You guys seem like a nice and friendly bunch. I'm still a level 49 sorcerer (work has been really hectic, so I got stalled....it should quiet down next week). Is that ok with you guys? :)

I very much agree. The first person to throw out a welcome for me when when I was still checking things out, was carrying a Heartwood Knights sig. I've had my eye on them ever since, and I really like the good vibes they send out. Very cool.

I'm currently working with a 29 sorcerer and 24 slayer, with a couple of 12-15's on the sidelines. Haven't exactly been in a rush to end-game, been taking my time and checking out all the different classes.

I did praise/vote for ya'll though! ^_^
Hey there Livedefflo!

I just moved to the Dragonfall server recently, and it's turned out to be a good experience. I believe it's one of the most active PVE servers. As far as PVP, I think Valley of Titans is the biggest (please correct me if I'm wrong here folks). One nice thing is that character transfers are free, minus a few cooldowns/restrictions, so you have much more flexibility to move around here and check out different realms.

As far as classes go, from my observations the tank is the least popular, as usual. Lancers and warriors are the two tanking classes, but warriors seem to be kind of a special case there, so I think lancers are your standard tanks. As always, I say you should play the class you like the most.

Welcome aboard!

Questioning stuff like "fish that are fresh water in salt water" in a world with magic, elves, fox ear little girls, and a cornucopia of other stuff that isn't real, is stupid. I wouldn't say you're a fish geek. I'd say you're just an idiot.

No need for all this, now. You can disagree with someone without insulting their intelligence.

The fact that the OP noticed this just shows critical thinking on his/her part, which is great! Whenever I notice little out-of-place things like this, I think to myself that we really have no confirmation that these are the same species of fish that we would have here on Earth, but only that we observe them to be so.

it's quite possible that this is an entirely different species of fish that exists in another world, that may have different biological needs, and thrive in different habitats. They just happen to look like *insert similar looking fish here*, and we made the connection based off of our perception of how Earth should be.

I think we'll need to take some samples of these new life forms back to the alchemy lab for further analysis! 8^D

So I have been playing MMOs since 2002, and up until about summer 2011, I always had one that I always played when I had free time. It was my go to game, and I didn't worry about anything else. I played 3 MMOs mainly from 2002-2004, 2004-2006, and then 2006-2011. I won't throw their names around for hopes that I won't be flamed, but they made me content for a time, but after a while their content became not to me liking.

From summer 2011, to now I have played 34 MMOs in hopes of finding one to stick to. However none of them stuck because I couldn't stand the f2p Model, or didn't feel like it was worth a sub.

I just got my acceptance letter a few days ago for college, and I am excited, but my first thought was... "I can't be constantly trying games out, I need one that I can call home. To play when I have down time." I want to find one before I move into the dorms, so I have all the grinding down, and can just play when I get the chance.

That's what brought me to Tera, I have read a dozen or so reviews, and watched tons of videos, and decided I really want to give this game a chance, and hopefully make it my home. The only problem is for some reason I can't run the game on anything other than Lowest. This is strange for me because I haven't had to do this in a while. The only game I really have had to mess with the settings on at all was Rift, and I had to make it medium high. I was wondering if I couldn't run it any better, or if there was something I could do without paying (Money is tight with college around the corner.) to increase my fps.

Specs are...

8 Gb DDR3

2.9 Ghz Dual core

Nvidia GT 520

I'm used to getting 30-40 FPS, yet I get lower than that on this game on the lowest settings, so I just really don't understand. I don't have any processes, or anything up besides the game/launcher, and I even tried turning off itunes (Usually listen to podcasts while gaming) hoping the little bit of memory that was taking up could help, but nothing seems to be doing it.

Hi Gornam, congrats on your acceptance letter, and welcome to the forums!

From my observations, the game is very CPU intensive; my GPU gets approximately 50-60% utilization, where I'm used to seeing closer to 100% in other games. There's also an issue with the UI causing large FPS loss for a lot of people (myself included), EME is currently investigating. The first thing I would try if I were you, would be to disable the UI (Ctrl-Z) and run around a bit and see what kind of difference it makes for you. This is a quick and easy thing to check. I get a 10-15 fps difference from this on my system, so I'm playing on video preset 2 (I'm auto-detected at preset 5), and this gives me around 30-40 fps in areas with other players; more if I'm out in the wild.

