You can redeem the item but NOT equip it, and you will be able to put it in your own bank to transfer to any characters you have on the SAME server. Once you redeem them, you're able to preview them. Once you actually equip the item, it becomes soulbound to that character. So, you can redeem all three on your main, preview them, pick the one you like best and equip it, then throw the others in the bank and try them on other toons.

Fortunately, up until this point, I've had the opposite experience. In fact, while running BoL with loot settings wrong, I had a lancer win the blue leather chest. I kindly informed them that I was interested and would be willing to pay if they wanted.
Not only did she give me the chest, but when the run was over she went to her bank and grabbed the blue leather gloves she had there, giving me those as well. Keep in mind, I had never met this person before getting randomly paired in LFG, and I certainly didn't ask if she had equips I could use sitting around in her bank.
I've done the same a multitude of times, handing over weapons and armor I was saving for alts to new friends who could use them, explaining the crystal system by buying people crystals to use, etc.
I guess all I can say is, try to not let it get to you, and when you find nice people, friend them and try to keep in touch.
And if you're on Jagged Coast, add Pedestrian!!

Weapon skins should be $3-$5 if they're only available on one character. If they want me to pay $10, they should be account items that I can use on every (insert class here) I ever make. That would be like making the lion from the CE work on only one character.
I'm fine with premium services, but they need to be careful. As others have said, as long as the content stays relatively tame, it will be fine. But the more things go premium-only, the less a $60 game with a monthly subscription is appealing.

I haven't had any problems with lag. Maybe you should go play all those other games.
