Just done all Arachnea BAM quests me as a warrior tanking and 2 guild archers. Never lost agro to any of them even tho I don't have any + threat crystals. I used torrent blow tho but not too often. So yeah it should be tank issue not being able to hold agro not yours.

poison arrow is likely the threat culprit, either through massive deeps, or just a simple bug, and as such running with 2 archers who are constantly resetting each others poison arrows would make it easy to hold their threat

I think you are confused. Archers are insanely easy to play. There is no time or work required to be a good one. Who can't figure out how to charge one shot, salvo cancel, and then charge the other? If you want to get fancy, toss in a trap and some close quarters. This isn't rocket science.

Sorcerers are WAY more difficult to play than archers. I know, i have both. If you are playing the archer for the skill required, you are playing the wrong class.

Maybe you can enlighten me, in PvE every sorc I see drops a few AoEs then watches things melt before them, Meanwhile in PvP they usually hit their target with a sleep, then 1/2-shot it. Now I'm not going to say one way or the other but tell me where exactly the archer has an advantage over the sorc.

(note being simple is not the same as being easy, a class with 1 attack that only has a 1m range and only does 1 damage would be simple, but ungodly hard 1000 star class.)

Sad truth is, some chains are hard-coded , not sure that vortex slash is one of them, but warriors have quite a few

You can aoe easier with slayer in my opinion. Even warriors since both do AOE damage up close and have better tools to mitigate damage.

I can pull a ton with my archer too but having downtime is just the same as fighting them one by one. I'm still learning the class, I should hit the 40s tonight or tomorrow and will learn more. Maybe after that they solo better but right now compared to how I played my warrior and slayer its a lot slower.

I think maybe your slayer friend is doing something wrong.

I don'y know how a slayer would handle 5-6 mobs at once, not to mention how he would pull them all, as for downtime, I don't have much or any, I pull an AoE, kill them, pull another. Keep my mana up by sprinkling in some auto-attacks while kiting, and take little to no damage.

My slayer friend isn't doing anything wrong per-se, but he doesn't AoE mobs, because he has a really hard time with it

There's not a lot of archers in comparison to other classes, especially slayers which is a dime a dozen. I queue dungeonfinders and rarely ever see high level archers. But every group usually has a slayer.

I don't know if that will affect your choice or not. Personally I feel the leveling process for archer is much too slow. It's safe but who cares about that.

It's only slow If you play single target, I fight groups of 6+ mobs my level while questing, out-pacing my slayer friend by alot.
level 46 archer here, I don't know exactly whats being complained about in this thread. Our solo PvE is fun and quick, with the ability to do large AoE pulls and kite them. Our dungeon dps might be low but there's no dps meter so you wouldn't be able to determine that.

I don't know whats wrong with poison arrow, Arrow volley blows, but you don't need to use it ever so meh.

The only legitimate complaint archers can have is that we have no way to "dodge" lock on skills, and we should get some invuln frames on our backstep, not to mention that without them backstep feels really wierd.
friend goes 1 - 20 playing zerker "idk what the problem is", hit the first boss of SB "ohhh that's the problem"
Archers go in and out of melle range pretty often; the archer flow goes

get charged -> stun the charger -> regain range and punish the charge -> get charged again
I don't see the warr -> rouge correlation, for wow players they act exactly like WoW warriors, in that they "charge" onto someones face and stick there through a combination of CC, gap closers and being tanky [filtered]. Warr's sit on your face all day and eventually you crumble.

for most player's id think that rogue = slayer, slays have the mobility to get in/out of fights, but the squishyness and burst damage that most players associate with the rogue class
It's possible that we'll see more servers at release both PvP and otherwise. That aside, I don't mind having to wait in a Q on the first day of a game pre-release, It shows that the game is much more popular than the dev's expected, and that's always a good sign
