People are aggressive because I'm sure they think that a GM is trying to take the easy road out and give up halfway through their reign, but thats not always the case. There should be no reason to not be able to change hands of the guild. If anything, they could just allow it so if the guild changes GM then the guild automatically loses control of their province and all shops close. I would be ok with that even

Good idea, the guild would also lose a bit of public face for not meeting the commitment of holding Vanarchy, making next election harder. Some may say that a guild could do this in order to punish a server though.

(maybe have a small window for it, like a day before registration)

Right now, I am a leader of a guild and I also have a Vanarch position. However, literally a day before the next reign period starts, I will need to take a hiatus for personal reasons. The problem I have is that my guild still wants to be a Vanarch but under the reign of one of my officers in my absence. The problem? I cannot pass Guildmaster to anybody while we are a Vanarch. That would require us to drop out completely of the Vanarch seat and skip the next election just so we can change the Guildmaster over while I'm gone. I know they don't want people becoming Vanarch, and then just leaving guild or whatever and reaping the benefits but why can't we change the Guildmaster during the Registration period at least? It isn't always a case of a guild leader screwing people over.

Finally someone who gets it. Not sure why so many aggressive people in here. This is the situation for many, some guilds know there GM isn't coming back as well. That kind of thing. They dont wish to take the vanarchy seat, just be able to run themselves without the guild falling apart because GM is unable to play for reason X Y Z. Oh and to reduce the affects on the guildies who shouldn't have to suffer because of it.

To be able to allow GM change during Registration period would be a fantastic window.

Gm's of guilds are asking for this, Game masters have said they would do it but currently wont because they are unsure of what it might do.

And you seem to believe that people are entitled to things they are, in fact, not. I'll break it down for you:

The guild leader disappears. This is not En Masse's responsibility to do anything about. Perhaps the guild leader left for some time to do whatever he needed to do. Could be an accident? Who are they to say who the leadership should go to? Maybe it would go to someone that you guys vote for, but again: Not their responsibility. It's all player policing.

Say the guild holds a vanarch position? Handing over the title to someone who was not voted for is obviously against the whole voting process and against what players would want. Again, not their responsibility.

So, again, I will say you are acting like a child and add that you are undeserving of any sort of explanation and out of my good graces decided to give you simple one.

Hey there angry confused man :) Guilds wish to change GM then put that new gm forth for election without having to skip the entire 3week + process.

A guild can be formed 1 hour before putting forth GM for election and still run for Vanarchy. However a guild that previously had run can not and they do not wish to rebuild guild for this nor suffer in the political system for such a simple thing.

EDIT: You are asking what permissions officers don't have that Gm does? wow.... you living under a rock? This is one of the biggest gripes in the forums right now -_-* why are you even posting :(

EDIT2: Some guilds even have the current GM asking to have this done.

Oh man you guys /facepalm. Issue is how can a guild recover from this not "LOL GM SHOULDN'T HAVE RUN" Captain hindsight is all well and good. You are totally right here, but can't exactly tell that to the perfect GM everyone loved that suddenly vanished completely randomly anyhow. Nor should a guild full of fantastic people have to suffer.

Nor should a guild that has had a GM that has had an emergency, that wishes to change GM without punishing the guild.

Everyone knows when playing online your best friend can screw you over for reason x y z, out of no where without anyone seeing it come. This is pretty standard occurances online.

Have a bit more open minded common sense people :)

Back to addressing the rather simple situation.
Anyone have a solution or is this terrible system really this terrible?

How about leave the guild? If the GM is that irresponsible you shouldn't be with him in his guild to begin with. Stop being such a child and saying things are terrible and do the rational thing.

Hey there, I tried to find another way to word this but failed. You are an idiot.

I'm not part of a guild with this issue. But I know of many who are suffering from this problem. Gm's who left to play another guild leave a guild full of amazing people who shouldn't have to suffer.

Fantastic officers and 200 active members who get screwed over by this, they should be able to continue without rebuilding guild and or being penalised in the political system which is a large part of what this game revolves around.

Moving on : )

Forgive me if this miss information. If anyone knows that there is another way please let me know.

Currently, If you are a guild holding Vanarchy. You can not change GM without not running for Vanarchy. Meaning to change GM is a 3week + process as you have to remove yourself from putting forth a candidate.

Multiple Game masters have been asked and so far they are all saying they can't change GM because they unsure if that will break their own game.

This is an issue for many guilds who have fallen under the affects of GM's going permanently afk due to other games such as Diablo 3, or just guilds that wish to change hands.

Anyone have a solution or is this terrible system really this terrible?

The request is to be able to change GM during the registration period of Vanarchy. Via having a game master do it for you, or being able to do it ourselves.

So I'm editing OP again just to super duper double clarify, no one wants to change who has Vanarchy. We wish to be able to change who runs for Vanarchy during Elections without the rest of the guild getting knocked off the map for 3+ weeks.

Some may argue that a 3+week wait is the punishment for changing GM, however no game master has stated this is why they can't do it. They have only stated they can't do it out of fear of damage to the servers.

Goodluck with your discussions and please try to avoid missing the point :)

The amount of people getting these kind of problems is insane! So many people complaining about IP and computer lockouts for doing simple things like running game at work then getting banned for it when loading up at home again, despite using that code they send you via email.

The system is extremely sensitive to anything that isn't 100% normal. It is both a good and a bad thing.

The game warden software either doesn't work at all, or completely [filtered]s people over.

The biggest problem however is the GM's of this game have really limited capabilities because they are always unsure of the implications of their actions. Such as how it is currently impossible to change GM because they are afraid they will "break" their own game. Often I heard about GM's who aren't even sure about what they can or can't do. Some know how to teleport your chars, some dont know how to etc.

It is just lucky you have good friends able to keep things running for you while it gets sorted out. It shouldn't take too long and officers are running things excellently while this gets resolved. See you soon Bgfangs!