My system specs for comparison:

Q6600 Core2Quad oc'd to 3.0GHz
8Gb PC2-8500
nVidia Gefore GTX480

Just like you, I've played many MMO's over the years, going back to the days of Ultima Online. As a long time WoW player, this is the first one that's captured my interest in a while, and feels like they're doing some things different. It's still rough around the edges, being a new release and all, but I think it's got a lot of potential.

Hope this helps!

yes it is [filtered] SUCK.

Joined a [filtered] PT for BT nm and got kick out because don't have a tier12 weapon at least +7. I wonder how you people get ur armors and weapon without getting help.

I find this post to be extremely ironic. This person is attempting to share their feelings about poor quality community, by being...a poor quality member?

Sharing your frustrations here is certainly welcome, but when your post contains the word SUCK in all caps over 30 times in such a small paragraph, you can see how it's difficult for us to take you seriously or offer any helpful advice.

As others have said, we have good and bad members, just like any other community. By making a post like this, you've just made yourself part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.

Hope this thought will help you improve the quality of your posts in the future.

Is it sad that your post made me count how many times the word suck was used? >.>

By the time I started typing I had forgotten whether it was 31 or 32, and I didn't want to guess and be called out on it later, so I felt 30+ was still accurate enough for general use. =)

Regardless of the poor wording here, I can share the OP's frustration. I know how it feels to be shunned and ridiculed by your peers when you feel you've done nothing wrong, and are trying to do the right thing to the best of your ability.

Although I haven't made it to endgame yet, I think it's unfortunate to hear about people getting kicked from groups for missing those final tiers of enchanting. I have never voted to kick someone from a group based on poor performance alone. I would much rather have someone with lower numbers and a cheerful attitude, than a so-called "elitist jerk" pulling big numbers and insulting everyone. It might take a little longer to finish whatever we're doing, but I'm sure we'll have a much better time doing it! Coupled with the fact that some people just need some hands-on time and practice to really start performing well, and it's clearly a win-win for everyone.

Hi there Vosszaa, I'll try to answer a few of these for you! =)

1) The auction house in TERA is called the Trade Broker, and there's one in most of the bigger towns. If you've used the WoW auction house, you should be able to pick it up fairly quickly.

2) When you say "find your own", I'm guessing you mean as opposed to something like crafting? I would say from what I've seen so far, that's essentially correct, most of your good stuff is going to come from bosses, like always.

3) One interesting thing I've noticed is that all the loot that drops in dungeons is BoE, which took a little getting used to for me. I'm not sure if this continues into the higher levels, but the first two dungeons seemed consistent on this.

4) From what I've heard, getting to level 60 isn't a terrible grind, like some other games in years past.

5) And yes, current level cap is 60.

6) I think crafted gear is a little more useful here, compared to something like WoW; however, it's more of a helping hand while working on the boss drops, and not a replacement.

7) You can also earn gold by selling at the trade broker / auction house.

8) I have not seen any player-run shops. I've heard some discussion that the Korean version has this feature, but it was cut for the NA release. Unfortunate, as I thought this was a really cool feature back in UO, but I'm sure there would be a lot of players that would view it as an inconvenience.

9) I've seen that you can flag yourself as a PK on PVP realms, but I'm not familiar with the pros and cons of doing so.

10) I'm currently on Dragonfall, which is a highly populated PVE realm. I'm not sure what would be best for the oceanic zones, maybe someone else can suggest something?

As for the character transfer, yes there is one, and it doesn't incur a financial penalty! There are some restrictions, such as a 7 day cooldown, but otherwise you are free to move between realms at no cost. Very cool indeed.

Hope this was helpful, probably need someone else to hit on a few points that I'm not familiar with.
I think a day/night cycle would be cool, I prefer the ambience of night and having the stars out when I'm playing. I also prefer it to be on a 24 hour cycle, so I know if I log in at night what I'll be getting.

Although, with the technical problems that have been mentioned, I would consider this on the "low priority" wishlist, sadly. =(

Maybe someday though!
I enjoyed this article as well, very cool!

Congrats and keep up the good work!
I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I clicked on this thread, but it turned out to be a fun and interesting read.

Best of luck on your election! =)
