Jackalrat's Post History

I play TERA on a duo core at 4.0ghz. Runs fine.

I imagine nearly any i7 would be solid. At that point, you want to look at your graphics card and whatnot.

You could always try a lancer :)

LF1M Lancer Tank....

I totally did reroll a lancer, actually. Will probably have one as an alt when I simply cannot find groups as an overpopulated berserker.
Zerker. Cause I'm gonna play one.

/wrists.
I just want to preface this by saying two things.

1) I have never played a warrior.
2) I do not wish to play a warrior.

However, as a general player I have a tremendous amount of concern for what having warriors as a somewhat mediocre DPS in dungeons could mean. I understand that, at higher levels, their DPS becomes reasonably useful and even though they're not a top pick, they at least serve some purpose. However, I find this to be insufficient.

The simple fact is this game was intended to have 2 tanks, 2 melee dps, 2 healers, and 2 ranged. It's been understood that, due to the nature of the warrior and their usual audience, that they need to have decently high DPS (more than the healers and Lancer) to really be any fun. So they got the DPS buff, which I approve of. It makes more people enjoy the game, so it's a good change.

The problem is that Lancers are -still- the only tank that any group was interested in having past a certain level. This is going to cause a few things...

1) Groups are harder to find as all groups must have Lancers.
2) Lancers will accelerate and acquire gear faster than most other classes because they will always be able to find groups due to being the one essential class for group content.

At this point, it seems very strange to me that nothing has been done to make warriors more appealing as tanks in PvE. I understand a very specific set of class abilities, animations, and general concepts (the dodgy tank) have been laid out, and these won't change in time for launch.

So, at this point, I think you should just put a band-aid on the issue until a more competent solution is found. Give warriors a passive that reduces all the damage they take from BAMs or something similar. Give them a PvE tanking buff that won't make them any tougher in PvP (cause to be honest, warriors seem to be fine in PvP and I doubt they need buffs for this.)

I feel this would solve a lot of issues, especially the one of sitting in LFG looking for a Lancer ad nauseum. I mean, yes, this would make warriors the one class with multiple roles available to it for a dungeon run, but it seems to me like far more people would benefit from this change than be disadvantaged. (Except maybe a few Lancers who have to wait 2-3 mins to find a group.)
I have to second that, zerkers are unlikely to be the most lag tolerant because their DPS is entirely dependent on how well you can land thunder strike, which is a charged skill that hits in a narrow area in front of the zerker. Lag will cause a lot of misses, and a huge loss in DPS.

If I had to guess, I'd say Slayer. Minimal charge skills, so not a ton of cast bars to get [filtered] up and attacks mostly swing in wide arcs, so are easier to land than most melee.

Dodging (like blocking) would be hard, but this is true of any class.
I played a zerker at level 27 with a thief-cleaver, pair of gold boots, and some 24-27 blues here and there. The gear wasn't perfect, but I was better geared than the majority of players in CBT2 by a wide margin. My biggest crits as a zerker were around 8-12k depending.

My archer friend who never even ran a dungeon could crit that hard at level 24. Archers DEFINITELY have excellent burst. How's their overall DPS? I have no idea, we'll have to see.

But I can assure you that kind of burst at range will make archers an excellent PvP class. Like every class, of course, you'll need to practice.
While it's true that the slayer does need low HP to pull off that kind of burst, I've understood their DPS to actually be very good in the super late game, again due to how well they scale with attack speed.

Also, archers = warriors? That doesn't sound right.
...And now I notice the suggestion section. Oops. Posted here due to association with classes.
After playing CBT2, I found myself just a bit frustrated with trying to find a group as certain classes. After being so deadset on a zerker, I ended up also leveling a Lancer, Sorc, and Archer just to have toons that could get groups.

In Aion, NCSoft advertised the class populations for the servers on their official website. This helped let you know what the dungeon-crawling community might need. This could even be a later feature, and likely only one that keeps track of characters logged in with a reasonable frequency.

Honestly, it's not a huge deal to me. I don't mind rerolling after "testing the waters" now and again, but I think this could help keep our class populations as diverse as possible. Most don't want to be the "overplayed" class, and I'd say in an ideal population the ratios would be pretty even, a feature such as this would give the community some control over it.
Frankly, I want warriors to tank some of my groups! I think it would be fun. Lancers just hold the boss still, and eh...nothing original.

Warriors got style.
