I wave and flail my arms wildly and navigate by resource collection nodes and often time I have no idea where I am anymore.
@ Everyone who is a Monster Hunter fan/Veteran
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm, more or less, substituting this game in place of a Monster Hunter MMO (which does exist, called Monster Hunter: Frontier, but only in Asia...)
So... yeah.
Actually... playing MH3 right now... (to relax from work and all.)
I'm just going to put this out there, again:
NOT EVERYONE HAS FOREVER TO PLAY. SOME OF US DO SOMETHING CALL WORK.
That being said, having hard as hell things to enchant doesn't mean you're good in a game like this where reactionary reflexes count a lot. Having a very high enchanted item, with the system that OP is proposing, will only mean (as stated before) that you have:
A: A lot of time on your hands and don't actually see the sun (or moon).
B: Are extremely lucky (which... doesn't mean you're good, in case anyone is wondering).

Going back on topic, this list is actually really nice:
To be honest, I'm not certain how the level different between parties are. Seems to be a limit of 5? Or something.
I would just say go and enjoy the ride. Otherwise, people burn themselves out. Some people just have a longer wick than others...

.... my years of frantic behavior and flailing my arms pay off in this game....not really sure what you'd call that though.
But yeah....
I... feel my soul being shattered at reading what Oceanic players have to go through with their ping.
I mean, I start to get annoyed with anything over 150...
I would offer advice on how to fix things, but, I don't know any fixes.
Only thing I can think of in my mind is disabling the Nagle algorithm or whatever it was. Can't remember. From what I can remember (with my shoddy mind), is that it's something that most computers have so it can do dial up? Or... something...
The questions were more in reference to saying people saw Elins as children and wondering how others might roleplay them. I realize that the lore around them says they are not children, they just look like... what was it? Some God's youngest daughter and are frequently associated with looking like a orphan in the translated lore.
Roleplay is obviously not really a concern in Korea, but do the censored armors not seem like something that someone who is a bit more mature would wear? I know that you can't get much help from the game itself roleplay-wise.
Sorry if I seemed annoyed on that subject, my run-ins with Elin have thus far consisted of... the sorts of people who would never touch an MMO with a ten foot pole because of... I'll just say certain stereotypes, certain, misinformed stereotypes.
Another thing that was ignored from one of my previous posts, everyone wanting censorship gone keeps bringing up two more things - an on/off toggle and the "we are adults" thing. First, it takes under five minutes to just download the textures and apply them if you want the nipples on all the women, and thongs on Elin. Not sure about the male ones. It is available to anyone who wants it.
Second, I already mentioned this, but yes, some of the people playing on US servers are adults. But this is blanketing "adults" by thinking that they are all single and childless. You cannot regulate who has access to an online video game. Heaps of people here play MMOs with their family because just like any other form of entertainment, it's a common middle point at which many people can connect better with their kids, teenagers, or otherwise. In Asia, this type of thing is unheard of. While I lived in Japan for school, most of my friends there had never been aloud to have their own video games because Japanese parents would rather die than not have their child grow up and be a doctor or something. I lost a friend over Asian social standards.
Yes, in the Korean version you have nipples, young-looking girls in thongs, and all the other good stuff that draws in the Asian MMO community. But that is just it, it is an entirely different community from the NA and Oceanic ones. Whether anyone likes it or not, kids will be playing this and every other MMO that has NA servers, because their parents let them and because they have been forever. Most parents do not consider MMO's to be any more dangerous for their children than Facebook. Companies like EME are very well-aware of this and they do make the games more suited to a larger range of ages and cultures.
When people say "we are adults and can do whatever we want," they are ignoring that most of the player base probably does not fall into the 18-25 category, because many are above that and some are below. It is not this way in Asia, the majority of MMO players are single men. However, on NA servers on any given MMO, the average percentage of players who are under 18 is roughly 35% (the average of most polls, surveys, etc. probably not extremely accurate, but close enough and still huge.) I think Tera's numbers will be much lower, but there will still be a large number of youngsters, because it is an MMO and it is available to them and it is fun.
/endrant I suppose it's a little off-topic, but still. It started because people were agreeing with a guy who wanted sex scenes in an MMO with characters that "look like" children, that censorship is bad. So it's a little on-topic, too. There seem to be a lot of mixed feelings on the actual original topic, due to mentioning Elin at all...
Well jeez.... the topic derailed immensely while I was gone at work, and apparently even more as I was in game...
I'm going to keep this short (or try).
A: I can understand trying to reach out to a wider audience for the same of growth and monetary means. Ultimately, En Masse is a company and will seek a profit. In an attempt as such, they will appease people.
B: Nipples, we all have them. It's a fact of life. I've lived in America for awhile and I am agitated by the pseudo-Puritanism still vastly pervasive in American society after having come from the said Asian countries where women are degraded and such. If you want to argue numbers... they have a larger population and thus the numbers of death and atrocities are higher. I'm not sure of the percentages though. Values and life is different there though. They have their own issues, we have ours (as we can see.)
C: Concerning the lore of the Elin, they are beings from nature, and clothing is unnatural in the first place. That very fact, could even possibly mean they shouldn't wear clothing (I wouldn't like that, I like clothing, thank you.) However, to fit into a society, they might have adopted the clothing as such.
D: Replacing textures and such could be considered modifying the game files and such. I haven't read the EULA (for once) of Tera, but like most MMOs, I'm going to assume we, as players, aren't usually allowed to mess around with it. Now, whether or not it'll be enforced or not is a different question, but I'd rather not risk it.
That is why I would vouch for the "toggle" option.
E: Censorship of content. I do agree with a certain level of censorship, as I don't agree with "sex scenes" in a MMO. However, if one is to censor something based on the premise that it is not moral to have a child-like race running amok in questionable clothing, it leads to other questions such as:
Child-like race is allowed to wage war(battlegrounds/death matches), does this support the use of child soldiers in Africa?
Child-like race is allowed to murder (on pvp servers, turn on world pvp), does this support gang activity of youths?
Point being, the censorship isn't consistent (also the nipples on every statue in Velika are still around). I would argue that if this is really trying to cater to those with families with younger children, they should take out the Elin race and the Castanic females entirely. Would that mess with the game? Yes. However, having a partially censored races is almost equally as bad as it just sends mixed messages to the player base.
tl;dr
A: EnMasse needs to make money and thus will censor so children can sneak on and play.
B: Nipples; we all have them.
C: Elin are child-like race of nature, clothing is unnatural.
D: Replacing textures can potentially breach EULA and be grounds for disciplinary action as seen fit.
E: Censorship is not consistent.
Truthfully, I'm torn over the issue still. Just too sticky in a lot of places, but I can see where everyone is coming from. Helps to have two sets of families; one set from the west, one from the east.
BACK ON TOPIC
Found a useful function.
/? emote
This should list all emotes in game. Wasn't able to confirm it because I got distracted... but... -shrug- A few days before we can test it, yes?
Also, roleplaying in channels. Would designating channel 1 be the best way for more heavy RP? Or dedicated full on RP I mean. As in, staying in character all the time? Save for special circumstances or biological functions.
