KAW1080's Post History

Anyone familiar with Ivy from Soul Caliber? Heavy armor with an extendable bladed whip type weapon would kick [filtered] in a game like this... and as far as MMOs go it would be fairly unique/orginal.

this is the best MMO i have ever played. i am sure it will be fine. you have to remember the majority of people who use forums are there to complain.

If this is the best MMORPG youve played, i feel bad for you

I REALLY do.

Comments such as this serve absolutely no purpose. You feel bad for him? Really? I have been playing MMOs for nearly 15 years. While no game held me like Lineage 2, I remember being excited about a lot of games back in the day. However, no game in recent history has had me this enthralled as this game. My personal opinion is this game not only is the best in the last decade but has the most potential of any game on the market or on the near horizon. Don't feel sorry for me or for him – we have found a game we enjoy.

If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to play. If you do enjoy the game but want to see improvements - well that's fair. But, at the very least stop making unconstructive comments with the sole intent on tearing another person or the game down. It makes no sense and honestly hinders progress. If you have not found a game you enjoy, please do so. Regardless, stop making pointless posts, utterly transparent on their intent.

warrior tanking skills are perfectly sufficient to tank anything you need to depending on your skill and mastery of them.

Sorry this is not true. Lancers are better suited to tank in the current iteration. Block is superior to timing dodges which are often on cooldown.

Yes it is possible to tank as a warrior in my experience, but a lancer is clearly the optimal choice. As a warrior, you have to play perfectly to get an average result that any average lancer can give you (tanking). Furthermore, the style of warrior tanking is much more frenetic, which means the BAM will be spinning & moving rather than being stationary with its back to the party.

Not to mention the additional (ranged) interrupts that Lancers have. You know, for preventing a BAM from running to the center of the room and spawning adds, etc.

I am only level 45 though. AND apparently there are tanking improvements slated for the next patch.

That said, I would still pick warrior out of the four classes you have narrowed it down to :)

I disagree, Lancers are easier to tank with true. However, warriors can hold agro as well if not better, and IF they are a decent warrior will clear dungeons faster than a Lancer setup will. I prefer to tank honestly, as the extra dps is noticeable. Not to mention a bad lancer will end a group just as easily. While a warrior does need to be capable to tank, they by no means need to play perfect to compete with your average lancer for a tanking role.

Someone in another thread stated trash tanking was a weakness, and again I just don't see it. We have enough agro generating skills to easily handle dungeon trash. The one thing we lack is leash, which is nice but meh... Early on we do lack some cc as we do not really have a reliable stun or knockdown but again not an issue later on.

I don't really see the reason for all of these posts about the lack of ability to tank. I can only assume they come from lazy melee (warrior tanking is going to = mobs turning and not stationary) or players who haven't leveled out of their 20s.

How about implementing fame for killing equal (+/- x levels) level players. You cannot gain fame while having any existing infamy points. Fame = pvp notoriety. It can be used to unlock access to certain titles, gear to be purchased with battleground tokens, mounts, shoot i don't care whatever. The point is it adds a penalty for pking and promotes owpvp but in a way that doesn't break the pvp system.

so you have infamy for killing lower levels and fame for killing players that actually present a challenge.

Agree on the crosshair to view level. Having to alt -> right-click --> inspect is too much a hassle.

If they want to provide the "mystery" on a player level for ganking pvp, I would suggest color coding system.

Let say player within +/-6 level is coded Green and below that is Yellow upon cross hair hover.

Or they can even divide it into bracket like 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50 or in spacing of 6. *shrug*

I didn't even see this post. Wasn't trying to steal an idea, i guess great minds just think alike.
Instead of exact levels why not just have the cross-hairs change color depending on the level of the player. If they are -6 levels from you they con yellow, green for -5 to +5 and red if they are +6 or more.

This along with some tweaks to the bonus a higher level player gets simply for being higher level and it would go a long ways on the pvp side of things.
