JPsama's Post History

Whelp, as is tradition on forums I will supply my feedback for the people at EME to print out and use as fuel to keep their office warm!

TerA was a decent game for a while, basically until you hit the QUOTE end-game UNQUOTE. In a game that boasts 1,400 quests.. it takes maybe 2 weeks to hit cap playing at a casual pace. Too many things to do and not enough 'time' to make use of them all.

No need to comment on the RNG in this game, if they don't know how much it's hated by the sheer number of people who have left the game and made complaint threads then that's there own business. Who knows, maybe they are waiting to implement some cash shop buffing items? Maybe they want a niche game for the 10% of people from launch who are still playing.

Some people love the enchanting system.. good for you, grats on your stuff or whatever :D.

Combat system. At first, I thought it was great... then after playing for a while (at max level) you realize it's no different than a tab target MMO. Yeah, it's no different. You do the same thing as a TAB1234 game... maybe even less. TAB 1 spacebar spacebar spacebar repeat, over and over and over. "But you have to aim, it takes a lot of skill unlike tab targets". Not really, if you have trouble aiming, then you are retarded. Flat out special ed. BAMs are the size of a house, if you can't hit them you're on full derp mode.

Most if not all of the skills have AoE, in fact playing as a warrior you really don't even have to hit on the mobs, you can hit behind, to the side, whatever and it still lands. Not trying to take away from the combat because it's fun for a while and it is a bit different, but it's not as innovative as they make it sound. In other tab target mmo's it's the same way, you basically need to be "close" to your target to hit them.

I will say that the defensive moves, dodging and moving is really good. This is a good aspect that I feel is pretty innovative, it beats the typical "don't stand in the red spots" that tab targets use.

In conclusion for combat, it's not that great and it's pretty much the same as a tab target after a while, aiming is hardly a factor. But it's not like EME/BHS would change anything, it certainly works for this game but seeing as this is the drawing factor of the game it's not as innovative as they make it sound. Yeah yeah yeah you love the combat it's never boring I get it fanbois. But ask yourself.. aren't you just repeating the same actions like a tab target that you "hate" so much... literally TAB 1 2 3 4 (or TAB spacebar spacebar spacebar)?

Graphics and art style are great, but once again you don't spend enough time in the zones. It's such a quick breeze through a lot of them that you don't get to see a lot of the finer details.

So leveling, I wouldn't want a FFXI (Zilart style) leveling grind.. but just a bit more, that's my personal preference. Why spend time making great lower level zones and dungeons only to see them for a few hours? Oh well.. they won't change this either - not really a big deal, faster leveling is par for the course in the current mmo gen.

Gear grind in this game is just awful.
The constant non-stop money farm in this game is awful.
The seriously diminishing population is a killer for this game that relies so heavily on partying.

Random thought - I got an email "Newsletter" from EME telling me to check out the preview for QoA2 patch. Why did they add that stupid 1-60 marathon that some random kids did for 1000 dollars to the email? They have no other news themselves? They also talked about a guild scavenger hunt that some guild put on. Like really? All you have to talk about is player generated events.... that is pretty bad.

Sure they also talked about Leaderboards; though those are pretty pointless.. lmao seriously waste of time... even the small amount of time they put in them.

Oh they also talked about the "Suit of for Summer" event "Starting August 3rd"!!!!!! Yeah summer bro... get those swim suits for summer lolol.

I won't say this game will die and go F2P... but it's certainly not going to be a well known game. As a matter of fact... anyone I've told the game about (in the past) had no clue what it was. This game will be a niche and might stay P2P, especially if they keep adding cosmetics to the cash shop. They don't have much overheard at EME... a few dozen employees and some garbage unstable servers that have instance lag, they do virtually no developing, so yeah..

Oh how about their customer service.. I was #1 in queue and had an estimated wait of 15 minutes the other day... though I only waited 6-7 minutes. But really? I was first in line... it was 5-6pm PST.

Vanarch system is garbage.
PvP is lulz.
Lacking end game (inb4 "its a new game") - the game is coming up on 2 years, fact.

** Oh real quick.. the suggestion for "Subscription only forums". **
Take a look at the forums general discussion section - after 4 threads, the 'last post' is starting to hit into the hours mark. If the forums go subscriber only, their will be even less activity. I mean really 4 threads that have a comment within the past 2 hours? In the most populated section of any forum?

Look at the other sections, some of them don't have posts for days... many hours etc.

It's the most obvious sign that this game is dying in population quickly. It's true only a portion of players use the forums... but when the # of people on forums is so small that their is basically no activity it really shows you how few people are in the game.

Not to mention the 3 servers that are housing 90% of the active population.

** So please, make the forums subscriber only and see comments flying in at a speed of 1 per hour, 3 new threads a day, less complaints and more white knight defensive which causes players who frustrated to leave**

So this is my final goodbye thread rant lol about this game that started out so well and turned to a feces sandwich so fast. I don't have any particular hates on this game... this is just the most obvious stuff that EME / BHS "should" already know about. Personally, I just don't like the end game... grind dungeon for gear, grind money to enchant, repeat forever. That's just really boring to me... if you like it, good for you.. you probably like watching paint dry too.

You know the game sucks when people say "make your own endgame".

TLDR: Don't bother responding to this, just wait for them to lock it and I'll not be here anymore. I had a lot of fun trolling the forums the past two months as a non-subscriber but these forums move so slow it's hard to get a laugh out of them now. So goodbye forever, please permanently ban this forum account - that's what it says in your rules of the forum. Thanks!

