Foreverlord's Post History

Oh, yea forgot to mention. I know its against forum rules to post "goodbye" threads. But considering how in-game mail is so limited. And I'm offering some more insight here than just "Dis game sucks i'm leaving!", perhaps the mods will give my pals a chance to read over before lock/delete.

See you space cowboy.
Dear friends,

If you are reading this, know that I have moved on. But do not be sad. Due to In game mail being limited to 300 characters- i could not send you mail personally but perhaps deliver my message through the forum and all those Jagged Coasters.

As I followed the game closely during beta (watching Youtube videos of gameplay), and played throughout the levels and end game- I really fell in love with Tera. The combat foundation and artstyle is superb and potential in its world to make itself is so great. But it's love for me is short lived. The execution of how content is implemented in this game is so very flawed, and the lack thereof- even after a year and a half in Korea leaves me wanting more but the realization of that which is shallow is too great.

My lancer end game is consistent nothing more than farming the same 2/3 instances over and over again for the hope of getting fodder for +X on my gear, and grinding rep. Even the Hard Modes of these dungeons consist of nothing more than the same bosses with no new mechanics other than added enrage timers and more damage to the party. PvP can be fun, but for independent players like some of us- no organized PvP in the game implemented means nothing more than gank fests while you are out farming for trash drops or quest mobs.

True- every end game is a grind, but at least in raids where you have 10+ players in a raid you feel that the culmination of your experiences learned and the knowing of your class you can use on a grandeur scale. Playing your class and your abilities can be demonstrated to a greater scale used on bigger fights where a larger team is dependent on each other for success and progress together... rather than just the same old 5 mans over and over again with no impact and no motivation to persuit anything further.

As I have been leveling a slayer alt - I really have become privy to the class imbalances that plague the players. Impossible dungeon queues for the DPS, and the monotony that drives players away from leveling a lancer makes instancing/bam quests close to chore to do. That is why we all see ppl shouting in LFG for hours on end for the same quests and looking for the same things over and over.

I know that class changes and new content is due for the end of this summer... but until then and in the mean time. I simply cannot be compelled to support you any longer with countless amount of hours in the same content/lack thereof and my hard earned subscription money. Even after a year and a half old of being released in Korea and being imported to the U.S - I feel this game is still not finished, but what MMO truely is? it never is- but it is not at a level that is satisfactory of continued investment at this point.

For those of you who have known me as the Pugmaster tank... I am sorry that I must leave. But everyone has a decision to make on what to do with their own time and money. I simply no longer feel the love from this game anymore- the enjoyment/reward factor earned vs investment/time put in is simply not enough.

For those of you who are still in love with this game, please continue to explore and enjoy your time together. Find out different avenues and community organized events - maximize your time leveling and enjoyment of what this game has to offer in all aspects. As for me... perhaps I will see you once again down the road months later in the LFG channel. Until then...

Pugmaster Lancer,
Foreverlord
It's been about another 10 Balder's Temple runs since my last post regarding disbandiing, still no lance drop yet so, still plugging away. But anyways - just another situation I encountered today.

So I queued up again today for BT and everything was peachy till we got to the last boss and here was the make-up. This was not our initial make-up as the slayer was a queue-in at the last boss as our initial 3rd DPS was DC'ed due to subsciption issues.

1x 145 Sorc
1x 145 Mystic
1x 147 War
1x 141 Slayer, 142 Slayer, 141 Slayer

As the Slayer (from VoT) queues in - we all inspect him and determine that his iLvL was kind of low for this fight. However, since my last post people said do not judge and jump to conclusions based on gear and give people a chance. So the war said it shouldnt be a problem and he would be able to carry since his iLvL was so much higher. So we agreed to try it out.

Keep in mind we asked the slayer if he knew the fight and he said yes and he did carry scrolls/pot. Needless to say - he screwed a couple of tiimes during the attempt and we ended up wiping at 1%. Group Opted to replace him.

Queue again. We get another slayer - (from VoT again) - iLvL 142, 1 higher than the last one. We begin to inspect his gear. We ask some questions but he doesn't respond, but we inspect anyway. LvL 48 crystals and LvL 35 Crystals. Hmmm... I don't like being an [filtered] If I don't need to be - but when someone does not take the effort to even ensure they have updated crystals... are they worth the effort of 4 others to carry him? and that he doesn't bother to communicate? Group Opted to replace him.

