process on new content could be lengthy indeed. i'm ok with that, i'd rather have an update the performs flawlessly...to an update that crashes the client, and/or the servers constantly until a hotfix is rolled out.

already dealt with that kind of content and update patching modus operandi in too many mmo's...it's no fun.

????

You rated Star Trek Online as the worst and the reason you gave was because the gameplay was linear and no replayability.

Tera NA has like 1 end game PvE choice, polarizing PvP choice, and the level up process doesn't change (which MMO's level up process changed without an overhaul?). Tera is just as linear with the same replayability. But STO is ranked the worst but Tera is ranked the best.

I don't understand your arbitrary review criteria on what you decide is good or bad.

actually STO is the worst compared to anything. i could give you a multitude of examples if you want as to why it's one of the worst if not the worst f2p mmo, not withstanding it's transition to f2p from p2p. even a poll on it's own forums 'would you be playing this game if it did not have the star trek IP(intellectual property)?' was resoundingly answered with no.

eme and bhs have made a good transition f2p, bhs an excellent game...and it's still a relatively young game in mmo life spans. plenty of room to grow. i'd almost say...something unique in mmo's, that they might have actually looked into other mmo's to see what worked and what didn't...something rarely if ever publishers or devs do.

pig headed sods at cryptic/pwe went straight to ultimate grind or p2w, notto mention being in a fleet pretty much required. season 7, and the fleet system before that...the only thing keeping it completely out of p2w category is the fact that PvP is optional, not required. i think OP's review on STO was pretty rose colored glasses in theme.

if you're driver is downclocking it's not because of the game, it's a known bug in nvidia drivers that has been around for awhile, 2+yrs at least. only thing you can do is force high performance (no downclocking), nvidia inspector, msi afterburner, etc. even if set to high performance in nvidia panel, it will still occasionally downclock. has to be done through a 3rd party fix. disable aero if you have issues, it uses dx9, as does the game.

and nvidia lied in a way, unreal 3 is an old, well documented, well optimized engine. the only way bhs could change the game is to reduce the level of detail it has, reduce armor sets, reduce textures and texture sizes...do you really want that? if you don't know what unreal 3 is and why nvidias post was BS, research it.

if bhs had modified the engine, as in the case of bioshock infinite (irrational games), it would state that. unreal 3 modified. why is that important? because unreal wants to make it clear where their engine is responsible, or someone else is in the case of modifications.

clean your system, optimize it for running games, and never expect hardware to perform well without software support on your system. never expect bleeding edge tech to perform well with older engines at all.

So, the 384 bit GDDR5 VRAM of the GTX TITAN is slow, eh? Damn! Gotta call NASA and see what they've got!

IF you have an older, slower, slower vram, processor, yeah, that's going to bog everything too. your system is only as fast as the slowest component.

i capitalized the IF, understand now? clean your system, on second thought, never mind, half of you sound like pc tech posers who don't have a clue beyond i spent $$$ for bleeding edge so everything should run at light speed no matter what. i gave reasons why people can and do have issues in my first post. if you can't understand why that many things on screen at once could be a problem...no hope for you, keep qqing for a fix that will never happen, and that i don't ever want to happen, it would mean losing the detail that tera has.

like the 'fix' early on for low fps, reduced draw distance that SUCKED. they reversed it, some people got major fps issues again, but the game looks much better without the old borked draw distance.

Everyone does have problem with the game. Those that tell you they don't are used to playing at 11-25FPS. There is no such thing as "slower vram." Please stop spreading nonsense ideas around.

are you a troll or an idiot? vram comes in several speeds and types...simple google search would prove that. nonsense? that coming from someone who doesn't have a clue about hardware? mmmk.

and my fps 40~80 depending on where.

here's a protip, clean the junk off your system. advised someone else in these forums to do that, and they went from 20~30fps to 70~80. tera is a bandwidth hog, and junk you have running that eats into that will bog the game. another common sense thing, logical even...
