I agree with you 100%. I have run large 400+ guilds and the day to day running of the guild becomes like a second job. Personally, I prefer the smaller guilds because you actually get to know each and every member. You develop friendships with everyone, not just your clique. It is more of an extended family feel.

We are looking to open recruit til we hit 50. Then it will be more about rounding out the numbers and not many more invites other than friends and family of current members.

The other thing about our guild is the amount of work we put into each of our members. When you get so big it is much more difficult to be able to assist the others with gameplay and gear.
As of OBT Close we were at 22 and have since picked up 5-7 more. I only know of one who was not a pre-purchase, but he has picked up the game.