Queue again. We get yet - be amazed, Another SLAYER, but this time from Basilisk Crag. iLvL 141. So we are already kind of shaky on low iLvL slayers but, we don't want to leave room for doubt. Upon inspection crystals are ok, he stated he had completed this before and has scrolls/pots. Ok - we decide to give it another shot. FAILS - DPS was pretty tight at the end, could we have done it maybe, but didn't happen. Slayer fails to dodge laser and dies while boss is at 6%. The rest of us continue to DPS the boss down to 1% but black phase stops our progress.

Sorc leaves the party. Mystic is disgruntled. War is surprised his high iLvL DPS was not enough to carry. I explain that its fine - and DID not disband but gave apologies and left so that others may continue if desired. More than 2 hours waisted in BT which normally takes 35 minutes.

What do you think? was I premature to leave?

TL:DR = First Slayer low iLVL, gave it a shot. Said she knew fights - messed up quite abit. Wiped due to failing DPS check- group kicked.
2nd Slayer did not communicate, had lvl 48 crystals and 35 crystals - group kicked before attempt.
3rd Slayer low iLVL, had experience with fight and had scrolls. Death by lazer during burn phase - could not recover dps in time. Wiped. I apologized, pass lead and quit.

Have I improved upon my "ethics" in LFD since last time? or should I have kept continued trying?

I think in the end it boils down to time/effort/patience.

I for one believe that if you tend to do end game content - then you need to do your research ahead of time. This is not a single player game. One person not knowing there job in the group can wipe 4 others and time is waisted - take the time to do watch a video/read a guide, know whats required and what needs to happen to down bosses.

these are fundamental things all end game mmo's require. well... except for WoW raid finder- but thats a different story.

I am here to play the game just like everyone else - I do not find it fun wiping over and over again because someone failed to do simple research - whereas they could have learned before hand. Lets face it - I may never meet this individual again in LFD. He probably doesn't care about me. Why should I invest so much time when it could be more or less a one time deal?

I believe in developing community - but not in the sense where people feel they are "entitled" to clear or run any content just because they hit lvl 60 "yay". You wanna run end game dungeons - then do your research and make sure you have the sufficient gear. That's why i'm still farming the same dungeon over and over again isn't it?
I am so sad :'(. so much hate. I hope when u guys run BT you will all take people who have done no research into the dungeon and first timers who are very undergeared. And use your time in wiping to educate them.

I don't think I can do it :(.

I have run BT many times and the only time I have met the dps requirements at the end boss with anyone below 141 was with other dps carries with iLvL 146.

Honestly, no one likes to purposely kick anyone. But after failing everytime if certain requirements are not met... you sorta have to take that experience and apply it, right?
I tend to agree that lancer's setup is kind of a catch 22. The way that aggro drops in this game is pretty relevant.

Currently, in order to generate aggro you gotta spam taunt or continuously provide damage. Problem is that when u go into shield mode to mitigate damage you cannot provide any damage to sustain that constant threat you need - therefore you gotta constantly be fighting for aggro back and forth between dps.

I guess its a way that bluehole designed the aggro system with the lancer so its not easy mode, actaully have to time when to use your skills and can't turtle too much.
hmmm from I can gather I see that the harsh criticism mainly comes from disbanding the group. Perhaps it would have been better to just pass lead and leave rather than disband, I will keep that in mind.

While I have no doubt that certain ppl who are of lower iLvL can output more dps than some with higher DPS. - Did you read into the part where I explained certain individuals did not know mechanics of the dungeon?

Simply doing DPS 1 2 3 4 5 is one thing, but failing to understand and know mechanics at the expense of 4 other players is something else. Taking the time to watch a video guide or read a strat would surmise to be sufficient. But simply queueing up and expecting to be carried by more experienced players while not knowing anything yourself is not something I am willing to tolerate.

And I had hope that none of you would to.
First off I am a Lancer, I have been farming Balder's Temple for a Eye Opener with no success for 2 weeks.

