Check your level Dio, you may have outleveled the quest midway. As soon as you do so, you cannot complete it anymore. You stop getting credit.
I use spreadsheets for examining individual skill efficiency and determining theoretical dps and build variance for most games I play.
This game has more dynamic combat that many previous mmo's (as Notz mentioned above). To try and wedge a log parser or live dps meter into a game like this would be of little value. I could see it helping on a combat dummy for testing chain damage output in small bursts, but not much more.
Still waiting to hear why we need combat logs and dps parsers/meters just to kill bosses. Considering that bosses are dying in this very same game without them. Not to mention the MMOs of the past where many of us here killed bosses without them.

Drop rate is fine for lower levels (pre-30). Assuming that the drop code changes to make items more rare for higher levels, I see no issue. I do not yet have a level 60 toon, so I am unaware what drop rates are at endgame. I can't imagine they are the same.
Centaurs and Orcs drop it when they are still similar level.
OP: Keep doing what you are doing. You will be ready for endgame as a tank. Some of the turds you grouped with--they wont.
For a group to succeed in any game, organization is needed. You need a leader and followers. Without both, you don't have organization. Is a lot of organization needed in low level instances? No, not that I have seen. However, that is your chance to practice it. Fight every pull like it will be your last. This discipline will serve you well into endgame (and into other games).
You and I, we tank alike (although I rolled warrior for that purpose in Tera). My main, however, is healer (GF is tanking on lancer). I wont heal for a group of idiots. The more we plan, the smoother it goes. If you (OP) ever roll dps on my server, hit me up--you sound like a solid player.

I roll Torrent of Blows in my most common attack chain (as the last attack) and try and pull it off every time. If you can keep it on the stack (mobs seem to have a memory of 5 or so last actions) then you wont lose aggro unless you are getting healed an awful lot (because you are not avoiding damage enough).
I only use Shout when something has gone wrong, or when I need to control a large group of mobs (trash or boss adds).

I use mine on BAMs all the time. Still get Guild Quest and regular quest credit. Might be a bug related to something else.
