Please, only answer if you have played Aion and Tera!

I recently went back to Aion F2P and was suprised at a few things that inevitably caused me to uninstall it swiftly. They never changed the flight timer so it was tedious to do anything in the air. Clunky air controls, clunky movemen, ect... There was also A LOT of traveling on foot. I hate timesink traveling!

-Does Tera have faster traveling than Aion? Or is there a ton of running around on foot for great distances?

Things I loved about Aion! Grinding! And not just killing, the fact that monsters that you were grinding could drop good loot (White, green, blue, orange quality)... I don't like grinding if the monsters you are grinding can't drop rare items to use or sell.

-Does Tera offer a rewarding grinding system? (Read above)

Last question!

-Do you think Tera's engine is more optimized than Aion?

I have a 5770 HD Radeon, 6GB ram, and a quad core intel. Aion seemed to lag at max settings but I can play games like Skyrim just fine.

I've been playing aion since day 1 with only a few short breaks from it ( not even long enough for subs to run out ) until it went F2P.

To answer your questions there is a lot of foot work involved with tera however having a mount makes it quite a bit less time consuming than hoofing it around in aion

Flying in aion has always been a pain and takes a lot of getting used to to master fully , not something you'll have to worry about with Tera.

Grinding in tera doesn't seem to be all that different from Aion , Just more fun but I havn't had to grind extensively enough in tera to get bored with it yet , as far as drops go I've seen video's of tera where players farming Bam's were getting nice looking blue or gold drops so i would assume you could make money doing so.

Optimization wise , Tera runs better on my PC than Aion does .. Both games set to max settings Tera smooth in Valk with tons of people on the screen while aion stutters when running around high pop area's ( Panda or Primum fort )

Only thing I'm gonna miss from Aion is being able to play in 3D until Tera gets support for it.

I can't read through 70+ pages of forum. Can someone tell me what the benefit to having these shops is over the AH? Can you sell items in them that cannot be sold in AH or something? Why not just use the AH? How is searching through stores 1 by 1 any benefit to anyone?

I know there must be a reason as this is the 74th page but it is way beyond me as to what it is?

Please answer I will support the cause if I am convinced.

You also have to look at the opposite side. What do you have to gain from removing them? Many incorrectly assume 90% of all items are sold in shops and 10% on AH, when it usually is the opposite.

Just ask yourself. If I want to sell super rare item X, do I put it somewhere people pass by, like an AH, or do I hide it far out in the mountains?

The benefits on the other hand are multiple.

- You can run your own store. Some enjoy that kind of thing.
- You can have them buy stuff automatically for you.
- You can place them at remote places to sell medicine, potions, quest items, where they are needed.
- If a Vanarch has too high taxes, people can boycott the AH and force a decrease in tax. Giving community power.
- Instead of relisting an item in AH that rarely sells, you can put them on a pet shop. We all know the usual solution is to npc or drop the item if AH is the only market.
- I guess you can also use it for advertising your guild or something, instead of choosing a chat and spam.

As you can see, we can live without them, but it would hardly be negative to keep them.

OR we could just use the broker and make things more simple

EME Removed them from the game for the better just respect that decision and move on , Don't like it ? .. well there are other games out there that you can " Play the Market " better like Eve .. You wanna run your own store go buy supermarket Tycoon .. wanna play an action game that has a broker and not a bunch of worthless pet shops standing around advertising for rmt sites that would be Tera.

Boycott a Vanarch by voting someone better into power not punishing the average player that needs to buy something by forcing him to look through hundreds of stupid shops.
I'm glad they removed them as they'll just end up being free RMT site advertising , they are an eyesore to look at but if you turn them off then you end up missing items that aren't listed on broker, Yeah I just don't think any game really needs shops when it has an auction house.

I support EME's decision to remove these shops .. stick to your guns EME and keep them out of Tera.

Just pre-ordered yesterday didnt get a chance to play any of the betas and cant decide on the class for me to save my name.

Little mmo history: Daoc- Tanks and Casters, Warhammer- Chosen and Sorc,Rift- Warrior and Sorc, Aion- Gladiator(looks similar to zerker), Swtor- Bounty Hunter

So im trying to decide which would fit my play style best, when i play casters i like to just pew pew things and when i play tanks i want to be in your face and you run or die. Which do you think suits me best Sorc or beserker?

if your friends are going lancer / warrior / slayer then sorc would probably be your best bet , your aoe and slows would compliment the group more than a berserkers dps would. as a berserker you would have trouble keeping up with them.

i just want to know where everyone is getting this "slayer is the 2nd highest damaging hero" stuff from. Everyone from K-Tera is basing it off boss fights which are mobile....zerker lacks a bit of mobility, but not completely.

To truely base static dps you need to put both parties on equal footing which is a standstill drop the bombs fight. In that case a slayer will never out-dps a zerker. That is how you properly based the real potential of a class. Everything else is based off player ability and not the class itself. Easier to play classes will pull ahead early on, but die hard players will (as proven across many games) can show that even given weakness in a class mechanics will provide better results in any situation.

The problem with your example is that the fights are the opposite

Sure in an ideal situation where a boss stood there and let you attack it the berserker's dps would be higher but end game boss fights do not work this way, Fights are mobile and berserkers struggle to keep up and keep dps applied unlike the Slayer which can stick to the boss and keep pumping out dps.

Equal footing ? .. how about putting both classes up against a fast moving target , anyone can stand still and attack.

People aren't saying that Slayers are the 2nd best dps in the game , they are saying that slayer ends up being the 2nd highest in dungeons with high mobility fights.
dunno why its such a bad term it has nothing to do with graphics its just more pleasant to type than character.

I've used the term toon since UO , I never played wow so I can't say how often it was used there but i'm not gonna stop using it just cause someone doesn't like it.
I played both quite extensively during the closed beta's , I have to say Slayer is my personal favorite. they do very nice dmg and have a decent amount of stuns , also distant blade gives you an edge vs ranged classes.

Berserker isn't weak in 1v1 it just takes more skill to play than other classes , Practice aiming and bait other classes into using their dodge cd and then crush them , Granted they get easier end game they are still a force to be reckoned with in the right hands. I had no problems beating everything cept lancers in pvp. I definitely plan on making a berserker alt down the road.
I had the same error between CB3 and 4 not sure what caused this as it worked perfectly fine during closed beta 3.

I fixed it by right clicking on Tera and setting it to windows xp compatability in properties.

then going into the public/tera/client and setting the TL file to xp compatability works fine now.

same thing happened to a friend and this fixed his issue as well.

Hope it works.

Edit: Also make sure your running it as administrator that also seems to help

You can't really " Steal " names as they don't belong to anyone.

Names are on a first come first serve basis , If you didn't get the name you wanted be creative and think of another one, it does no good to come in here and complain really.

If you use a common word for a name you better get used to it getting nabbed from you in future games as well until you learn to make something a bit more unique.