Today I Intentionally disbanded a LFD group for the first time. Do you guys think I did the right thing?

Here is the situation:

1 Mystic iLvL 141
1 Archer iLvL 142
1 Sorcerer iLvL 146
1 Slayer iLvL 140

(All from VoT)

Normally I try to form on server locally as much as I can (Jagged Coast), but it was 4am Central Time and not many people are actually on doing dungeons at this hour. So I solo queued.

As I enter the dungeon I ask to inspect everyone to make sure we have the sufficient DPS to clear this. Normally on our server people who do BT always request 144+ for a normal run. I have done it with 141s mixed with 145s and the such but always we average out at arround 144.

I explain to the group and the slayer politely that this dungeon has hard dps mechanics at the last boss and we will not be able to do this without solid dps. Slayer goes on to say that this is his first time in THIS dungeon and he just wanted to try it and does not know fights and has been in queue for 2+ hours. I feel sympathetic but at the same time... I don't want to wipe hours on end when I already know we don't have the DPS to do this. So i apologize and vote to kick. The archer, I don't know if he is a friend or his or not, but declines the vote. So I respectfully apologize again and explain that we simply do not have the DPS to do this. Archer again declines. So... after that I explain I'd rather wait on my CD then wipe for 3 hours to no avail - and DISBAND.

Do you guys think I did the right thing?

TL:DR: Went into dungeon, had very low DPS. Explained that we can't do this and why we can't. Apologize and vote to kick. Vote to kick declined by certain member of group twice, after explaining again. Did not want to wipe endlessly- decided to disband.
Again today, people in LFG chat complaining about how this game is sucks because they sit in queue for 2 hours and nothing happens. I suggested that they roll tank/healer so that they can get in and help the balance... and then there was silence.

multiplayer game means that everyone has to contribute, if everyone just wants to do there own thing and not contribute - then everyone ends up suffering in the long run.
Hi guy/gals

I have been seeing so much Lancer hate lately on the forums and I'd like to point out some personal experiences in game and how it relates. With the spoiler of the up comming patch and warrior tanking buff - many people are rejoicing, but lets talk about the state of lancers right now.

My Lancer is level 60 on JC and I have been tanking for over 2 weeks.

#1 Lancer is boring/slow as hell to level - does minimal damage, and sacrifices all defense while trying to farm/kill mobs, when i hit upper 40s and into 50s I had to beg DPS in quest zones to level with me while slayers/berserkers/sorcs aoe'd waves of mobs at a time. Some of these DPS outright refused because they knew lancer's would contribute very little dmg and they would have to split - needless to say I am not tanking any instances for these people

#2 Lancer is very boring to play. Hold shield, pop-out now and then to throw out some debuffs/taunts to hold aggro, hold shield again. Thats it! Thats how every boss fight goes. Needless to say after farming FoK/BT 100x it gets old fast.

#3 I have alts too - that I play. I love my slayer- I have fun when i play my slayer. Granted that I am not level 60 yet with my slayer but even the leveling process is much more enjoyable. When in a dungeon the game is much more pro-active and I actually have to time my attacks. I love it.

#4 If you guys feel that lancers act so arrogantly and that there are not enough, why not YOU play lancer? I'll be more than glad to DPS and play my other classes. The only reason I rolled a lancer in the first place is because when the game was still in beta so many people complained that there were not enough and thus I rolled a lancer to help the balance - only to get hated on by the same community to ask us the players to do so. Hypocrisy at its best.

ON the situation with berserkers:

#5 Yes I have kicked berserkers before, reason why: 2 Seperate occasions I have pugged Berserkers and only to have them win drops with + AGGRO GEAR. When I ask why did you roll on X gear when it had + AGGRO, response was "Force of habit, I roll when I can". Well MOFO - you ain't gonna roll against no body then. And from that point on I was very selective on when I wanted to run a zerker in my parties.

TL:DR - PPL complain about Lancer's but they themselves do not contribute to the balance of things. Everyone wants to PEW PEW bosses - well so do I - you play Lancer then, see how you like it - and I can DPS. Berserkers are kicked for a reason, sometimes they roll for crap they don't actually use.