So basically nothing has been added... but what "bits and pieces from the Nexus events" have been fixed / cleaned up?

That sums it up.

As for the quick response, I'm sure it's an answer they have on an answer sheet to tell people when they ask about it.

Exactly... thank you for pointing it out. The hasty response and clamoring of "fixes and new stuff" is just straight bull spit. Nothing has been added to the game, not at end game.. mid game.. new game.. nothing.

EME why are you trying to lie to get customers back in your game? Nexus is fixed? Never heard such a crock of horse madoodoo in my life.

I had a free seven days after the first month when I was unsubbed. I literally think they give it to everyone at the end of their subscription if they've purchased one. I believe it was called "Grace period" under account information. So, actually, promotional game time is probably the best way to describe it.

Fixed nexus? Not really sure. I quit for a month.

I haven't played in 6-7 weeks.. my account expired like 3 weeks ago. This is no grace period... they gave out free game time to everyone who cancelled their subscription. Desperate ploy to attempt to get some people back in their game.

Clearly the population is dying too fast for them... everyone knows that once you lose subs you cannot get them back.
I think it's fairly obvious that employee don't actually play the game.

You, sir, have many brilliant ideas. I like you.

I love TERA, don't get me wrong, but I like seeing people add in on the potential this game has. It restores my faith in the gaming community when I see posts like this instead of RAGERAGESMALLFEEDBACKRAGE. A well thought out, polite post can go far. :D

The sad thing about any "good" idea is that it's just a waste of time for the author. You know none of these ideas will make it into TerA... I feel bad that the OP spent time writing this (actually all of his posts are super lengthy and formatted). EME should compensate him.... or better yet, let him take over the game. Realz.

I haven't experienced this lag as of the last patch. However, I have noticed this can occur at certain times of day in specific. Usually at peak hours and only in cross-server instances.

I still get rubberbanding with some skills.
But I suspect it's skill specific in those cases.

I believe rubber banding has something to do with EME's anti-speed hacking system. Using certain skills while moving your character will cause the game to rubber band you backwards because it's detecting a "speed hack". Rather than out right disconnecting you, you get rubber banded. This is often caused by the terrible lag/skill delay in dungeons.

The ping in dungeons can be kind of outrageous sometimes. 300+ ping in dungeons while I'm getting 30 ping outside of dungeons is kind of silly. They really need to do something about the instance server lag.

Anti-speed hacking? LOL.... did you make that up? If you sell it a bit more it would sound pretty convincing.
Contacted a support in regards to the free game time they are giving away to everyone. Verifying I couldn't transfer it, just seeing what the deal was. Here is the interesting parts of the convo... guy/girl was nice, no complaints there as usual.

JPsama .: I see! Has much been added to the game in the past 7~ weeks? I think the last time I played was in June.

GM asdf: Yeah, we've cleaned up quite a few things! There's still kinks to be taken out, but we're doing as best as we can for a new game :)

GM asdf: I believe you'd enjoy it, besides it's free time! ^^

JPsama .: Oh really, what has been added? Last thing I played was Nexus and Temple of Tem. Haven't been following too much.. heh work.

GM asdf: Ahh so you're far in! Well we've been cleaning up bits and pieces from the Nexus events, other small bugs that occur and such, I wouldn't really be able to go into detail.

JPsama .: Ah, ok.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So basically nothing has been added... but what "bits and pieces from the Nexus events" have been fixed / cleaned up?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JPsama .: I'm just sitting here thinking why I would be given free game time, is there a population crisis or something? This is the first MMO I've seen actually give time away in such a short period after release... that concerns me as I wouldn't want to invest in something to have my heart broken into small pieces of smooshposh.

GM asdf: No, just promotions and such :)

JPsama .: You responded faster than I actually read my own paragraph!

JPsama .: Speed readz0r.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Best part about this was he/she answered before reading the whole thing... I hit enter on my paragraph, got to the end of the first question about a population crisis and he/she already responded.

Also, in regards to the 7 free game days added to my account - the gm stated:
GM asdf: This is just a promotion for everyone who had a game account, but hasn't been playing, or had no sub set up, just for a second chance at Tera :)

They must have given away a lot of game time!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TLDR: Tell me about how they fixed Nexus please.

I agree I hate the system in this game. In fact I'm leveling alts hoping that they might change the system in the near future. The more you use a weapon the more powerful that weapon should become.

That's wrong, the more you use a weapon it should get weaker as the metal starts to brittle and crack from too much use.

I think they just found their next time sink....

WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!!

Now I will go to a corner and commit sudoku ;_;

Patch update: "Now after enchanting weapons and armor over +6, the infused magix make the metal weak and it breaks. To repair your broken gear, you must farm for three days and four nights naked and then pay 5,000 gold per piece to repair them using 'Super Heated Metal / Leather / Cloth Repair Man Man Man...man'"

Why does it have to be a man? Can't it be a woman? In fantasy games blacksmith women are really hot because of their really toned bodies from working that shaft-I mean handle of the sword.

repair man man man

From All That right?

But my point still stands, I like hot blacksmith chicks in fantasy games and stories. DAT ABS!

I'd prefer a beefy viking woman with overgrown mustache and large belly. The hawtness.

The game in general is dying so you'll want the most populated server you can find, just have you and your friend transfer characters to Dragonfall, most populated server by far.

This is pretty solid advice.
