Deimar's Post History

I'm not in any of these guilds and dont know any of you, I'm still only level 31.

Xanadue, you aren't helping your cause for Vanarch by the way you are replying to the attacks on this thread.

Even if all of the replies were trolls and liars and everyone knew it, your replies are just as bad as theirs.

Had you been mature and respectful in your replies you would likely gain votes. Personally, I would never vote for you just based on your replies in this thread.

Most people are likely looking for Vanarchs that don't act like little children in a schoolyard fight.

The fact is that the hitboxes for Elin and a couple others are quite a bit smaller then some of the larger classes.

It's also pretty apparent that the range on some attacks/skills for some classes are also longer for Elin or another of the "smaller" races.

All things being equal between two players, the Elin player would have an advantage. You cannot deny that.
Otzd and others:

Can you elaborate on how a zerker is good for group pvp (compared to the slayer)?

What size group? Are we talking about small 3 or 4 man groups taking on other small groups?

I recently started a zerker but am having second thoughts as it doesn't seem to be the "best" or even "very good" at anything compared to other classes :(

tks
my bad, I think its the fem castanic zerk that has a block similar to just holding the axe

only going by memory right now

I'm still on the fence for which class and race

can't decide on slayer or zerker (on pvp server)
and then should it be elin, fem castanic (both for smaller hitbox) or human (for the racials)

Thanks OP!

Now I need to see if I can find out who has more range on combo attacks and skills like thundering strike, elin or female castanic!

I'm also going to look at which of the two is harder to tell when they are blocking. Elin is hard to tell as they are small and the block looks somewhat same as when just holding the axe I think.

By the way, when did you do these tests? Was this recently on the NA servers?
OP, could you compare the hit box sizes of Elin and female Castanic please?

tks!
Are you sure that having a faster attack wont make your entire movement animation just faster and not necessarily shorter?

If this hasn't changed, there IS a difference in hitbox size and attack ranges for melee.

Does anyone have anything official that contradicts this?
When you are talking about pvp, many players will make decisions that result in advantages, not disadvantages.

When you are deciding on which glyphs to take, do you purposedly pick the ones that are inferior?
When equiping gear or crystals, you don't leave your best items in the bank, you put them on.

This is the same kind of decision making that many pvp players will make. For some, they dont care much about what their character looks like (to a certain degree of course). If one particular race/sex gives an advantage compared to another, it will likely be chosen unless it's got other features that are very un-appealing.

For the most part, the racial traits are insignificant or on such long cooldowns that you wont use them much at all.

Having up to a 40% range increase on some skills sounds pretty huge to me. In pvp it could mean you can immediately trigger that skill after that sorcerer jumps back instead of having to run up a bit and then hit the skill.

I know that I've seen the difference in pve fairly often. A mob will end up 10m away after they use a skill or something and I know I can hit them instead of having to move up a couple meters and then start winding up my skill.

Until we see a complete list of all skill ranges for each race/sex combination, we have no way of really knowing if any particular one is a lot better then any other.

I have limited testing but my results favoured Elin or Popori for slayer. It's totally possible that both of those races will end up with shorter ranges on the high-level slayer skills...

At some point I'd love to find high level slayers for each race/sex and compare ranges for all the main skills.

There'll always be those that min/max as much as possible, in many cases it's not because they must win at all costs, the min/maxing itself is the challenge.

There actually is a difference in ranges and in some cases it is quite significant.

For example, I tested the range on the slayer skills Knockdown and Overhand and found some differences.

I don't have my results with me at work but I do remember seeing some race/sex slayers only had 8m range on one of those skills. I think it was human that had 8m/10m for one sex and 10m/8m for the other sex.

Some race/sex combinations had 10m/10m for those two skills. I found one that even had an 11m range on one of those skills, can't remember if it was overhand or knockdown but that one race/sex had a 3m advantage over a slayer of another race/sex combo. That is very significant.
